Eterna gym

The battle

This chapter will be a bit shorter, for 2 main reasons I will go over at the end of the chapter.

Nick stood in front of the entrance to the Eterna City gym, the gym was surprisingly big, He stepped into the registration room, and they directed him to the waiting room, due to there being a large abundance of challengers.

He sat on one of the lounges, it was one of the private lounges, They said it was offered only to those that showed promising talent, which Nick found quite flattering.

"Heh, I didn't expect to see another trainer here." I heard, It came from a haughty-looking teenager, around my age.

"Hello, I am Calvin Reschizer, or what you might have heard people refer to me as…"

"The Moonlight walker."

"Yes, I heard quite a bit about you." Nick said, "Nice to meet you, I am Nick Devolver."

"How many badges?" Calvin calmly asked, "One badge."

"Hmm, why did they add you to this lounge?"

"The team Roark used against me was a special team, only reserved for challengers higher than that of his typical 1st gym leader team," Nick explained calmly, "I lost the battle due to my incompetence, so I think in terms of skill, you are superior."

"Who knows." Calvin said, "it seems there is someone worth staying for here, I am quite interested to know the level of skill you are at."

"Are you here for your 3rd badge?" Nick asked, Cavin simply shook his head.

"I already got my badge for this gym, it was my 2nd," Calvin explained, "I was told to stay here for a while, so I simply decided to stay at the gym, to observe some of the matches, maybe improve my overall skill level."

"He seems to be quite knowledgeable about this, he is…"

"A true genius."

"May I have a look at your Pokemon, I will reveal mine too." Calvin politely asked, Nick simply nodded his head.

Nick released his Pokemon, and in a flash of red light, Sven, Bellator, and Sicarius all appeared.

"Hmm, an interesting Lineup, It seems that Ralts is about to evolve…"

"Quite impressive, now I will reveal mine." Calvin released his Pokemon, which were Staravia, Luxio, and Porygon.

"Omnis here is my starter," Calvin said, pointing at the Porygon.

"Those are incredibly rare and also expensive!" Nick exclaimed, eyes widening.

"I guess this is the life of a rich person…"

"Which one of your Pokemon is your starter?" Calvin asked curiously.

"It's Sven, the Riolu, I randomly found him in the forest where the daycare I live in is," Nick replied, Calvin simply nodded.

After that, Nick and Calvin had a bit of small talk, nothing much, but Nick enjoyed it for what it was

"Attention, Nick Devolver, please come up to the stage!"

"Well, I gotta go I guess." Nick said, "it was a pleasure to meet you!"

"I will head over to the spectator lounge, I am going to watch your fight with interest," Calvin said, before heading in the opposite direction.

He walked down the corridor, before opening the door to the battle stadium.

"Welcome to the Eterna city gym, I am Gardenia, the gym leader here! Said a cheerful orange-haired woman.

"It seems you have caught the attention of that talented young man." She said, "considering he is watching the fight through the spectating box."

"I already had high hopes for you considering you nearly beaten Roark's advanced team, which he rarely uses, But, it seems you are a lot more interesting than I thought."

"Advances teams are teams a cut above the usual team for a said badge, I think you are worthy enough for me to use my second advanced team!"

"Let's start this, shall we!" Gardenia said with a grin, withdrawing a Pokeball and throwing it into the air.

"Grotle, it's your time to shine!"

The tortoise Pokemon appeared, in a flash of red light, Ready to battle.

"The best option here is probably Bellator, Sicarius is frail and could very easily get knocked out with a few good hits, Same with Sven."

"Bellator, I choose you!"

Bellator appeared on the field, eyes glowing red.

"Disarming voice into Psybeam!"

Bellator is a lot more proficient at using Psybeam compared to Disarming Voice, so he had some difficulties swapping between the two skills at a short notice.

Bellator shot the two attacks at the Grotle, "Razor leaf into withdrawal"

The effects of withdrawal allowed him to minimize the damage, "teleport!"

Bellator teleported away from the sharp leaves.

"Draining Kiss is still incomplete, I can't use it in battle…"

"Bite and takedown!"

"Psychosis zap!"

Gardenia raised an eyebrow, curiously.

From the spectator's Box, Calvin also observed the battle curiously.

