Chapter 14 (The Awakening)

The shrine of awakening was once an ancient legend that had been hidden for ages until the mighty gods themselves made it decent from the heavens about 1000 years ago.

At first, it was a place for worshiping and the people living there used it to get stronger during the great war. After the great war, the whole place around it was destroyed and as it was a heavenly shrine, it still survived. But the people who knew about it were all dead and thus the shrine's importance was in the draft. As time flew by, the population grew and the land of the shrine was once again getting populated. After about 500 years, a legend named Adas sensed a high flow of power from the shrine and he spent some years researching about the area where he found a book containing the secrets of the shrine and that's how, Adas used the shrine and became the first-ever near god-level teacher, But because of his race having a low life span, he soon died of old age but he spread words about the shrine and now competitions were held to choose the candidates to use the shrine.

And now.....It was Akari's turn

"Hey Yahiro, there have been many incidents where the person who used this shrine loses his life. So just be careful okay?" Akari told Yahiro

"Oh? You are worried about me huh?" Yahiro teased Akari.

"No way in hell. Shut up and die." Akari was annoyed.

"Now now miss Akari. By the way, you know how to use the shrine right?" Yahiro questioned Akari.

"What do you think? I come all way here with no knowledge? Of course, I know." Akari replied.

"Oh, so you are not all about muscles huh?" Yahiro joked.

"Do you have a death wish?" Akari glared at Yahiro.

The both of them put their hands on each--- (writer's mistake ~ahem~)

The both of them put their hands on the shrine and activated the shrine by saying,

"O THE HOLY SHRINE WHICH DESCENDED FROM THE HEAVENS TO HELP US DEFEND. THE SHRINE OF PURITY I BEG FOR YOUR POWER TO HELP ME REACH MY GOAL AND I SWEAR TO NOT USE IT WITH WRONG INTENDS. HEAR MY PRAYERS AND REWARD ME WITH WHAT I SEEK."

The shrine showed no change for a moment when suddenly the plate they had their hands on started to emit light and drew a pattern which started to transfer mana and power into Yahiro and Akari but it was awfully painful.

"AHH I FEEL LIKE MY BLOOD AND VEINS ARE EVAPORATING AND RECOVERING AGAIN AND AGAIN AND MY HEART IS STOPPING AND GIVING A GEAR," Yahiro shouted in pain

"Good for me that spirits don't really have weak veins but even with my pain resistance, it's still like getting hit by a fire spear directly in my eye," Akari complained

"Now I know why you are heartless," Yahiro said.

About an hour later

"How long will it take?" Akari sighed

"HAH good for me mine ended about 40 minutes ago. Sucks to be a spirit huh?" Yahiro replied.

"THIS SLOW SHRINE!" Akari kicked the shrine and suddenly it extracted an overwhelming power in a split second into Akari which made her lose her consciousness.

"Look after me for a bit Yahiro and don't dare do anything." Akari faintly said

"Leave it to me, partner." He replied

As Yahiro touched Akari, he felt an intense amount of pressure. It wasn't anything other than the overwhelming power.

"I didn't know shrines could make demon lords. Anyways I should not touch her haha." Yahiro waited for Akari to gain consciousness and sat on a tree nearby

After a few minutes, Akari woke up with her body aching in pain.

"Ouch ouch ouch, my whole body is in pain. Wait, did he do something." Akari muttered

Yahiro climbed off the tree and came running towards Akari.

"You awake Miss Demon King?" Yahiro said.

"Demon King? Maybe a Spirit Queen. But what exactly do you mean?" Akari asked.

"Miss Overpowered Spirit Queen, when you fainted, there was an unbelievable amount of power emitting from you," Yahiro replied

"Oh, guess it was worth waiting for that sketchy template. Anyways what are your future plans?" Akari asked

"First tell yours. As an assassin, I should always be cautious." Yahiro replied.

"Uh fine. My only objective is to change the laws of this world and make it fair for everyone which means fighting every strong title of this world and that's the reason I came to this shrine. So my next aim is to train myself for the fight. Wait, never mind. My next aim is to immediately start the battle." Akari said.

"Interesting, I truly adore that idea. And for me, I have nothing to do. I came here to check out my strength so I have a request. Can I come along with you on your journey?" Yahiro said

"It's your choice. If you want to then it's okay but I am not responsible for your life or anything and I may even use you as bait. Do you still intend to come and fight alongside me?" Akari asked

"The way you made it sound cruel and how you make it sound so easily how you will conquer this world. I am totally interested in your future and I wish to come with you and fight alongside you even if you use me." Yahiro replied.

"Okay then, Get on board," Akari said with a smile.

"And that's how I formed an alliance with my first ever friend and became the most powerful spirit," Akari said to Yamato.

"Wow, so the higher spirits can use lower spirits. So anyway, if you were the most powerful spirit then what led you to where you are now?" Yamato asked

"I knew you would ask that," Akari replied.
