Chapter 4

I was awoken by a soft knock on the door, "Miss, are you awake?"

Getting up, and stretching, I walked over to the door, opening it, "I am now."

Grace cleared her throat, "Sorry, Miss. His Highnesses wanted to know if you were up. We are serving dinner."

"It's fine, let me get dressed, then I will go to dinner."

Grace nodded, smiling, "Of course, Miss, take your time."

Opening my trunk, I pulled out my tunic and pants, putting them on, walking over to Grace, "I'm done, let's go."

She said, "Follow me, Miss. The dining room is this way."

I followed Grace to a set of big oak doors. She pulled on the door handles and opened the doors for me, "Here you go, Miss. Enjoy your dinner."

"Thank you, Grace."

Grace nodded and hurried away.

When I walked inside, Easton smiled, "Hello, Princess Edith. Glad to see your awake, come sit beside me."

Sliding into the seat next to Easton, I smiled at him, "Hi, Prince Easton." This was a little awkward, I didn't use to sitting at a table where my family wasn't present, I awkwardly smiled at everyone, I had a feeling I was going to embarrass myself a little, "Hello, Your Magisties, and Highnesses."

Mark smiled, "Hello, Princess Edith."

I smiled at him, "Hello, Prince Mark."

He nodded, "So, when do you want to schedule the horseback riding?"

"When do you have free time? I don't want to disturb your schedule."

Mark grinned, "I'm free after breakfast tomorrow."

"Sure, that works."

After dinner, the princes disappeared, I asked Grace, "Hmm, where do you think they went?"

She answered, "Probably to feed."

Feed...as in biting a human, I cleared my throat, "Oh, I forgot about that."

She smiled, "Well, Miss. When you marry one of them, you will be Turned and you and the prince will feed on each other."

I stared at her, my jaw slack, "What? Feed on each other?"

She nodded, "Yep."

...Wasn't that cannibalism?

We reached my room, Grace told me, "Oh, I forgot to tell you, the royal Astor family is throwing a ball. It is to welcome you to this kingdom."

I smiled, "Oh, okay. I have a question about the feeding thing. Isn't feeding on each other cannibalism, so why would they do it?"

Grace shrugged, "I think it is because drinking each other's blood makes them stronger? I don't know very much about it. But you will, after all, your going to marry one of them, Miss."

Biting my lip, I mumbled, "Yeah, probably."

She smiled, "Anyway, Miss. Is there something else you want to do before bed?"

I nodded, "Do they have a library here? I would love to borrow some books."

Grace nodded, "Of course they do. Come on, Miss. I'll show you the way to it."

"Okay."

Grace went on to tell me all about the library, how some of the books in the library are over 1000 years old and how the library was so large that they needed many many librarians to keep it maintained and in order.

When we got there, we entered and went to the desk, where a young man sat, he looked up at us, "How may I help you, ladies?" His voice sounded so young yet so old.

Grace asked, "Miss, what would you like to read?"

I asked, "Do you have any books about the history of the Night Kingdom?"

The man nodded, "Follow me, Miss." He got off his chair and unfolded himself, he was so tall and skinny. He was probably almost 7 feet tall.

He began walking, we followed him, I looked up above me, wow, there were so many books, rows, and rows of books covered the walls, there were so many floors to this library.

When we finally stopped, the man told us, "This is the History section." He pointed to a set of iron gates, "That is the restricted area." Then he pointed to the floor, then to the edge, "Please, do not fall. Creatures are living at the very bottom of the library. They will kill you and then eat you if you survive the fall down. I will leave you ladies be for now. I will be a few feet away." He walked away. His robes flowing behind him.

I blinked, whoops, I forgot to get his name, I'll ask later, I looked down the shelves, carefully grabbing the books that I wanted. Some of them were in a different language I couldn't read.

When I was finally done, we walked back to the door with the man, I asked, "Umm, what is your name?"

The man looked at me, blinking slowly, "My name is Alexander, Miss."

I smiled, "Well, thank you for helping us, Alexander." I waved at him.

Grace and I went back to my room, I took a quick bath then I said good night to Grace.

Crawling into bed, I grabbed one of the books: The Very Begining Of The Vampire Kingdom.
