SIDE STORY – Shepard’s Thoughts

This side story takes place after chapter 35

' This could've been ugly.'

After Shepard looked around the battlefield, she roared, '' Report on the injured, now!''

An older female voice said soon after, '' None of us is injured seriously, only Vega has a broken arm, but that's it. But, we see no signs of life from the colonists...''

Shepard knew it was unlikely the colonists survived the Thresher Maw attacks, but she held hope. Only, it was in vain.

Her first mission with her newly formed team was a failure of sorts. They were to come here and investigate the sudden silence from a newly established colony on the planet Akuze, only to find the place deserted and to be attacked by a pack of Thresher Maw.

' If not for them, things would have been very dangerous.' 

Shepard thought so while looking at the LD personnel, the same one who agreed to sponsor her and asked to come into this mission. If not for their help, she doubted she would've been able to protect her comrades so easily. They would have won eventually, but there would be casualties.

The LD personnel was small in number but for some reason, they focused more on helping us stay alive than trying to kill the Thresher Maw, which Shepard found weird but appreciated the effort nonetheless.

She then remembered they were sponsoring her, so it made sense to protect her and her crew. Just... it was weird.

'' Sigh, I'll think about it later. For now, I need to prepare a report to the Alliance.''

Shepard winced a little, as she knew this failure would not be good for her records, but honestly, she didn't care. What made her happy was that no one died under her command and she found the real strength of this newly formed group.

' Ashley is an amazing soldier, some as Alenco. Vega was a little too barbarian, but he will learn. Joker was doing an amazing job as a support with the ship while Jacob did its job well... I have nothing but praise for them.'

Shepard smiled as she thought about the potential of her crew, but then stopped what she was doing, as it was disrespectful to the colonists who died an unjust death on this planet.

' I hope you know we avenged you. I know it's nowhere close to being enough, but it's the best we could do for you.'

After offering a small prayer, Shepard looked around and said to her team, '' Pack up, we are leaving this place.''

She wasn't dumb, as only 3 Thresher Maw attacked but the place certainly had more. So, they wanted to leave before another attack happened.

'' Roger.''

The crew rushed their job and did their best to return to the ship as fast as they could.

Shepard approached the LD group '' Thanks for the help. I don't even want to think about what would happen without it.''

The leader of this group from LD said to Shepard, '' Don't mention it, it's our job. Our boss saw your potential and just wants you to stay alive long enough so you can show it to everyone... I must say, we had our doubts at first but you led extremely well in a difficult situation. Congratulations and sorry too.''

'' Thanks. We are leaving the planet by the way, are you coming with us?''

The LD personnel nodded, '' Our orders are to help you, and we will do so until our boss says stop or ...''

Shepard nodded and understood the last part, ' Or until they died. I have no idea what LD boss saw in me but ... I guess it's good someone saw the potential I have?'

'Anyway, now I'm curious about this boss they speak so much. But, that is a thought for the future, for now, let's leave this planet.'

Soon, everyone in Shepard's crew plus the LD group boarded the ship, which soon left the planet.

Also, what Shepard didn't realize was that another group from LD was on the planet, destroying a certain Cerberus facility there.
