Birth

Endless dark, silence, wait no, not dark and silent, there was nothing just an endless void, where was he.... or she? It was so hard to remember, were they asleep? No you wouldn't think like that while asleep even in dreams that were obviously dreams you wouldn't question it he had never.... he? Yes he was a he, but where was this and how did he get here? As he struggled to remember a few hazy memories and thoughts returned, a life of toil just trying to keep a roof over his families head and food on their table watching TV and seeing people sick, children with terrible illnesses suffering and...

Much time had passed, or none at all it was impossible to tell, his life had been nothing special the only thing he really regretted was his powerlessness in not being able to help the people close to him and those children suffering in hospital, he wasn't smart enough to be a doctor, he wasn't rich enough to fund medical research, he began to sink again into his memories helpless to stop himself, watching as those he love succumbed to illness, how he himself had been crippled by illness and injury leaving him unable to do anything for himself,

"Good luck"

The whispered words shocked him out of his memories and before he could react there was suddenly light, movement, pressure and water.

A clean room, the surfaces clean and shining, a woman in a robe with her legs spread cried out with the effort, her light grey skin covered with a sheen of sweat, her eyes glowed with a grey light, her long black hair stuck to her skin, holding her hand was a man who's skin was a metallic grey and hair was similarly black but short cut, his eyes glowed with a slight silvery tinge his face a mix of concern and pain as his held hand was slowly crushed, sat before the woman was an older man his skin was mostly grey with some white areas around his eyes and hands, he encouraged her that this was the last one, the woman nodded, grit her teeth and screamed as the child began to emerge the older man reached down and gripped the child and pulled it free, as he raised it up a white light surrounded his hand and the baby, causing the injured child to be healed instantly, with a light slap to the bottom the child cried,

"Congratulations, it's a girl"

The baby cried even louder.

The next year or so was spent coming to terms with everything, being female now, being not human, and being a baby, still unable to do anything for himse..... herself, surprisingly the gender change was easiest to cope with as she hadn't placed that much value on sexuality in the first place, the not being human had been a surprise but after watching and listening she realized that 'people are people' skin color didn't matter, however being a baby? that was endless frustration she knew how to move and everything else an adult would know but her body was simply incapable being so young with an underdeveloped body all she could do was wait.
