Supergirl ~ Make It Reign ~ Part One

***

"Welcome, sisters," Selena smiled in dark satisfaction as she led her sisters, Ayala and Vita, into the Fortress of Sanctuary. "We three, together on Earth."

"Just as the prophecy foretold," Ayala marveled at the fortress.

Selena chuckled. "Did you doubt it?"

"I only doubted that I would live to see this wondrous day," Vita smirked.

"The Earth's yellow sun will restore you, Vita," Selena told her. "You will be stronger than you ever dreamed."

"I can feel it," Ayala smirked. "The power, coursing through my veins." She fired heat vision from her eyes, striking the rock opposite them. "We have powers beyond reason here."

"You must summon Reign," Vita said.

Ayala nodded, stretching out her hand. "Let us begin. Give me the Harun-El."

Selena held out a piece of gold cloth, the Harun-El cradled inside. Ayala picked it up, but gasped and groaned in pain when the rock glowed purple and caused her veins to glow like fire. "The Earth's atmosphere has made the Harun-El toxic to us," Selena frowned.

"What will we do?" Ayala worried.

Selena tilted her head, watching Coville walk in. "Our faithful servant will assist."

"The human?" Vita raised an eyebrow, distaste clear in her voice.

"A human who bows down to the Daughters of Juru," Coville said, dropping to his knees, hands outstretched.

Selena smiled in glee. "Prepare the ceremony."

"This is Selena's house," Alura told Kara as they walked through the city. "There must be a back way in."

Oliver looked the building up and down, frowning. "Some buildings don't have a back way. They have a way."

Kara examined the wall, then pressed one of the panels. It sank into the wall, and part of it slid to the side, forming a doorway. "The bunker?" she grinned.

"The bunker," Oliver nodded, holding out his hand. "After you."

Kara walked inside, and past the entry, the room was almost as dark as night. "This is cult-y," William gulped, shuffling closer to Oliver.

"Yeah," Oliver looked around, frowning when he saw the lit brazier in the center of the room. "It feels just like the ceremony where Olivia tried to summon Yuda Kal."

Alura was looking through papers strewn on a nearby table. "It's an atlas," she held one of them up. "Of the Earth."

Kara joined her, looking the drawings over. "I've seen these writings before," she said, looking at Oliver. "In Coville's journal. They're instructions."

"Instructions for what?" Thara tilted her head, trying to make sense of the writing.

"For making Worldkillers," Oliver answered darkly.

"Seems the Daughters of Juru created Reign, Purity, and Pestilence years ago on Krypton and sent them to Earth," Kara read. "And now they're following."

William's eyes were wide. "Sam and Ruby!"

Oliver nodded at his son's concern. "We have to find a way to let the D.E.O. know that Selena's headed back to Earth."

"Our protecti dome makes communication impossible," Thara shook her head.

Oliver huffed, looking around. "Well, there has to be something here that can help us."

Kara nodded in agreement, dropping the papers to help him search.

When Ruby came down the steps, ready for a snack, she stopped in her tracks when she saw her mother sprawled on the couch. "Mom?" she stepped forward hesitantly, then plopped down and rubbed her leg. "Mom?"

Sam winced, then stretched. "Hi, baby," she whispered. "What time is it? Is it morning?"

"Something's wrong," Ruby frowned. "You're sick." Sam frowned back as she tried to sit up. "Please don't tell me you're fine, not again."

"You're right," Sam admitted, nodding and wincing. "I don't . . . I don't feel well. And you're also right, I should've been honest with you from the very beginning. That was a mistake, but here's the truth. I don't know what's going on with me." Ruby's face fell. "But we'll go to the D.E.O., find Lena and Alex, and they're gonna get to the bottom of this, OK?" Ruby barely nodded. "OK?"

"OK," Ruby whispered.

"Hey," Sam fixed her with a long look. "I love you more than in this world. I promise you I will never keep you in the dark again."

Ruby bit her lip, then nodded and leaned against her mom, who put a careful arm around her.

There were some thing Alex hated in life, and one of them was when she had no idea how to deal with personal feelings. She had felt so stressed in figuring out her sexuality once she had met Maggie, and she had been so certain she knew how to identify herself after that year.

Yet somehow, without noticing it, Slade had snuck his way into those feelings, and suddenly she was having the same feelings for him that she had originally had for Maggie. That . . . that couldn't work if she knew she was a lesbian.

So she did what she always did when she was overwhelmed with something she didn't know. She tried to take her mind off it while at the same time tried to figure it out. One browser was open with the National City Adoption Agency, and the other was a Google tab and searching different sexualities. Maybe there was a way to find out what she was feeling?

"Alex?" She quickly shut her laptop screen when J'onn entered, and she was surprised to see M'yrnn with him. "I hope we're not disturbing you."

"No," Alex shook her head, smiling easily as she stood up. "No, no, no, there's always time for my two favorite people."

"I came because I wished to see you again, Alex," M'yrnn told her. "To say goodbye."

Alex gave J'onn a bewildered look, and he cleared his throat. "It's time," he said quietly.

Alex's eyes widened in understanding, and she looked back at M'yrnn as the older Martian took her hands. "You have brought me much joy in my time on your Earth, Alex," he said. "You and your friends showed me strange and wonderful things. You know, you have a rare gift for intuiting the feelings of others. You would've made an excellent Green Martian." J'onn ducked his head, and Alex bit her lip, closing her eyes as she felt tears form in her eyes. "Most of all," M'yrnn continued, his voice breaking. "You have given me the great gift of witnessing your love for my son. Home is not a place. It is living among those who love and honor you. I can depart this world with peace because I know my son is home."

Alex smiled and took a deep breath, trying to speak through the tears clogging her throat. "It has been a great honor getting to spend time with you, M'yrnn," she said quietly. "And now I know where J'onn gets his dignity and his enormous heart."
