The Massacre 18

"Why is nothing going my way today?" Rex thought

"I thought Nessa would have taken care of her by now. How come she's here" He wondered

"Well, I'll just have to kill them all myself".

His shadow came to life and from it, a dagger came out. 

Thia and Thena stared at Rex, their eyes opened wide in shock

"You're also cursed," Thena said.

"Well, what can I say? I was found worthy, who am I to reject such a gift" Rex said with a smirk.

Rex suddenly retreated into the shadows, no one could see him, hear him, smell him, or even sense him. "Where did he go?" Cage asked Thena 

"I don't know. He suddenly just disappeared into thin air"

"Do you think he ran away?" Cage asked.

"Maybe he did". Thena replied.

Thia looked around trying to find a clue of where Rex went. 

"He must be hiding somewhere, waiting to strike". Thia said 

As she was thinking this, she spotted a shadow rising quietly behind Cage.

"Cage watch out" Thia warned. Rex tried to kill the boy but his blade missed again. This time Thena had dragged Cage from harm's way. 

"Are you alright?" Thia asked both of them. 

"I'm fine" Cage replied. "Same Thena said.

"He's moving through the shadows". Thia said.

"I can't see him until he comes out from his shadow to attack".

"Good one Thia, if you hadn't said it we wouldn't have known". Thena said.

"Shut up Thena."

"You two cut it out, now's not the time for fighting" Hansi scolded. "We need to deal with Rex". 

Thia suddenly saw a small dagger going towards Miriam and she intercepted it with a small knife she had with her. 

"Where did he throw it from?" She asked.

"Over there," Thena pointed at Rex, who was returning to the shadows.

"How can we stop him if all he does is hide and attack?" Thia asked.

"I have a plan shorty, but it's dangerous".

"Wow, I never knew mountain gorillas could come up with ideas" Thia replied. 

A shadow quietly rose behind Thia and this time cage threw a blade at the shadow before Rex could come out. Immediately he tried to attack, he was greeted by a small dagger and quickly had to retreat before it hit him. 

"It's like playing hide and seek," Thia said after thanking Cage for saving her life. 

"Then why don't we play?" Thena said

Thena told them her plan and each of them listened closely. After hatching their plan, they split into three groups. Thia went with Miriam, Cage carried Hansi since their leader couldn't walk yet, while Thena went alone. Each of them ran into the forest in different directions. 

"It seems they are making my work easier," Rex said as the children all split up

"Which one should I go after first?" he thought. 

"Ahhh, I'd love to kill that brat first," he said and ran in the direction Thia and Miriam ran to.

He used shadows to navigate through the dark forest with speed. He didn't want to waste any more time. He would kill all of them and run away as fast and far as possible. 

"Lady Zillah should at least be able to weaken Ija" he reasoned within himself. 

After running for a while Rex saw Thia and Miriam running ahead of him.

"Where? Do you brats think you're going?" Rex asked.

He used his shadow to summon his Sword. 

He propelled himself forward and wanted to strike Miriam down first. The sword came down on Miriam about to bring her down but Thia reacted in time and pushed her out of the way.

The sword cut Thia's arm instead and blood trickled from her hands like a fountain.

"Die, you Damn brat," Rex said and punched Thia right in the face. 

"You are the reason why everything went from bad to worse. It was a perfect plan and you, you ruined everything" Rex said. 

"I'm going to save you for last, I'll make you watch as I kill all the friends you desperately wanted to save," Rex said and turned to Miriam.

Rex smiled deviously, His hand holding a sword and he was about to end Miriam's life first

Suddenly a small light flew right above them, the small light moved gracefully in the sky and suddenly turned into a large explosion blinding everyone completely. Rex was the first to react covering his eyes.

"Now" Thia screamed, and immediately Thena ran towards Rex. Using the brief blindness caused by the light, Thena rushed to Rex and stabbed him right in the neck. Rex was able to dodge in time causing the blade to miss his throat, but the blade struck his shoulders

"Who do think I am?" Rex said as he barely dodged the attack. 

"Thena's blade was stuck to his shoulder, but Rex was still able to fight. He grabbed Thena's neck with his hand and tried to choke the girl

"Damned" brats Rex cursed. As blood continued to drip from his shoulder. He removed the blade and tried to stab Thena with it but cage suddenly came from nowhere and held his hand in place.

"Thia now!" Cage called. Thia ran towards them and tried to put an end to the whole struggle. She grabbed Rex's sword that was laying on the floor and pushed to end him. Rex tried to release Thena but the girl held onto his hand. Thia was about to impale him when he used his leg to push her face back causing the blade to go right into his thigh.

Rex screamed in pain and angrily released himself from the children's grasp. 

"I'm going to end you all!" Rex screamed in outrage as blood poured from his leg. He drew out the blade and stood back up, bearing the pain. 

All the kids watched Rex Stand on his feet, the light that had dissipated the shadows had now dimmed completely. Rex could now hide in his shadows and kill them all from a safe distance.

Rex was about to release his fury on the kids when he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his back. 

The taste of blood filled his mouth and a blade was sticking out from his chest.

He looked behind him to see who the culprit was and the face of Miriam came to View.

"Miriam?" The weakest of them all had stabbed him in the chest.

He's going to die from the wound inflicted on him by a child. 

"How on earth did things turn out this?" 

"Rizo, Bane, Nessa.., where the hell is Nessa". Rex thought in his final moments.

The Old spy was of course dead. Gor had put a blade right between her eyes. The others were also dead, their group was now completely wiped out. By a bunch of kids.

Rex's heart finally gave in as the once vibrant young man fell lifeless in front of the four kids.
