A Good Person
As the morning came, the news of the Yamen burning down to the ground spread like wildfire. A notice was immediately sent to the capital, while a crowd gathered before the remains of their once magnificent home for the law.
"Has anybody seen chief Yang?"
The crowd threw a disdainful look at XiangWei before they turned their backs on him, ignoring his question.
XiangWei had always known that he and his profession were looked down upon. After all these years, he had developed a thick enough skin to endure and ignore anything. His pride was shoved aside as he tried again and again. He had to know.
An elderly couple detached from the crowd a few steps ahead, walking away from the burned remains, and XiangWei took this chance and stepped over, stopping them on their tracks.
"I'm sorry, but do you know if chief Yang was in the fire?"
