26 Rescue Mission (6)

'WHAT?! How is it that he still hasn't unlocked it?' Ren couldn't tell what was happening. Ray was almost dead from taking a hard beating, but he still hadn't unlocked any hidden power.

"You little runts, watch me kill your friend, you're next, well…" Marcel made a weird face as his eyes came across Linda.

'Guess I will just act now; I can just try to awaken the bloodline later. Damn, fucking protagonist.' "where's the plot armour?" Ren said under his breath.

Actually, if Ray had unlocked his bloodline now, Ren would have been able to use him to solve a future problem that just wasn't worth the trouble.

'Now, I don't know if that'll still be possible. I might not be too late if it doesn't extend too much into the future, hah. This shot sucks!'

Clearly, all these thoughts came in a short moment, so Ren could still move fast enough to cut off one of Marcel's arms, the very one he swung at Ray.

To say the least, Ray was surprised at Ren's movements, and Damien was as well. Even though he didn't have any skill activated at the moment to increase his speed, it was still sufficient to face Marcel.

'I know what their thinking… not that I need to correct their false realisations.' Ren didn't waste the opportunity and kicked Marcel in the gut sending him flying right into one of rocky walls. Following up that attack, he bashed him into the wall again, or more accurately, he delivered a fine dropkick that fixed Marcel into the wall. Not relenting, Ren continuously struck him using both fist and all the hits were at maximum power, to finished it off, he delivered a powerful shock that took Marcel out of it in the end.

'He's strong, so that shouldn't be a problem, he won't die.' Ren could have done this in an easier way, but he was already in a somewhat bad mood from his disappointment in Ray, maybe he needed someone to pour it out on for a bit.

Normally, Ren wouldn't have been able to match Marcel in a proper fight without skills, but he was able to catch him off guard thanks to his techniques. Apart from the silent steps that played an important role, Marcel wouldn't have been able to counter Ren's footwork on top of the silent steps. If Ren hadn't followed up each attack with another one hitting precisely and as hard, Marcel may have been able to counter the shock of losing an arm and fought back, and maybe even escape.

'Knowing your strengths and opponent's weakness in battle is pretty good, huh?'

While watching earlier, Ren had already noticed who the next most important person was amongst the small fries around, and once they saw how Marcel took the terrible beating, none looked to be as confident as they were.

"Hey, they're running away, chase them! I'll chase this guy, you guys get the others!" Ren shouted as he followed one of them who was escaping.

Ren intentionally followed this one and made sure to give the impression that he was tired and couldn't keep up. He also wasn't using his silent steps technique so he could give a false impression.

'He must have used some kind of technique to finish off Marcel and is now worn out, I'm in the clear.' The lackey thought to himself as he saw how Ren continuously fell behind and couldn't keep up with him.

After turning a corner, that was it, he had lost his pursuer, but in reality, this was all according to plan, and was when the real tailing began. Ren used his silent steps which he normally used passively to tail the lackey without being found out. 'If anybody would know where to go, it would be him,' he thought to himself.

In such a situation, Ren really felt the need to create a skill that would allow him sense others around him. Anyway, now wasn't the time to be thinking of that.'

"H-hey! Boss, we need to leave this place immediately!"

"He's down, huh?" 'Too bad, I wanted to kill that bastard myself.'

"It doesn't matter, the mission takes utmost priority. What about the others?" Dominic asked.

"They all ran away in different directions, so I don't think we'll be able to get them."

"We'll have to abandon them then. Our ride should be here any minute."

The reason Dominic was waiting somewhere instead of just proceeding with the mission and allowing the rest to catch up later was because he was actually waiting for someone to pick them up. That person, was his twin, Dominique.

'I think this is enough. Once Dominique shows up, it might be too late. I don't want to kill them, they'll be very important later.'

Nevertheless, regardless of age, Dominic was also strong, so Ren couldn't approach as he would in his normal state.
