Chapter 4

"Miss are you sure it is a good idea?"Beth was scared by the eeriness of the place."Don't worry I am here with you"I comforted her though I myself was scared to death.We snuck out of the castle and came to the magic tower.Beth tried to stop me but I convinced her that I was doing it for the sake of dad's reputation.She gave in at last and here we are.

Originally my plan was to live peacefully but after my encounter with the prince and the horrible rumours about Abbot hurt my ego.I was determined to know the truth and protect Abbot .The few days I spent with him bought us really close and I wanted to see the defeated look on Prince's face.

The magic tower seemed like a scary place .There were very few humans in sight and the once we encountered seemed surprised by outsiders presence over there.I went up one of the guard and told him,"May I speak to the tower authorities?I am Amnesia Netherthorn and I came to deliver a message from my father Abbot Netherthorn. It is regarding the recent Epidemic."

The guards went in to discuss with the officials and came out moments later."You may enter but you can't be accompanied by anyone else"he referred to Beth ,I gestured her to stay and went in.

The place was spooky cause I kept imagining about the massacre that happened in this place .I was led to the tower head Mister Thomson.He greeted me warmly"It is a pleasure to meet you Lady Amnesia ,may I ask you the motive of the visit?"."Thank you Mister Thomson.I wondered if you would know anything about the recent epidemic caused in out city."I cut to the chase and asked him.

He seemed surprised but replied "I'm sure you are very anxious and brave to come all the way here to talk about it miss but i'm afraid I can't be of any help to you.You don't have to worry about it cause the problem has been resolved by your father."

I knew he was lying .I didn't want to give up after coming all the way here"you may think I am doing this out of curiosity but you're wrong.The person behind it is dangerous and merciless do you think he would stop after one epidemic?The power that person holds is frightening he might strike back even before we know it."He seemed as if he predicted everything I said and was afraid that it might actually happen."Promise me Lady Amnesia ,That you won't let this matter spread ."he was ready to trust me I agreed"I promise you sir"

"It was Gereth Malfoy the strongest magician of this magic tower .No one knows his actual name.He was a noble and came to join us when he was just sixteen years old.He was a quick learner and was feared by everyone because of his strange behavior.Very soon he became strong enough to surpass even me .Six months back he was secretly studying about these spells which would cause death of people by sucking their souls into the magical Emerald stone.One of the wizard found out about it and told others about it.When they opposed him ,Gereth mercilessly killed all of them."He left the tower after that incident and was nowhere to be seen.Your father found the stone and destroyed it after exchanging half of his life and powers for the Emerald stone"

I couldn't believe it ,Abbot gave half of his life and powers for saving the people and the people think he was the one who caused the whole thing!."Is there no way to bring back father's half lifetime?"I desperately asked him."Only Gereth can do that but it is highly impossible that he would agree to give it back "Thomson hopelessly replied .

Now I understood why Abbot wanted me to marry the Prince ,He wanted to make sure I would live a safe life after he dies.Tears flowed down my cheeks without me noticing.All he wanted was to protect the people and his daughter but look how things turned out.I was confused ,I didn't know what to do next my mind was full of Abbot's thoughts .I became so close to him that I started calling him papa.I knew I had to save him at any cost.I sat down at put my thoughts in line.why would Gereth want to hurt the people ?was he aiming to become more powerful than Abbot or was there another reason?It was probably related to his family.Whatever maybe the reason I made up my mind to find Gereth Malfoy.
