Calix's pov

" Do you know what you are doing?" Lion asked Calix. They have been best friends since childhood mainly because Lion's family worked closely with Calix's family. In the military setting, Calix comes from a long lineage of marshal commanders and his family is one of the chief military families in Country C. However, the Evans family is shrouded by great mystery and there is not a lot of information about them, unlike other prominent families. 

" What are you talking about?" Calix asked pretending to not know what Lion was talking about.

" the student, Miss Alyssa." Lion responded flatly 

" Oh, man! I can not believe this! So you want me to actually date your student? What happened to " A professor's first duty is to ensure the safety of his students?" " Calix said in a mocking tone. 

" Can I choose to be a best friend first? Ahem, though your relationship would meet a lot of resistance from both families especially yours, It was the first time seeing you like that you know after that whole ordeal with the other pseron I will not mention her name. You genuinely looked in love back there I was shocked for minute." Lion said then quickly added

 "Not that, that is my business of course."

" You are right, it is not your business. Focus on driving." Calix retorted and Lion rolled his eyes and remained silent.

After a period of driving in silence, Calix spoke again though he looked like he was lost in some memory reliving it. 

" She surprised me." Calix said with a soft chuckle 

Lion looked at him shocked at what he said but then regained his composure, " See? In as much I want to ignore this and not get involved because the marshal will kill you and I do not want to be your accomplise, you are making it difficult for me." Lion said with a sigh

" Do not be ridiculous." Calix said as he rolled his eyes and regained his serious look.

Lion ignored the remark and said " At the rate you are going you will push her away and in the end you will lose her."

Calix smirked very dangerously and said, " Oh, she will come back. she is meant to be mine after all." 

" What makes you say that? You treated her so badly back at the mansion. Any lady would take whatever pride they have left and never show up in front of you." Lion said 

" Well, she is not any lady now is she?" Calix said 

" Well soon enough, she will be like any other lady because you are too cruel to her." 

Calix laughed and said. " Never, this is nothing. If she's meant to be mine then she's got to be strong." When he finished this sentence the atmosphere in the car became despondent because both of them knew what exactly Calix was referring to. They both had murderous and dangerous aura, Calix's was stronger. 

" Yeah, the world is full of wolves everywhere, with half of them being your enemies." Lion said 

Sigh, " When I think about this as a professor and an elder brother to that idiot brother of mine, I want to say you should actually stay away from her because it is for the best. The world we live in might swallow her and completely ruin her life just like it...." Lion was not able to finish what he was trying to say because Calix interrupted him

" Alyssa is nothing like her." Calix said with a frown 

" I was just giving you a heads up. Things turned out horribly back then and you nearly lost your life trying to save her, remember? " 

Sigh, " I am trying not to remember but with Alyssa, I will say for sure, She is not like that and I will protect her." 

" And if she betrays you?" Lion asked 

" ...." Calix remained silent 

" Are you at least going to inform her about what she is getting herself into when she starts seeing you? YOu should give her the right to choose if she wants to be a part of your life despite knowing that you are just not a doctor." Lion continued 

" Are you for or against the relationship?" Calix asked 

" I will not pick sides until you make sure that at least you let her know. In as much as I like this side of you and I would also be happy if you had someone by your side, remember that the young lady you chose is just a student and so at the same time, i want you to not have high expectations for this." Lion said 

" I am just being realistic." He added

" And that is why you are my advisor, you are amazing when it comes to being rational." He said with a grin

"But that is only when we are in the military, stay out of my private life. I will handle it." Calix added in a half playing half serious tone. 

" Alright." Lion said then quickly added, " So what are you going to do about her proposal?" 

" Were you listening to our conversation?" Calix said as he exaggerated his shocked expression

cough, cough, cough. " Ahem, no I was not. But dad was." 

" Then how do you know? And no matter how great the old man is, he can not run fast enough to get to the living room without getting caught." Calix said 

" Oh no, He did not move an inch from his comfy chair in the living room. He simply planted bugs in your room before everything." Lion said with a proud smirk. 

" Oh? How sneaky. Are you sure you are his biological son?" Calix asked as he laughed 

" I ask myself that every day," Lion said with a laugh

" Honestly, it would be very helpful if you were to be half as sneaky," Calix added 

" yeah, but we do not need that because you recruited someone else who is just as sneaky and even worse right?" Lion said smugly 

" Speaking of which, let me check in for an update," Calix said 

" Are you not going to tell me what you are going to do about the proposal?" Lion asked because he was very curious 

" Nope, tell your bugs to give you an update," Calix said with a smirk then took out his phone to call someone. 

" Big brother." The person on the other side of the phone shouted excitedly 

" Hey Rain, any updates?" Calix said getting straight to the point. Rain is a high school student and a genius hacker. He is one of the people Calix has helped to get their lives on track and they are also candidates he has been considering for the army under his family. 

" How hurtful! You did not even ask about my well-being!" Rain huffed 

" I could tell that you are fine from the moment you decided to torment my tympanic membrane (the medical term for eardrum). So?" Calix urged 

" You are cruel!" Rain exclaimed 

Calix laughed

" Thank you, I get that a lot. Now what asked for please?" 

" Fine! The lady you asked me to track has not been going out since Thursday..." Rain reported 

" See, you pushed her to the limits," Lion said while shaking his head

Calix ignored the remark 

" Okay, Thanks Rain" Calix asked Rain 

" I am not done!" Rain said 

" She was spotted with someone from Areela institute at Toshe Rock restaurant." Rain said 

Calix frowned, " When?" He asked 

" Today." Rain answered 

" And why did you not mention this before all that?" Calixed asked Rain icily 

" What? You guys interrupted me before I could!" Rain said feeling wronged 

"You are getting angry at the wrong person. I mean who said being at a fancy restaurant with a guy means that she is on a date with the guy? It could be something else." Lion said teasing Calix to make him even more jealous. 

" Did you see what exactly were they doing? Did you get what they were talking about?" Calix asked 

" No, you told me to respect military regulations and not invade the lady's privacy so I did not take any info like that." rain responded 

" I did however use the camera close to the area to observe so I can tell you this, lady was really beautiful, i mean well dressed for the occasion." 

" Thanks Rain be sure to let me know if anything else happens. Bye." Calix said. 

" I can not believe you are actually spying on the poor lady." Lion said laughing 

" Turn the car around." Calix commanded.

" What? Do not be ridiculous. We can not have you abuse military resources for your private life." Lion said incredulous 

" Then let me get off then." Calix said grimly

" What? Are you serious right now? You want to abort this mission?" Lion asked 

" Just stop the car and I will ask someone esle to pick me up." Calix said 

" Is that an order or not?" Lion said 

" because if it is not. I will ignore your request and continue driving to our destination. You can act out when we are done with this job." Lion said 

" Lion...." Calix started 

" Or give your family more reasons to refuse to accept the lady of your choosing." Lion added 

"...."
