Chapter 9 Yes, he...

Jane looked up at the golden sky. 'It is beautiful.' She got so mesmerized by the patterns and runes covering the sky, that she didn't notice her dad had returned.

"Do you..." Her father stretched one hand out at her, inviting her to grasp it. "...Want to know, everything?" Jane didn't even have to contemplate for a second.

She grabbed her father's hand. A black-reddish array formed below the feet of Jane's dad. The array fully formed and Jane disappeared together with her dad. Leaving behind a time stopped world.

They reappeared in a massive round white room, with 85 doors surrounding them. White pillars to the sides of every door, with golden designs. The room didn't seem to have a roof, just a perpetual white light source acting as the roof.

In the middle of this room what could only be described as an altar stood. A kind of hologram of the Earth floating on the altar. Also, words floating above. Even if you would walk around the altar the words would turn with you. Even though someone else would be standing at the other side.

The words were written in a whole different language. Made out of runes. But for some reason, Jane could understand. [Preperations are complete. Commencing creation of the towers.]

Standing before the altar with her back turned towards Jane, is a woman. With a golden halo floating behind her back with beautiful red golden wings tucked in. The woman turned around, letting her wings completely disappear into her halo.

"Mom!" Jane recognizes her mother at first glance. Running towards her and embracing her into a hug. "Jane." Like a heaven's chime, Uriel's voice rang out. Tinged in familiar love and a bit of sadness.

"Is brother gone? When will I see him again?" Jane whispered while burying her head into her mother's chest.

Uriel looked deeply into Jane's eyes. Her lips pressed on each other, into a fine line. She struggled to keep her emotions under control. "Yes, he is gone and I... don't know when you will see him again." Uriel's voice almost cracked at the end of the sentence, she hasn't recovered yet.

Jane's eyes widen and shock colored her face. "W-what do you mean? You don't know?" Uriel tried to calm her daughter down by caressing her face. "We didn't have a choice. It was the only way."

Jane slowly backed off, a furious glint in her eyes. "You always go on and on about it being the only way. But isn't there always a choice to be made? 'The only way' just means that all other options are disregarded and not given any thought!"

Sadness pervaded Uriel's visage. She reached out to Jane, but Jane dodged her hand. "Answer me." Jane demanded. "There really was no other way. It is a necessary risk we are willing to make for both of your futures."

"Explain please." Jane asked almost bursting into tears. Her brother, her twin, is gone and she doesn't know when, or even if, she will ever see him again. They had shared the womb together. They lived their entire life doing everything together.

Training with their father, mother, doing homework, going to school, doing mischief, and much more. Only she disrupted that life last year. The year she got held back in school.

They complemented each other perfectly. Her brother was the calm and collected one, she was the brazen and impulsive one. They are two sides of the same coin.

Jane starts to breathe heavily. "Explain, please. I don't want a mysterious answer!"

"It is our fault." Her dad's voice rang throughout the room. He had walked over to Uriel's side and grasped her hand. "It is our fault, you won't understand yet. But powerhouses on our level, to get pregnant with a child already has an immensely low chance. But for them to be twins is practically impossible. The only exception are different races, wherein their DNA is stated that there will always be born twins."

"So, Ben had to go because of a mistake in calculation on your end?" Jane asked shocked about the revelation.

Adramalech and Uriel nodded. "How? You said 'powerhouses on your level', doesn't that mean you could have thought about it?" Jane was practically boiling over.

Jane's parents looked at each other, with a sad look. "We didn't."

"But why did Ben have to go? Couldn't he stay with us?" Jane almost begged them. She needed to get a satisfying answer.

"No, this infant world, couldn't bear to support two talents of your caliber, Jane."

"Then, why did you send Ben away? Why not me?" She started to get frustrated again. She didn't understand why her parents did what they did.

"When I birthed you two, we were very surprised for you two to be twins. We knew this day would come, so we performed many calculations and searched your souls for any extra information." Uriel began.

"We found out Ben had a thick line of fate connecting him to an individual across the universe on the home planet of the Elves. Even though we found a similar line of fate in your soul, yours was connected to someone on Earth." Adramalech finished.

"What? You send him away because of something as stupid as fate?" Jane said angrily.

"Fate is a concept you couldn't even fathom to understand. Have a little trust in us, you parents." Uriel practically begged for her daughter to understand.

"You said you didn't include twins in your calculation, why?" Jane asked.

Uriel sighed a breath of relief. At least Jane dropped the fate subject. That is something she shouldn't be in contact with right now.

"It is impossible to bear twins for us. There have never been twins in the history of our race whatsoever."

Jane took a deep breath, trying to suppress the raging feelings wrecked through her body right now. "I am not human?" Uriel shakes her head. "You are born in a union between a Demon and Angel."
