The World Of Mushrooms

When a completely ordinary teenager finds out he isn’t quite as ordinary as he first expected when the world went to hell. He doesn’t realize just how truly special he is. I do not own the cover, I got it from a screenshot I took on istagram when I was looking at a band called infected mushroom. It is also the band that made the music that inspired me to write this novel

Chapter Four: Drawing Attention

Looking at the last hundred or so Foot Soldiers, Karl made a few smaller swings with his scythe and wiped out the last of the Foot Soldiers, which he had decided to just start calling 'The Faceless' since it was more appropriate for their appearances.

Tapping the back of his skull to check his level after he had killed all 2000 of The Faceless, Karl fell from the sky in shock as the flames from his wings had gone out because of his lack of concentration. Falling from a height of five kilometres high, Karl impacted the ground and created a human body shaped hole that was illuminated by the blue and green light from his eyes.

His level shot up from 45 to 218, his health shot up from 8164 all the way past 75,000,000, and his scythe and spear proficiency grew in several levels as well. Also because of his health and level, Karl had figured out how much EXP he had needed to level up as well as how much health he had been gaining each level.

With 20,010,000 EXP he had reached level 149 with 294,000 EXP to spare, which is where he would have stopped if he didn't still have the 75,000,000 EXP from killing the Guardian, and that had allowed him to reach an astonishing level of 218.

Every level below 101 but above 44 had needed a thousand times his level of EXP, so he needed 45,000 to get to level 46, 46,000 to get to level 47, 47,000 to get to level 48, so on and so forth. But when he reached level 101 the amount of EXP needed for each level increased by 10,000 instead of just 1000, and then it happened again at level 201.

It took 1.1 million EXP to reach level 201, but it took 1.2 million to reach level 202. As for his health, he gained 2 for every level below 11, 4 for every level below level 21, 8 for every level below level 31.

The amount of health gained would double every 10 levels, and because he would gain health every level, it allowed him to have tens of millions of health points at level 210. He wasn't sure if it was normal or not, but it most likely wasn't considering all of the other things that are different about him compared to the others.

While he was in a trance looking at his health and level, he noticed that the ground shook so much that the dirt walls around him started to crumble and bury him while he was still looking at his stats. Because his vision had become blocked by the dirt, Karl didn't notice the massive foot that had started descending upon the hole that he was in.

Connecting with the ground, an incredible amount of force was delivered to the ground and all the objects and living things within the vicinity. Within a 10 kilometre radius from the point of impact, the ground rippled like water as a wave of earth, mushrooms, and rocks spread out in a dome like shape as if a bomb had detonated in that area.

Waiting for a second before removing it's foot, the slightly larger of the two Guardians examined the ground closely as if it was searching for something, and it continued to walk after not finding anything. Underground however, Karl's bones were all over the place as he had been pushed deeper into the ground.

Guessing as to what had just happened, Karl ignored his new level and his health, which had dropped by slightly more than 10,000,000, and with a single stomp blocked by hundreds of metres of dirt at that. Curling his body into a fetal position, Karl started to expand his available moveable space, and he did so by flailing around like a maniac.

After 3 seconds, Karl stopped flailing around as he had made enough room for him to take out his scythe and swing it hard enough to make a pathway to the surface. This time though, he did something he had never done before but was well aware of the fact that he could.

Injecting some of his magic into his scythe, the scythe started to have a dim purple glow emit from it. The glow was caused because of runes that had started to absorb the magic power and charge the weapon, and this caused Karl to become slightly excited as he wondered just what would happen.

He was cautious with how much magic he put into the scythe as he didn't know how much would be needed to make a pathway large enough for him to escape from his current predicament. Only putting a single point of magic into it, he swung the scythe towards the ceiling of dirt above him, anticipating what would happen next.

In the next moment, he was stunned at the power of the scythe, and he watched as small palm sized glowing purple translucent scythe appeared and shot towards the ceiling, only to cut through a few inches into the dirt before dispersing.

Flickering slightly, the fire in Karl's eyes dimmed a little as he was disappointed. Repositioning himself to make the same swing as before, Karl pumped 100 points of magic into the scythe, which left him with 2 points remaining.

He then saw that the glow coming from the scythe was an indiscernible amount brighter than before, and he became disappointed once again. He will probably need to add some free points to his magic if he wants to use the scythe's maximum destructive potential.

Suddenly, the ground exploded as a translucent purple scythe appeared and spun in a circular motion. The ground shook tremendously as the scythe tore through the ground as if it was air while hurtling forward like a natural disaster.

