Prologue: The Journey Begins

About twenty years ago the first humans developed gifts. These gifts first manifested as being able to weild flame or taking to the skies to fly or just being a natural born fighter. Every human is born with a certain level of potential, but few humans actually ever turn them into gifts.

Soon self proclaimed hero's and villians were running around the world out of control. The united nations found this a problem and so to please the gift weilders they began the tournament of God. The tournament's purpose was to give gift weilders a battleground to showcase there strength and courage while earning prestige and fame. Many academies were created to train gift weilders for the tournament of God. It has been said that if you win the tournament any wish can be granted, whether it be money, power, fame, or women.

My name is Yu katai Izanami and I want none of those things. All I ever wanted is to be the strongest in the world, but there's just one problem with that ambition; I don't have the power to back it up. You see I was born with D-RANK potential. That means I almost have zero chance at developing a gift. Gifts are ranked by different letters.

D rank- pretty much useless. no gifts to weild.

C rank- Gifts include heightened sense and above human agility and strength.

B rank- Gifts include energy blast, and  element manipulation such as water, lightning, flame, medal, sand, wind, etc.

A rank- Gifts include flight, and aura manipulation to make weapons or forcefeilds. Also telekinesis or the to weild control objects like cloth, blood, explosions and more.

S rank- Gifts include teleportation, time stoping, mind control, gravity, mass manipulation, invulnerability, space manipulation

I made a promise to myself that despite the fact that I am D-RANKER I will still be the best fighter in the world. You see I am the only male heir descendant in my family besides my younger sister Yin, which means I am the sole heir to the Izanami fortune. Each family has a form of martial arts that they can pass down to their descendants, but since I am giftless  I may not attain my families art, leaving it to die out. But if I win the tournament I can ensure the survival of my family name! You see not only is tournament of God a competition for people with gifts and powers; It's also the worlds biggest martial arts tournament!

But I don't have that much going for me... there are other families that posses both a gift and a form of martial arts. This means that not only do they posses a power, but they also have he skills to back them up, skills I don't yet have. But I won't let this stop me! This is only the begining of my journey to be the best in the world! Tomorrow I will be sent off to an academy( Albeit the worst academy in the world because my family doesn't think I a m worth the investment of a better academy like my sister!) So I can formally enter in the tournament.

I swear on the Izanami name that I will win the tournament of God and ensure my families survival!
