Chapter 5

Dopey tried to get her attention but she remained motionless. Nash was completely still, her head buried between her pillows.

She heard her father outside say, "Open the door," but she pretended she hadn't heard anything.

Nash is burying her head between her pillows while silently enduring the pain in her wrist caused by the tightness of the shadows strings.

Nash remained in her posture, resting on her stomach with her head buried between her pillows, when her door flew open.

"Look at me," Roven said, but Nash remained still. Dopey became terrified and hid beneath Nash's bed.

Since Nash isn't moving, Roven used his shadow ability to lift her daughter and let her sit in front of him. Nash is bowing her head in an attempt to hide her face.

"Leave," she said, tears forming in her eyes from the anguish.

When Roven lifted her daughter's face, he saw her teary eyes. "Why are you crying? I haven't yet responded to your request."

"Because it hurts!" She can't stop herself from yelling it in her father's face. She immediately moves away thinking he will hit her.

She was traumatized while watching a telenovela. The kid was slapped after shouting at an elder. She immediately regrets the moment she disrespected her family after that.

"Why did you move? Do you think I'm going to hit you? Did I ever hit you after a hundred times of you not listening to us?" She shakes her head immediately to disagree.

"Let me take a look at your wrist." She showed her wrist and both of it were swollen from Roven's grip. "You should've said that it hurts. You didn't even utter a word."

'Since then, you never mentioned it to use whenever you're in pain. We will just find out that you were injured.'

She tried to hide the discomfort whenever her father touched his swelling wrist, saying, "I already mentioned it hurts."

Roven let out a sigh. "Next time, tell us if you're in pain, okay?"

Nash nodded. Roven always told her that whenever she was hurt, but she never informed them she was hurt since they worried so much about her, and she didn't want them to worry. That's why when she was hurt, she went to her aunt Terry to heal it for her so that her family wouldn't be concerned.

"I'll call a doctor," Roven was about to call the butler, but Nash stopped him and showed him the necklace her Aunt Terry had given her.

"Heal," she muttered and her swollen wrist healed.

"You... Then why didn't you just heal it straight away!?" Roven asked, annoyed.

Nash smiled as she wiped her tears away. "I decided to tease you because I knew you'd show up, and you did!"

'Aren't I a great actress? But it really did hurt though, to the point where tears welled up in my eyes.'

Despite the fact that he looks like he'll kill you in a second simply by gazing at his eyes, Roven is actually a really kind person. He's the reason Nash is such a spoiled brat.

"I'm not going to let you join the Knights," he said. Nash grinned. Roven was taken aback by her reaction.

"It's alright,"

"Are you serious?"

"Of course!" She smirked and said, "Whenever there's a plan A, there's always a plan B."

"What? Are you going to run away once more?"

"Bingo! HAHAHAHA"

'She picked up strange words.'

"Then why did you even bother to ask me?"

"That's because I don't want you guys to despise and reject me,"

After a few more conversations with her father, Nash immediately fell asleep. Because the door isn't fixed, you can see into her bed.

...

"What did you two talk about?" Roven arrived at their room and saw that all his children were present, with the exception of the youngest.

"I told her that I wasn't going to let her join."

"And...?" Ivelisse waited.

"She said that if there's a plan A, there's a plan B," he sighed at how mischievous her youngest is. "And it is to flee once more."

"That kid! She's like that because dad spoiled her too much!" Celeste said.

"I agree," said Daniel. "This is due to the fact that she is the only one who has received father's genes."

Nash had her father's eyes and hair, and she seemed to be a carbon copy of him. Roven's white hair is uncommon in the family, and Nash is the only one to inherit it completely.

"Father's genes are weak. So lame" Celeste continued. Roven simply ignored what her daughter stated as Ivelisse laughed.

Actually, all of them were spoiled by him, but since Nash had nearly died before and had become the vessel of a dangerous creature, he made sure that Nash would live peacefully, which resulted in her being over-spoiled.

He hadn't anticipated her to leave the empire at such a young age though, but he had faith in Vicor, his younger brother.

"Just let her," Vincenzo responded. The twins are taken aback by Vincenzo's response. "She'll either become a squire or join a squad, because she's just 16, she won't be qualified to be an official knight."

"However, isn't it dangerous?" Ivelisse expressed her concern.

"Mom, just let her. Would she really go to such lengths merely to have fun?" He said before saying his goodnight. That was the first time Vincenzo agreed with Nash's decision.

"I'm sure there's no need to be concerned because Brother is there, as well as Uncle Lawrence," Daniel added. "Dad, mom, and sister, good night!"

"Goodnight, mom and dad." Celeste kissed her parents before following her twin.

Ivelisse let out a sigh. "I suppose I don't have a choice. She'll eventually leave for the knight entrance, whether we like it or not. Now I regret how spoiled she is."

...

Nash had a fever when she woke up the next morning. She is moved to her sister's room because her door is broken.

"Aish! I have lots of plans today!" She yelled with her hoarse voice.

"And what are your plans?" Celeste asked as she sipped her tea.

"I'm planning on buying a dress and a pair of trousers."

"I've already given you a plethora of dresses to choose from. They're all brand new. Should I ask the maids to buy a new one if you don't like them?" Nash shakes her head.

"Those Lolita dresses suit me, but I prefer simple, easy-to-wear dresses, and the pants must be comfy for me to wear. I'm also planning to pay a visit to Katherine and Duke Barcley," she said as she petted Dopey and laid down on her sister's bed while staring at the ceiling.

Celeste set her tea on the table and crossed her arms. "They got into an accident."

"What? How are they!? I should really visit them then," Celeste stopped her as she was about to stand.

"They won't remember you,"

"What...," her eyes widened.

"They've been missing for two months, three years after you left. They suffered from amnesia, but that's what the people believed in." Nash brows furrowed, not getting what her sister meant, "The only thing they remember is two years prior to the accident. We suspected that it wasn't amnesia and we believed that they were..."

"...doppelgänger" Nash whispered the same time Celeste did.

Doppelgängers can replicate someone's physical body and memories, but only if the person they're copying has interacted with someone or gone somewhere in the last two years. They won't know about the rest

"They claimed to remember every aspect of their accident. They rushed over to father and greeted him as if nothing had occurred. Our suspicions deepened when Katherine sought to flirt with Daniel."

Nash made a sour face at her sister. Katherine despises Daniel more than anybody else, and Nash is well aware of this.

"She was taken aback when I told her she used to dislike Daniel, and then she said her feelings had changed. I tried to introduce you to her, but she is completely unaware of your existence. We're really not sure if they're really doppelgängers, so it's been almost two years. If they really were doppelgangers, I'm worried about the duke and Katherine."

'That means I won't be able to pay them a visit. How am I supposed to tell Katherine about my adventures?! What about all the stories I prepared in order to make her envious!?'

"I'm going to leave you now. I have to attend a tea party that Lady Isabel hosted." Nash nodded and watched as her sister Celeste walked away.

She takes a seat and mulls over her thoughts. "Where can I find Katherine then?"

She let herself fall on the bed and sleep.
