Life or death situation

Turning around to see what had caused the reaction, he could only face what he could describe as one of the most gruesome deaths, even though he had dodged the arrow, that didn't guarantee others behind him were so lucky.

The unlucky archeologist was a man who had bald hair and circular framed glasses–which had tilted off the bridge of his nose and was on the verge of slipping off anytime soon. His throat was pierced by the arrow, in turn; he was pinned to the ground.

Now wasn't the time to watch, they had to run to safety for the time being.

"Everyone, take cover behind the boulders!" He yelled, jumping behind a rock as a barrage of arrows began its downpour. "It's the only way to survive and not get hit in the process."

They all scurried for safety. Raph being quick witted had hidden behind a boulder earlier, carefully peering, he could see Chantel standing and frozen in place, if she didn't move, she was bound to be killed with the not so lucky ones.

"Chantel!" He yelled, jolting her back to reality.

Her eyes were filled with fear, she never took shock well and the current situation was no exception, her legs felt like jelly and her eyes were teary, she was sure she would die in here and her end looked bleak.

Dropping the backpack on the floor, he jumped in, pushing her to the floor, just in time before she could be hit by one of the arrows.

Beneath him was a trembling Chantel, she was still in the state of panicking. From her manner of speech earlier, one would imagine she was as fierce as she could be, but this vulnerable side to her only made him more protective of her.

"We need to get up from here, now!" He whispered into her ear, using his hand to support his body weight above her.

"I... I don't think I can do it!" She shook her head, choosing to bury her face downwards.

Raph growled at the sick turn of events, if they continued in such a way, they were bound to die, left with no choice, he crawled his way towards the boulder he had left earlier, pulling her by the hand–in tow.

Chantel struggled to break free from his grip, she didn't feel at all comfortable being treated like a rag doll and dragged through the floor, her clothes were starting to tear due to the friction and so was her skin.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" Raph yelled, unconcerned if the others who had safely hidden behind a rock or boulder could hear him. "Do you prefer to die or to survive?" He shook her slightly.

Chantel had wanted to bottle up her feelings, her body stung from the ordeal she had passed through, blood soaked the holes now made in her tank top. Tears trickled down her cheeks.

"This was definitely not what I signed up for." She burst into tears, her vision blurring as her body jerked from her cries.

Guilt crept in on him, he wondered if he was a little too harsh on her, a flash of blood stained clothes caught his attention. "You're bleeding!" He touched her stomach, alarmed at what might have caused it.

"We are all going to die!" A woman in a bob cut cried, she had managed to hide behind another boulder, but she was determined to stay there as her only hope of survival, her backpack had been dropped when all the commotion began. All her food supply was in that bag, if whatever was coming next didn't kill her, she supposed hunger would.

"I'm fine, it's just a little scratch." Chantel sniffled, pushing his hand away, even though she was tearing up, she couldn't deny how weird his hand felt on her stomach. "You don't need to act all concerned about me. I would just slow you down."

"But you aren't alright." His voice mellowed as his eyebrows creased in worry and self blame.

"You call this, just a scratch?" He pressed on, pulling up her tank top to have a better look at the intensity of the injury, but before he could register the gravity of what he had done, it was already too late.