An aura of electricity surrounded him, Grotle let out a pained groan upon approach, "Psybeam!"

Before the Grotle could charge up Takedown, it was sent backward with a Psybeam from Bellator.

"How interesting, That Ralts seems to have an electric type move, and you took advantage of that to create that combo move!"

"Grotle, Razor leaf, and bite!"

"Shock wave!"

The wave of electricity pierced through the sharp leaves, and the Grotle charged, its mouth and teeth sharpening.

"Teleport!"

Bellator instantaneously appeared behind the tortoise, eyes glowing blue.

"Psybeam into confusion!"

"Withdrawal!"

Grotle shrunk into its shell, minimizing the damage, "takedown into bite!"

"Shit!"

"Teleport!"

Before Bellator could escape, however, Grotle sharpened its teeth and bit down on Bellator, It then charged up power and slammed into Bellator, knocking him into the air.

"Psybeam!"

Bellator quickly recovered and released the psychic beam, the Grotle let out a groan of pain as it was struck.

"Confusion and Psybeam!"

Bellator launched the psychic beams, "Withdrawal into razor leaf!"

The Grotle withdrew into its shell to block the attack, before launching a barrage of sharp leaves at Bellator.

"Teleport and then shock wave!"

Bellator swiftly teleported away before launching a wave of electricity.

The Grote groaned in pain before sending another barrage of sharp leaves, "Psybeam!"

Finally, after one last blast of psychic energy, the Grotle fell to the floor, defeated.

"That was a pretty impressive show, Some of your decisions did seem odd." Gardenia said, "You could've used that combo move instead of attempting to teleport, considering that move doesn't leave you wide open and you wouldn't have needed to suffer serious injuries."

"Anyways, Go Roselia!"

The graceful flower Pokemon appeared in a flash of red light, "Dash in and use Stun spore!"

The Roselia gracefully leaped at Bellator, before producing spores from its flowers.

"Teleport!"

"Magical leaf!"

The leaves tracked Bellator and Bellator was hit, he groaned in pain, "Stun spore and magical leaf!"

The Roselia had already closed the distance, Emitting the spores.

"Psybeam!"

Bellator suddenly fell to his knees, the effects of the Stun spore had almost instantly started, he was then barraged by the magical leaf and sent flying onto the floor.

"Fuck!" Nick shouted, "Psychosis zap is useless unless it gets close…"

"Psybeam into Shock wave!"

Bellator barely managed to pull the two moves off, but Roselia dodged the Psybeam and took the shock wave, resisting it.

"This is bad, really bad!"

Nick managed to keep his composure ad continue commanding, but his mind was spinning like a Hurricane.

"Teleport away and then use Psybeam!"

Before Bellator could teleport, it was hit by a magical leaf and was knocked backward.

"Tch, Is this how Bellator is gonna go down?"

"Your Ralts did great, but it is not in the situation to fight at all!"

"Finish it with Magical leaf!"

The petals all simontauesly struck Bellator, smoke covered the area where Bellator stood.

Suddenly, a blue light erupted from the area, A burst of psychic energy could be felt…

"T-this is…"

"Evolution!"

"Bellator, Psybeam!"

In a flash of blinding white light, Bellator had evolved into a Kirlia and instantly released a powerful psychic blast at the Roselia.

"Don't stop, Keep using Psybeam!"

Bellator, bruised and battered, kept going, the burst of sudden power from the evolution fueling him.

Psybeams repeatedly struck the Roselia, Roselia was naturally weak to psychic energy so they took extra damage from Psybeam.

"Magical leaf!"

"Psybeam!"

Bellator ushered one last burst of power, releasing the physic energy as he was struck by the magical leaf at the same time, the two Pokemon collapsed onto the floor, defeated.

"You did great, Bellator, despite the disadvantage you were at, you still pushed on." Nick commended as he withdrew Bellator, "Sicarius, Time for your official Gym debut!"

In a flash of red light, Sicarius the Sneasal appeared on the battlefield, grinning wildly.

"Leafeon, Go!"

The feline Pokemon appeared in the stadium, the long wavy grass on its hind legs and hair, sharpening.

"Sicarius, Hone claws and then Ice shard!"

