Chapter Four

Petunia was not prepared for the new situation she was brought into. She had to now deal with her younger adorable sister and try not to lose to her. The problem was that Lily was too cute. Petunia used to think before Lily was born that she could just act all adorable and it would be fine but that is not the case anymore. Sadly, Lily was the easiest baby ever. This made our mother frightened.

This meant that our mother was with Lily twenty-four seven and I was left alone. Using this time to my advantage I decided to just try and focus on gathering energy. For my first goal to become my parent's golden child I just had to be the responsible child. All I had to do it get good grades in school, care for Lily and help my parents as much as possible. Simple and effective.

Later that evening when my father would come home I would be picked up to go to the dinner table. There we would eat dinner, while mother spoon-fed me, I listened to the conversation at hand.

Father had received a promotion and was now an operation manager. This meant that he would be overlooking all the workers, he would get his own office and on top of that, he would receive a raise. This was a relief to the family since our mother had no job. She used to work as a kindergarten teacher but that all changed when she had me. She decided to stop her job and raise me, but now with Lily here they had one more mouth to feed.

With this promotion, they could continue their normal lifestyle in peace without worry of future bills they would have to pay. However, the Evans couple always put 1/8 of their money into savings. This is probably why they were able to afford Lily's school supplies. That or Hogwarts provided money for the family.

Lily who sat in the baby chair next to Petunia started giggling and trying to reach for her. Still portraying the sweet sister act, Petunia reaches over and touches her fingers making Lily giggle.

When Petunia's parents witnessed this act they all smiled. Carol stood up and went close to her eldest and kissed her on the cheek.

"Your such a good older sister Petunia," She said while giving me kisses on the cheeks. Lily wanted to join the cuddle puddle so she reached out again with one of her needy smiles.

As time went on Petunia grew older she would start her first year in secondary school. That was until Petunia received her Hogwarts letter in the mail. The day she had been preparing for over the years. Over eleven years, Petunia made sure she did the best in everything she did. While still overlooking the plot. As Severus baby sitter Petunia, Lily and Severus had a friendly relationship. She managed to get Tobias and Eileen to start saving money so they would not be as poor as they were in the books. This made the family relationship better and Severus knew how to take care of himself and bathe. Now he looked like a really cute kid. The lack of greasy hair and a crooked nose really did miracles. The one thing that stood in the way of their happy family was when Severus started showing sign of accidental magic. Tobias was furious when he found out he was left in the dark by Eileen. Having to fix her mess I showed my "accidental magic" by lifting a vase. I told Tobias something along the lines of magic being normal and that it was not a big deal. This was certainly one of Petunia's proudest moments, she had managed to convince an adult of magic being normal.

Another thing that petunia did was gather energy and her core is now double the core of Lily's which meant that she would have an even bigger advantage when she would attend Hogwarts. Petunia did not only gather magical energy while she was preparing for Hogwarts she also studied hard for her primary exams in school. Although she was a grown woman on the inside Petunia could not let that stop her from growing too confident. She could not risk getting any less than 100% on all her tests.

Her parents were very proud of her and every time she got perfect scores on her test, she would receive a present from her parents. This, however, was also a big motivator for Lily. Over the years because Petunia took on the big sister role, Lily started to see her as her role model. So Lily became determined to do just as well as Petunia.

Unknown to Lily this got Petunia extremely nervous for the future because when it came to studying magic she was not the most knowledgeable. Yeah, she was a big fan of the Harry Potter franchise and yeah she knew a lot of spells and theory but that did not mean she would be able to use that knowledge in practice.

One thing Petunia knew for sure was that she could not fail because if she did that would mean she losses points from Frank for not completing one of the tasks. The soul hosting in Petunia's body is was a perfectionist and failing a task was not an option. More determined than ever, Petunia runs to her mother and gives her the brand new letter from the mailbox.