A large canyon that was 100 kilometres long, 10 kilometres wide, and endlessly deep had been created. Dirt and trees that were on the edge of the canyon had started to fall in, the mutated animals had almost all been obliterated as the ones who weren't hit by the scythe attack had fallen into the hole and died.

Karl, who had been blasted back by the force released from the scythe, was shocked in his mind as he wondered why there was such a disparity in the two attacks. He only added 100x the magic compared to the first attack, but he didn't think that it would create that big of a difference.

Looking at the gargantuan canyon that had been created, Karl looked at the bottom to try and see if he was able to figure out how deep it was, but he couldn't. Turning his gaze upwards, he saw that the sunless sky had a few more planets in it compared to the last time he had bothered to pay attention to it.

Since his magic was only at 2 points right now, Karl wasn't able to fly out since it would take more than 2 points of magic to do so, and he just jumped out instead. Backing up to get a slight running start, Karl ran a few steps before jumping up to the edge of the canyon.

The pair of Guardians, who hadn't gone far, looked at back at the destruction caused by Karl emotionlessly. Most Sporelings or mutated creatures had their sense of fear completely taken away as it would help them in being foot soldiers to have no fear.

Landing on the edge of the Canyon, Karl rolled forward as soon as he landed to escape the part of the ground he had been standing on since it fell into the canyon a second after he had landed on it.

Standing up, he looked back for a second before looking at the pair of Guardians that were currently approaching menacingly. With each step that they took, the ground shook so much that more dirt and debris were falling into the canyon, as well as making Karl bounce into the air.

Taking a position as if he was going to charge, Karl used his tail to hold onto his scythe as he did, in fact, decide to charge. Charging at the Guardians, he moved so fast that he had reached them in less than 1/10th of a second.

Crashing into the right leg of the slightly larger Guardian, Karl had barely been able to shake the Guardian's leg as he hit it and bounced away like a rubber ball. Crashing through dozens of trees before coming to a stop lodged inside of a fairly large tree.

Exploding the tree from the inside, Karl looked at the Guardian's in surprise as he tapped the back of his skull to check on his health, which had gone down by another 1,000,000 points by simply being deflected off of the Guardian.

Deciding to add some of the free points he had into his magic stat, Karl expected it to increase as much as it did like the previous times he had used his free points. Then he saw that his magic had increased by 5,242,880 points instead of 5 points like his constitution had.

Not only shocked by the amount that his magic had increased, he was also shocked by the amount of destruction he could possibly cause if he decided to put all of his magic into the scythe.

His eyes, which was just the blue and green ghostly fire, then blazed brightly as he pumped 10,000 points of magic into the scythe. Even still, the scythe was still only a tad bit brighter compared to the second time that he had injected magic into the scythe.

before he swung it though, he remembered that Great Haven was in that direction, and with how much of a difference there was between 1 point and 100 points, Karl didn't feel safe swinging his scythe in that direction.

While magic was still infused into the scythe, Karl had his wings sprout from his back again and he flew up to the height of the Guardians' midsection, which was roughly six kilometres off the ground.

Flying to the left, Karl positioned himself so that both of the Guardians were in a line in front of him while the mountain he had been on before was behind the Guardians, and then he swung his scythe.

Off planet Earth, most of the other planets surrounding Earth each had a ruler, who was roughly in between level 1000 and 3000, such as the six that had met and fought between the two sides.

Anyway, each of the rulers felt something before they looked at Earth, and then they saw a magnificent scene. A large trail of purple flashed across the planet before coming to stop in the ocean.

Each of the rulers each had their own ideas as to what or who had done that, but their were six who were particularly excited about that flash of purple light. They were the six who had fought before, and the two sides wanted to get the source of that light for themselves.

The two sides consisted of the good faction, considered by Earth's morals, was the scaled humanoids, the mammal humanoids, and the tree and plant humanoids. As for the evil faction, it was the Angelic beings and the devilish beings, the last of the six races were neutral, but they did lean more so towards the good faction.

(AN I have to use these weird symbols since I don't know what is wrong with my keyboard. Anyway, I will only be releasing a chapter once a week since I will be writing a Subnautica non 18+ FanFic, or at least try to anyway. I know my writing isn't the best, but I'm trying as hard as possible to try and write as much as possible, but it is difficult with my addiction of youtube watching. Peace out and leave a comment if you see a grammatical or punctual error. Thank you and goodbye for now.)