Sicarius sharpened its claws carefully before a crazed grin appeared on its face as it dashed with incredible speeds at the Leafeon.

"Cut and magical leaf!"

The Leafeon launched the magical leaves at Sicarius, "Icy wind!"

Sicarius used the cold winds to intercept the leaves, before using her incredible speed to strike the Leafeon with an Ice shard.

"Distance yourself!"

The Leafeon tried to counterattack by using the sharp leaves on its hind legs, but Sicarius quickly dashed backward.

"Leafeon, go on the offensive with magical leaf and cut!"

Leafeon dashed with impressive speeds, the magical leaves honing onto Sicarius, "Nigh slash!"

Sneasal sliced through the eaves with Night slash, before laying her eyes onto Leafeon, "Attack!"

Sicarius leaped at Leafeon who leaped at it, the both of them in the air as Leafeon sharpened its leaves until they glowed a bright white, the sharp leaves and Sicarius's Night slash clashed with power.

"Icy wind!"

A gust of cold wind knocked the Leafon out of the wind, "Attack!"

Sicarius released a barrage of strikes using the stick made out of dark energy, "Night slash into ice shard!"

Sicarius finished the combo attack with one clean slice, knocking the Leafeon away as she dashed at the Leafeon with an ice shard.

"Cut!"

Leafeon's hind leg's leaves glowed a bright white, before slamming them into Sicarius who shrieked in pain.

"Icy wind!"

A cold gust of wind strikes the Leafeon as Sicarius used her sharp claws to scratch the Leafeon repeatedly, "Night slash!"

Sicarius slashed at the Leafon who blocked the attack with a powerful cut, "Magical leaf!"

The rotating leafs struck Sicarius who fell to the floor, "Cut!"

The Leafon slashed at Sicarius with its leaves, "Bite!"

Leafeon then bit on Sicarius, who screamed in pain, "Icy wind into night slash!"

Sicarius summoned a gust of freezing wind at Leafeon who winced from the pain, The Leafon then got knocked away from one clean slice from a Night slash.

Both of them were battered and bruised, but it was clear that Sicarius had the advantage.

"Icy wind into night slash!"

"Cut and magical leaf!"

The harsh, cold wind and the leaves clashed as Leafeon's cut and Sicarius's night slash clashed, "Intercept it with fury swipes!"

Sicarius knocked Leafeon away with a burst of power before repeatedly scratching the feline Pokemon, "finish it with one final slash!"

Sicarius finished the deal with a Night slash, knocking the Leafeon onto the other side of the battlefield, as the Leafeon collapsed.

"Congratulations, You have earned the advanced version of the forest badge!" Gardenia congratulated, "I gotta say, that fight was quite entertaining, your Pokemon was quite powerful."

"Thank you for the compliment," Nick said, slightly flattered. "wait…I forgot to record the fight to send them to Janice…"

"It's fine, I am sure your family and friends will be more than delighted about your victory!"

"Wait…Shit, I forgot I promised them I would call them when I arrive at Eterna…"

"I am in for a doozy, Aren't I?"

Fear trembled down his spine, he was gonna have to face hell after this.

"Damn, you did pretty well!" Nick heard a voice, it was Calvin.

"Maybe we could be rivals?" Calvin asked, "you seem to be around my level, you didn't even use your starter there!"

"Sure, that would be nice," Nick said, having a rival does help after all.

"Ah~finally someone that I can compete with!" Calvin happily cheered.

The nice moment was short-lived, as a siren blared through the gym.

"I do not like the way this is going…."

Attention! Attention! All citizens in Oreburgh and Eterna are to stay in the safest place they can be in, preferably a gym, All trainers should evacuate to the safest place nearby, The Sinnoh government is currently proceeding battle against a group of gangsters called "the radicals" and Team Unity!

"What the fuck do you mean by this!"

"Calm down, Azula, we have to keep our composure during this." A voice said it was Ray.

"We should be heading toward Oreburgh and Eterna right now!" Azula yelled angrily, hastily preparing to leave.

"No, we have to have a plan, or else it will be too dangerous." Ray calmly stated, "we, as members of the STD force, cannot risk charging into battle without preparation."

"Azula, Calm down, Ray is right." A soothing voice said, the man had brown hair and a large build, and he was petting a small tallow while doing so.

