Something is wrong

Kai left the barber extremely satisfied his new look and the information he had gotten, he would have to get a job soon to supplement his dwindling resources.

He entered a convenience store and purchased a pair of bookish glasses which he wore.

He then bought some groceries before going back to the house. At the end of the day he was left with four hundred gold coins.

He walked back to the apartment and entered it. He prepared a light meal and ate it while watching the small TV screen in the room.

Then he heard a bang on the door and he stood up to open the door, a heavy set man stood on the other side of the door.

"How may I help you?" Kaiden asked.

"Who the fuck are you? where is Tia?" the man asked angrily.

"Tia is my sister, she went on a trip."

The man looked at Kaiden from head to toe, "You are her brother, can't see the resemblance though"

"Who are you sir?" Kaiden asked politely.

"I am the landlord and you are owing me rent, didn't your sister tell you before she left?"

"She must have forgotten, how much does the rent cost?"

"Three hundred gold coins a month."

"Please bear with me, I will pay you soon." he pleaded with the landlord.

"Today is Monday, I am giving you until the end of the week, is that understood?"

"Yes sir, thank you sir."

The landlord grunted in response and left.

Kaiden sighed and went back to finish his meal. As he continued watching the TV, an advertisement flashed on the television, it was the marriage announcement of Jonathan and Gwen. Kaiden clenched his fists in fury, after all he had done for the both of them, this was how they choose to repay him. What especially made him furious was the fact that they had mistreated Tia.

Well he would make them all pay for their deeds.

After eating, he sat cross-legged on the floor to examine his magical energy, to his dismay, it was as faint and weak as that of a new born baby, if he didn't even have spiritual energy, how was he supposed to take his revenge. He knew that bringing his energy up would take a lot of resources and time which he didn't have.

Well there was no use complaining about it, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath and started to cultivate his energy.

THE MAYOR'S HOUSE

Gwen sat down quietly while her mother discussed and finalized the wedding plans with three wedding planner.

Soon they were done and the wedding planner took her leave.

"Gwen dear, all plans have been finalized for the wedding. The only thing left to do is to wait for the special day." her mother said.

"That's good to know mother." Gwen said distractedly.

Her Mother sat down by her side. "are you sure you are okay dear?" she asked.

"I am not sure mother, I have been feeling uneasy all day. I feel like something bad is coming." Gwen answered.

"I am sure it's just your nerves speaking dear, in five days time, you would be getting married to the love of your life, what could possibly go wrong?"

Gwen twisted her fingers anxiously, "I don't know mother but I feel things are going to be bad, really bad."

Her mother kissed her forehead, "Sweetie, everything is going to be fine, Kaiden is dead and you have nothing to be afraid of anymore. You know what, I will go to your father's study and get Jonathan. Is that okay?"

Gwen nodded, her mother kissed her forehead and stood up to get Jonathan.

Meanwhile Jonathan and the mayor were talking in the study.

"So how are things in the company?" the mayor asked.

"Not so good." Jonathan replied.

"Why do you say so?"

"The weapons and tools we have been making are not of the same quality as the ones produced when Kaiden was alive."

"What do you mean? what is the difference?"

"Kaiden built the production plant with his energy, it is attuned to his mind. When he died, the plant stopped working. The plant I built isn't able tp produce the same quality."

"Cant you get it to work again? aren't you the genius?" the mayor asked.

Jonathan looked at him in annoyance, "it isn't as simple as you think, getting the plant to work again would mean that I would hack into Kaiden's consciousness and that isn't easy at all"

"Well you have to make sure the plant works or your plant produces things of the same quality."

Jonathan was about to reply when he got a call from the company, he picked it up and listened to what the caller said before hanging up.

"I have to go to the company now." he told the mayor.

"Why, what is happening?"

"Kaiden's plant came alive." he replied.

"What! How can that be?" the mayor asked shocked.

"I don't know maybe one of my methods worked. I have to go over there to check it out."

"Please do. This is wonderful news indeed." the mayor said.

Gwen's mother knocked and entered the study.

"I am sorry to disturb you two but I need Jonathan to go give his future wife some attention." she said.

"why? What's wrong with her?" the mayor asked.

"Nothing serious, she is just sulking. It's nothing Jonathan can't fix." she replied.

"Well I will check in on her before leaving." Jonathan said.

"Leaving? I thought you were having dinner with us." she asked him.

"I am really sorry but something came up in the office and I have to attend to it right away."

"That's okay." she replied.

He bowed to them slightly and left the study to check on Gwen.

He entered her room and saw her hugging her teddy and rocking back and forth on the bed.

He sat beside her and took her in his arms.

"What's wrong baby?" he asked.

Instead of answering him, she burst into tears.
