The Overlook.

Coming onto the open rock I can see all the way across the upper lake and even view the lower lake. I'm so far above everything else. It's hard to believe I was all the way on the other side of the lake this morning. A huge smile reaches my face as I sit down at the edge of the rock.

I decide I will camp here at the edge of world where I can wake up and see the sun rise out of my tent. After another moment I get up and open up my pack taking out the gear I will need for tonight. As I am setting up my tent a strong wind hits me and I look up at the sky.

It has gotten a lot darker in the clouds since when I arrived here. I feel the wind hit me again feeling stronger than it was earlier today.

'I hope it doesn't rain.' I think to myself.

I decide to put on the rain fly just in case the weather decides to change. Weather can still be very unpredictable when out in places like this, it's important to be as prepared as can be realistic.

As I set up the tent I notice the sky becoming more troubled looking. I try and finish as quickly as I can trying everything down and finishing up. After I walk around camp once more and make sure all of my things are inside the tent o make sure they stay dry.

I climb inside the tent and take one last look at the darkening sky and approaching rain clouds. It's going to be a long night.

I sit inside bundled up in more clothes to ensure I stay warm. Eating some food helps pass the time before the storm begins and will also make sure I stay warm tonight. After about 30 minutes the first raindrops fall down above me.

I look up watching the drops hit and roll off the surface glad that the rainfly is doing its job. The wind outside seems to be getting stronger as I hear and feel it pushing against the sides of the tent. I try to fall asleep as there's not a good chance I will be sleeping good if the storm picks up.

Oh did the storm pick up. After it became full dark outside the storm was at its strongest the tent was taking a real beating and I could only focus on how everything was moving around. Sleep was not happening while the storm was raging.

maybe 30 minutes later I notice the wind catching under the rain fly. Maybe one of my knots weren't tight enough but slowly I noticed things shaking with the wind more and more.

All of a sudden the rainfly disappears off one side of the tent. I feel the cold wetness of rain as soon as it happens. I am moving as quickly as I can the get out of the tent and fix it. Thankfully my jacket is waterproof windbreaker and helps with more of the conditions but I'm still getting hit hard. On the ground there is water rushing past my feet of the slick stone.

I am running around to the other side of the tent when suddenly my feet slip. I feel a sharp pain in my right ankle before I notice the world tilting as I fall down.

I feel the wet mud underneath me as I slide down an incline. It can't be the large cliff I was looking over earlier but maybe to the side, which means I am falling away from my camp and away from the trail.

Eventually I stop sliding and all I can see is darkness.

Now you are all caught up!
