The gift of madness

Jeras opened his eyes from his sleep and sat upon his bed. He rubbed his eyes to wipe the remaining sleep from his eyes. He was a little confused when he found that he was back in his apartment.

The last thing he recalled was sitting on the anthill and the talking ants that spoke to him. He released a sigh of relief when he realized that it was all just a dream.

"I need to get more sleep from now on," he said getting up from the bed. He walked over to the kitchen to make himself some coffee to have before he starts his day.

He found his cup of coffee ready and got on the table. "Weird," he stated and thought nothing more of it. He assumed that he must have made it while sleepwalking in the night.

He took a sip of his coffee and froze in awe at how tasty it was. He had never tasted better coffee in his entire life. "I should sleep cook more. I am good," he praised himself while he enjoyed his coffee.

He set the cup down when he was done and made his way to the bathroom to take a shower. He took a shower feeling more relaxed and less stressed as he always was every day.

He stepped out of the shower and dried his hair with the towel as not to catch a cold. He found his clothes by the door ironed and ready for him to wear.

He put on a pair of blue skinny jeans and a white short-sleeved shirt. And put on a jacket to finish the look and stepped out of the bathroom. He got his bag by the door and his shoes, he put them on and walked out of his house.

As he made his way down the hall he halted and turned back in a hurry. He rushed back to his house and went straight to his room, his bed which he didn't bother to look at after getting up was made and spread perfectly.

That is when he noticed how clean his whole house was. It felt weird to stand in the room for him, he hadn't bothered or had time to clean the place for weeks and now it was so clean he could lick the floor and not be disgusted.

'This is weird,' he thought recalling the ghost that visited him through the ants at the circus.'I am being haunted by the ghost of extreme cleanliness,' he thought.

He rushed out of the room dropping his bag on the floor. He couldn't dare to turn back for it, he was not brave enough to go against a ghost. The ghost might be able to hurt him but he won't be able to inflict any pain on the ghost.

He took off and headed to a coffee shop. He got a seat at the back away from everyone but kept his eyes open for any signs of the ghost. He had no idea what he was looking out for but he had his eyes open.

"Do you want to order?" a waiter asked him. He was too paranoid to reply to him, after waiting and receiving no answer from him the waiter left him alone.

"Did they leave?" he asked himself when nothing out of the ordinary happened.

"Who are you asking about?" he heard a small voice ask him.

'They are here,' he thought nervously. "Who is there?" he inquired.

"This question again? Anyway, I am Mono," he heard the small voice reply to him.

"Hey Mono, do you have any unfinished business?" he asked hoping he was a nice ghost that only died before donating his wealth to the poor and needed his help to do that. That way he might be able to benefit from it and get a little rich too.

"First of all, I am not dead and secondly, I don't have any wealth for you to benefit from," the voice spoke making him frown in disappointment. He thought that he had hit the jackpot with a rich ghost but it was all a lie. It was just some stupid...

He had no idea how to complete his thought, he had no idea what it was that was talking to him. "What are you?" he asked just to be certain it wasn't a ghost that he was talking about.

"I'm an ant," the voice said. Jeras wanted to laugh out loud at the prank that someone was playing on him. But his lack of friends told him that no one was doing anything of the sort to him. He was a friendless man due to his busy schedule and his weird personality that was a bit nerd-ish.

"Where are you?"

"Down here."

He looked at the table and saw a small ant on the table with its little head looking up at him.

"I am losing my mind," he said panicked at the fact that he could communicate with an ant and understand them too.

"Not really, you have the gift and talent," Mono said making him even more weirded out. All his life he had lacked talent and gift in doing anything and suddenly an ant shows up and starts saying he has the gift.

"I know, the gift of madness," he said and ran out of the coffee shop. He needed to get to the hospital and get his brain checked. He was losing his mind.

He stopped a taxi and paid him to leave him at the hospital. He shook his leg nervously hoping to reach there faster before he starts talking to any more ants.

When they got to the hospital, he got off and rushed into the hospital. There was a long list of people on the line before him. His ticket was number 98 and the teller was only on number twenty-three. He sat down in the waiting area cursing his luck. He sat down next to an old man with a dog.

"Can this day get any worse?" he let out exhausted by the strange morning he had.

"What is the problem?" he heard coming from beside him. His heartfelt warmth has someone worry for him.

"I'm okay sir," he said turning his attention to the old man to find him deep in sleep.

"No need to be so formal," he heard the dog say right before he passed out.