"The only people we need to worry about are the radicals, Team Unity is relatively pacifist and is currently seeking compromise, we have decided not to take action against them just yet…"

"But the radicals are brutal, violent and are simply doing this because they gain pleasure from murder."

"They are our top priority, we need to get rid of them, cycling road is currently in chaos as they have been assaulting nearby trainers…" Ray said, rubbing his eyes while doing so.

He drank a swig of coffee, before continuing, "Worst case scenario, their constant violence, and commotion will anger the Garchomps in Wayward cave, which might just happen, considering this is the season where Garchomp is the most active, it is also the season where they are the grumpiest that's why there are such heavy restrictions with Cycling road."

"From what we've seen, they have been destroying objects, assaulting trainers and their Pokemons, destruction is vast and…"

"I think the worst-case scenario might happen."

"Tch, you got a plan?"

"Azula, you take care of things in Oreburgh, I will take care of the things in Eterna…"

"Bloz, take care of things in Cycling road, stake your entire life on not awakening those beasts, and if they do end up getting angered…"

"Call for support, and until we arrive, fight for your dear fucking life, you better do that you son of a bitch."

"I will, that is my duty after all." Bloz simply stated, "With that, it's time to roll boys!"

"Vikavolt, go!"

"Staraptor, soar through the skies!"

"Charizard, Time to kick some ass!"

The three agents all flew to their respective destinations, ready to battle.

"You two, stay here…"

"You should be safe here, I will have some of my 6th and 7th gym badge Pokemon guarding the place."

"No, I can't just stay here and stand still!" Calvin shouted, "Well, you have t-"

Calvin instantly ran, he ran at impressive speeds, he definitely had some kind of running background.

"I also want to go."

"Oh no yo-"

Nick activated fighting energy and ran at his top speed, bursting out of the gym.

"Those fricking brats…"

Eterna city was in chaos, Gangsters roamed the city, breaking and assaulting whoever was in their way.

"Look, it's a bunch of fucking kids!" Two relatively big dudes appeared, holding crowbars.

"Hey, ya wanna have some fun, you know…"

"We are gonna have so much fun." They said with a freakish smile.

"Shut up, please." Nick said before punching them in the gut and releasing Sven, "Pathetic."

I grabbed one of the crowbars and slammed it into the other dude's face, "I guess you were all for talk."

I then kicked him in the gut, he gagged before dropping his crowbar which I picked up.

I slammed the two crowbars into their meaty heads, and they stumbled backward, dazed.

"Imagine getting beaten by a 15-year-old…"

"How did you beat me!"

"Listen here Nick, why don't you…"

"Just get better!"

"Why don't you, just get better, huh?" Nick taunted before slamming the crowbar again, "Scum."

Nick kicked one of them in the face before punching the other in the stomach.

"Now, I ain't gonna let you go…"

"Until I break some bones…"

He promptly used his enhanced strength to throw one of them at a fire hydrant, before repeatedly punching his ribcage and finally slamming it with the crowbar.

"Now…"

"What should I do with the other one."

"Stop!" Nick heard a voice call out, it was Calvin.

"Can't you…spare them a little bit less of the pain?"

"I am sure they will learn their lesson when the police capture them…"

"Sure, I am gonna call the Ambulance real quick…"

After Nick called the ambulance, Calvin and Nick just sort of stood there.

"You know…"

"That was really scary."

"Sorry, I detest people who harm the innocents for their own pleasure…"

Nick tightened his squeeze on the crowbar, "fuck, bad memories…"

"This place is dan-"

"Speak of the devil…"

"Oho, it seems you've hurt my lackeys quite badly!" Nick heard a bombastic voice, "Brats like you should learn a real nice lesson!"

"Calvin…"

"Prepare to fight"

I know this chapter was a bit shorter than other chapters, only clocking in at 3K Words compared to the usual 4K, But I had my personal reasons such as computer issues, and the main reason, however, is because my original intentions for this chapter…just wasn't enough for this chapter, and I couldn't squeeze in the next chapter without it feeling clunky.

So, yeah, we have a chapter that is 1K less than usual But thank you for the support on this fic, I really do enjoy making this fic, and see you next chapter, Peace!
