The man looked frightened. “Why would you do that?”

“For information.”

“But I don’t know anything. I only do what he says. I don’t ask questions.”

“Then you’re a fool. He gives the orders, and you do the dirty work and then go to jail for him. Isn’tthat the picture?”

“There’s more to it than that.”

“There’s only one reason I know of why you would put your own life in jeopardy, and that’s money. Right?”

“I have a family. I need the money, all right?”

“Sure. I understand. The kiddies need to go to college, your mother needs an operation, and you have debts to pay. Well, get this through your head, creep. It ain’t all right. It’s my life you’re dealing with here, and it ain’t all right!”

The man turned his head and looked outside again. “Look, I’ve gotta get going. If I don’t come back, he’ll come looking for me, and it’ll probably be both our heads in the noose.” Just then he saw something. “Oh, my God, here he comes!”
