Chapter 79

"I heard from uncle Lawrence that bad guys deserve to be punished, so I kill the animals. They were attacking another animal."

"Lawrence? Prince Lawrence?"

"Uncle Lawrence, Father's brother."

"Did your uncle tell you that?" Nash simply nodded.

Serio sighed, "You shouldn't kill animals..."

"Then what should I kill?" Nash innocently asked.

"No! It's not right to kill someone."

"Ahh... it's not?"

"It's not!" Serio sighed once again, "Listen, young princess, the reason why animals attack another animal is because that is how the food chain works."

"Food chain? What is that?"

"There are these bigger animals wherein they kill smaller and weaker animals. That's how the animal world works, do you understand?"

"Ahh... big ones are the eaters and the small ones are the foods!" Nash exclaimed.

"Yes, that is right."

"Then it's alright to kill the bigger animals since they kill the smaller ones. Am I not saving the weaker ones?"

"No, princess. We humans should not bother animals when killing each other because..." Serio stopped and thought about the words he should use.

"Because?"

"Ahh... because sometimes, the bigger ones are being eaten by you."

"By me?!" Nash exclaimed, looking shocked.

"Yes! We humans eat the bigger animals. Those bigger animals are more delicious when they eat smaller ones. Just like a steak."

"Steaks are delicious."

"Yes, that's because they eat a lot of the smaller ones."

"Ahhh... so that's why."

Nash nodded innocently.

"Now you should stop killing animals, okay?"

Nash nodded and raised her thumb, "okay!"

Serio chuckled and patted Nash's head.

"Now let's go meet your family," Serio held onto Nash's hand as they exited the room.

"How is she?" Ivelisse asked as soon as they stepped out.

"I explained a few things and she told me that she will stop killing them."

Celeste sighed, "Thank the highest."

"I won't kill the bigger animals because they are delicious!" Nash exclaimed.

"Huh?" Daniel said.

"huh?" Nash looked at her brother, confused.

"That is right!" Celeste stroked her sister on the head after kicking her twin brother.

"Now the palace will be peaceful," Vincenzo said, "I'll get going. I have classes."

"You should talk to your brother, Lawrence, he's the one who caused Nash to be like that," Serio said as he approached Roven.

Roven began to exude a dark aura, "that idiot."

Since then, Nash has ceased bringing home the heads of dead animals, but her demon has become out of control, causing her emotions to be unstable at times and causing a few maids to be injured, prompting them to flee the palace.

During those times, Roven will calm her down.

...

"It's been 4 months... aren't you going to wake up?" Katherine continued to poke Nash's cheeks. She's pale but not as pale as the dead.

Dopey was lying beside Nash in the bed, watching after her. Dopey grew into a big wolf dog, bigger than a human when standing on two legs. When walking, Dopey's fluffy body is as tall as Roven's waist. His body was big and his teeth were sharp.

"You're here?" Celeste entered the room.

"Ah, Sister Celeste."

"You rarely come. Are you busy?"

Katherine nodded, "I'm helping the towns and other villages."

"That's nice..."

Celeste caressed Katherine's hair as she sat beside Katherine.

The two have talked a lot about Nash who was just in front of them.

"You know? The moment Nash heard that the Duke and Katherine before was a doppelgänger, she was furious. She was eager to meet you as soon as she arrived.

"Really?" Katherine chuckled and wiped the tears that had begun to form in her eyes.

"I thought she would wake up soon, I didn't expect it to last for 4 months already..."

"I thought so, too. She was always the tough brat, doing whatever she wanted; now, look at her, she looks pitiful, even if she appears to be sleeping peacefully."

Celeste patted Katherine's back, "She'll wake up soon, don't worry."

"You think she'll forgive me?"

"She will."

...

2 months later...

"Her breathing has been stable for the past weeks, she might wake up soon," Serio examined Nash who was laying on her bed. Her room had already been renovated from a full pink to a pastel gray color scheme.

"You said that last month and the month before that," Ivelisse said, sitting beside Nash as she combed her long silky white hair.

"That's because there are no changes except her breathing," Serio answered.

Ivelisse sighed, she stood up and stood beside Roven.

Roven looked at Ivelisse before looking at Serio, "As long as she's fine, then, that's alright. Let us leave."

They left the room and stood by the door, "I'll be back the day after tomorrow to check her again,"

Ivelisse faints a smile, "Thank you, Serio."

"I'm glad to help," Serio bowed.

As soon as they step away from Nash's room, they hear a loud thud inside making them turn back.

...

Meanwhile, inside Nash's room.

As soon as Serio, Roven and Ivelisse left her room, Nash slowly opened her eyes. There she saw a chandelier. She tried to move but ended up groaning in pain. 'I can't move my body...'

She tried to use her gravitational power, but she felt no stamina in her.

Dopey, who was sleeping beside Nash's bed heard Nash's groan. He looked up and saw the bed moving. He stood up and looked at Nash and once he saw her woken up, he licked her face as he wagged his tail left and right, showing how happy he is.

Nash chuckled a little after feeling the pain once again, "Stop licking me, Dopey."

Her voice was hoarse.

Dopey stopped and looked at Nash. Nash on the other hand was looking at the window. Nash, on the other hand, had his gaze fixed on the window. She wants to see how the outside looks.

'Did everything went well?'

Nash tried to move but ended up tumbling off her high bed with a loud thud. Nash winced in agony but chose to ignore it. She grabbed onto Dopey's leg and said with her burning eyes, "Please take me to the window"

The door swung open as Dopey dragged her to the window. Serio, Ivelisse, and Roven all saw Nash being dragged by the window.

"Nash!" Roven catches her wife before falling down as she cries looking at her daughter.

"You should be laying on your bed," Serio said and slowly walking towards Nash.

Nash only focused on looking outside. Nash moved the curtains and saw the outside, the capital was much brighter than before, and the sun was up high giving light to the empire.

Nash bit her lower lips as a tear fell off her eyes, 'They're fine... The empire is back to normal.'

"Nash," Before Serio even held onto Nash, Nash began to cry, sobbing in between hugging Dopey. Ivelisse runs to her daughter, crying, and the two of them cry their hearts out.

Roven looked at her daughter, he averted his gaze as he felt a pain in his heart. 'It's been a long time since she cried this loud. The last time was when she was sick when she was a small kid. It must've been hard... I'm sorry, princess.'

Nash continued on releasing all her stress, anxieties, worries and all the regrets that had been kept in her heart for years. Ivelisse sobbed alongside her daughter, knowing that deep within her daughter was a storm of emotions as she looked at her.
