Chapter 45: Dance With Death
Celestiel was not stupid or slow to not realise Salem had taken an interest in her. What surprised her was how he boldly showed it, not minding that she was already married to the king.
Like brother, like sister.
She glanced away from him as they walked, her smile fading as her thoughts drifted towards Sebastian once more.
She wondered where he had gone as after her small competition with lady Amazerath, she had lost sight of him.
When they sat at the dining once more to eat, Celestiel noticed the seat designated for her husband was left vacant.
She turned to her right to speak with the Queen mother. "Mother, will the king not be dining with us?"
The Queen mother shook her head. "He had some work to do earlier but I was told he would be done in time for dinner, he should be here soon."
But Sebastian never came. Not even when it was time to leave. Salem ended up escorting Celestiel out to the carriage, reluctant to part with her.
