Time had gone by and our wounds slowly healed but the memories always stayed buried in the deepest part of our hearts. Well, that never stopped us from remembering father on his birthday and his death day. My mother still celebrated their wedding anniversary although privately in the most secret part of her heart. She never forgot to light a candle for him and wish him. I made it my routine to visit my father's grave and drop flowers for him. I had been a Daddy's girl and so whenever I had a problem, I would always visit him. Well back to my mother, Mrs. Janice Anderson. After dad's death, she had taken up a few domestic jobs alongside being a part-time nanny and worked tirelessly but she was not alone. I also helped her with the living expenses. I worked as a waitress in the evenings after school, looked after some of the neighbor's dogs and when I turned eighteen became a bar girl at a famous bar for only the elite people in the society, Not just me, I also have a friend called Agnes who is a resilient one herself.
But my mother experienced a sharp decline in her health. She began complaining of pains in her lower back and also while urinating. She threw up most of the food that she ate and sometimes complained of dizziness. On a few occasions, she even fainted. Over time she started to lose weight. All this happened when I turned 21years old. Whenever I tried to talk mother into going to the hospital she would say it was not necessary. But she was getting weaker up to the point that she could no longer work. Having had enough of it, I took her to the hospital where she was diagnosed with Nephritis, a disease of the kidney, and was admitted immediately. She was placed on dialysis which was a very expensive treatment. I was overwhelmed, it was such a sad situation not to mention the cost of treatment. With no one else to turn to, I had to go and borrow money from a loan shark to treat my mother and also pay for my brother's tuition. Now more than ever I needed to get myself a place in the entertainment industry because if I'm unable to pay off my debts to "Rodger", the leader of a dangerous gangster group. He had been the one to lend me the money, then only God will save me.
