Chapter 13 - Development

Kaiden arrived at the castle with his cut still bleeding, not even trying to stop it. The guards didn't recognize, with his hood on, him until he arrived l right at the gate with an annoyed and excited look on his face.

All of the guards saw his bloodied-up face and each one of them had an annoyed, scared, or surprised look on their faces, realizing that he snuck out and got into a fight and they were going to be punished for his stupidity.

Kaiden, on the other hand, didn't care what the guards were thinking. He only had one thought in mind, 'I need to learn about this world and the magic I can use!' Kaiden felt more excited than he did in his past life.

Kaiden walked into the castle as soon as the doors were opened for him, all he saw when he entered was a floating old man staring at him with a slight smirk.

The old man didn't look too old, but he had goldish-white hair and a long white beard, making him look like the typical wizard from Kaiden's past life. The old man had bright golden eyes, just like all the members of the Gremmen family, allowing Kaiden to realize the man was related to him.

The old man and Kaiden stared at one another for a while before the old man slowly flew down toward Kaiden. Kaiden could see the air around the old man change shape and seem to obey the old man's will.

"Kaiden," The old man suddenly spoken when he was a few feet away from Kaiden. "How was your run?" The little smirk never leaving the old man's face.

"Great-grandfather, it was nice. I just dealt with a nuisance during it is all. Though, I'm sure you know this." Kaiden said, never letting his golden eyes look away from his great-grandfather's as he did a slight arm bow.

"Oh Kaiden, We may be a large-sized noble family, and come from a powerful god, but that doesn't mean you need to treat me with disrespect." The old man chuckled as a heavy pressure landed on Kaiden, making him drop into the mud, dirtying his already messed up yellow robes, "Calling me Patriarch is much easier."

'This old bastard! Now I see why everyone bows. He loves his position and power, he will make sure you know it too.' Kaiden's thoughts were going through everything in his last life to help him get out, yet he didn't have the power to withstand the pressure or even move.

The Gremmen patriarch watched as Kaiden struggled to move with a smirk on his face before retracting his aura, allowing Kaiden to move. Though when Kaiden tried, he fell back in the mud making him dirtier and his cut, which already grew wider from the pressure, opened more.

"I have high hopes for your power and strength in the future, Kaiden. This family is going to need a powerful patriarch when I ascend. Clean yourself up before entering the doors of this castle." The patriarch scolded Kaiden while he was losing consciousness.

Before Kaiden could pass out completely he heard his patriarch say one last thing, before he flew back up to his tower at the top of the castle, "Oh right, you will be happy to hear you are getting another sibling. I hope you will still be as strong after this humiliation or I might have to throw you away like your older brother."

Kaiden couldn't stay awake any longer and passed out in the mud while the guards, that didn't pass out, ran over to help the kid or in their eyes, the poor fool.

Kaiden woke up after two days, with a maid cleaning his body. When he opened his eyes the maid welcomed him with a smile on her face, still cleaning him up. "Good morning, young master Kaiden, how are you feeling?"

Kaiden didn't bother to look at her nor answer her. He sat up and groaned in pain before the maid tried pushing him back down and he threw her arms away.

"Young Master, you must rest some more, I do not believe you have fully recovered yet!" yet to her dismay, Kaiden stood up and grunted more while holding his head and walking towards the door.

Before Kaiden could get to it the maid froze his feet to the ground and started to walk towards him. "Young master, I know you are a training maniac, but there are times when you need to rest an-"

She was cut off as Kaiden looked back at her with a reddish hue to his beautiful and bright golden eyes. She felt as if a demon was staring into her soul before she fell to the ground and the ice around Kaiden's feet melted and broke while he moved towards the door.

When he was out of the room, the maid let out a loud gasp for breath and started to breathe heavily while sweating profusely. She only felt like that when the patriarch or other powerful family members were pissed. Yet Kaiden hasn't done any training for his Mind, and yet, he was able to make her feel as if he could kill her with only a stare. She only had one word for him at that moment, a demon incarnated into a human body.

Kaiden grabbed his head as it started to shake. He was experiencing the worst headache he has ever had in both lives. He had no idea why he was going through this, but he blamed his great-grandfather. 'I bet it was that damned old man! I'll kill him, I'll rip his head off as I did to those damn traitors in my old life!'

Kaiden could not understand why he wasn't able to keep his patience and calm attitude, like when he was Jay, so he blamed it on himself again for not stopping the resetting process from before. The realization of it made him furious which didn't help his booming headache.

As he was going through the corridors towards the kitchen, hoping that eating would calm him down, he saw his mother.

Elisea saw her son holding his head in agony and went to comfort him and see if she could help him. When she reached him, Kaiden almost pushed her out of the way but he felt as if he was attempting to move a boulder.

"Kaiden, are you okay? " Elisea cried out loud to Kaiden, "What's wrong?" yet her cries made Kaiden's head shake more and only caused more pain. leading him to yell and his golden eyes obtained more of that reddish hue from before.

This caused a reaction in Elisea, since she didn't notice it before, and she subconsciously put her guard up and, to her surprise, she needed it. Kaiden was able to push her out of the way with all of his strength in the push and she sensed a strange aura flowing in him.

She didn't know if her eyes were playing tricks on her or if the world was attempting to help her son. Before anyone could react, Liam showed up hitting Kaiden on his neck causing him to pass out cold.

"You should be resting with another child in you, dear." Liam scolded his wife which she replied with a smile before having a worried look for Kaiden. "I knew you were worried about him and came to check on him, that's why I came to check on you both. It seems something happened to him."

"What do you think caused the pain in his head?" when she recalled him holding his head. "What do you think caused him to lash out and what was that weird aura?" Elisea bombarded Liam with questions, but he answered to calm her down.

"I think our son has developed his Mage Mind prematurely, my dear. "A gentle smile crept upon his face.

When Elisea heard what her husband said she was shocked before joy filled her entire body and she started jumping up and down unable to contain her excitement!

"Our little Kaiden is something special!" Elisea yelled before jumping on her husband. Liam just chuckled before answering something else.

"I think the reason for him lashing out is both the early forming and the fact it might be a little cracked from the patriarch's punishment, for sneaking out and beating on the Great Sword Mage's son."

This scared Elisea, since even though a few cracks to the Mage Mind could be healed with potions, runes, or a long period of rest. Over-exerting it would expand the cracks eventually leading to it being unable to be used and usually, worse.

Normally parents wouldn't worry about their child having little cracks in that center of power since they wouldn't even be able to use the power in their Mage Mind. However, Kaiden seemed to empower his body and even his mind with the little power, he somehow had, stored in his Mage Mind.

Before the two parents could worry for Kaiden, the patriarch appeared in the corridor floating above them.

"Ah, patriarch!" Both of Kaiden's parents stuttered at his sudden appearance while bowing.

"It appears while punishing this prodigy, I hurt his newly, premature, developed Mage Mind. I suppose I should help him since he might become an incredible Mage for this family." The patriarch stated before looking at one of his few, weird-looking rings. As he did, a potion along with two runes appeared in his hands.

"These should fix that little prodigy up, including rest of course." After his analysis, the patriarch disappeared leaving Elisea, Liam, and a knocked-out Kaiden in that empty corridor.

The two stayed bowing for a few more minutes before bringing Kaiden back to his room. They placed both runes on his head and they dissipated into his head and started to mend his cracks and his face slowly lost its agony look. While they were healing his mind, Elisea slowly poured the potion down Kaiden's throat.

When they did all of this, they looked at their son one last time, smiling, before leaving to let him rest. Kaiden's life was about to get way more exciting, and a vicious smile slowly started to form on his passed-out face.
