Chapter One: A New Start

Yu Izanami awoke late for the first day of the academy. He slept right through a fitfull dream about something he couldn't remember and next thing he knew he was late.

"Gotta get dressed and go before I'm any later!" Yu shouted energetically as he sprang out of bed and threw on his clothes. In a flash he brushed his teeth and fixed his spiky black hair. Yu lived by himself in Japan. Ironically his mother and father thought he was old enough to live by him self, but such an embarrassment that he couldn't live with them. Being the lowest rank and having no abilities is a hard life to live these days.

Yu grabbed a peice of  ramen( his parents refused to send him any more money for actual food until he proved himself, so in order to save water he ate the ramen dry....), shoving it in his mouth and opening his door to the world. It was a bright sunny day and all seemed normal exept the fact that most of the teenagers were going in the same direction. This would be pretty average exept the fact that some of them were flying, arms outstretched behind them shooting flames, while others took great leaps leaving craters in the stree from the impact of their landing. Yu sighed and begin to jog to the academy, ramen in mouth. "Move out of the way slowpoke!" Someone called out running right past Yu at superspeed leaving behind a blue blur, and Yu in the dust.

In order for Yu to get to the academy Yu would have to get their the old fashioned way. Running. Yu didn't have any special abilities or powers, since he was a D-RANKER. Back when Yu was a child he was tested for any traces of people potential since they first start manifesting around five years old. To his parents dismay the results showed nothing.

For example if a child who developed the gift of water manipulation was tested, the letter B with a symbol for water would appear on the screen showing that his potential is a RANK-B. with the gift being water manipulation. For Yu all that showed up on the screen was a question mark. Since this had never happened before he was just classified as a D-RANKER with no potential whatsoever.

"Well better get too runnin or I'm gonna be later than I already am....!" Yu said cheering himself on. Soon he arrived out off breath at a massive school campus. Students were walking up the steps to what Yu assumed was the main hall. Besides the main hall were the dormitories. Yu paused taking it all in. "Well this is where my journey begins..."

Yu climed what seemed like fifty steps while others just jumped or flew up them.      Long ago Yu had learned that life sucked...get over it. Although his usually happy go lucky attitude didnt show it Yu actually preferred to be alone. He didn't need friends to become stronger. He could becoming strong enough on his own.

As soon as he entered the school the PA system crackled on. A bland female voice came through the speakers." Attention all students....welcome to Strynon academy. For registration please approach the front desk.... I repeat for registration please approach the front desk." The voice repeated.

Yu did as he was told and entered the long line of students infront of a giant screen. Some guy with the gift of invisibility tried to cut infront of Yu, but  Yu shoved back against the invisible force not letting anyone infront of him. He waited in line patiently with his hands behind his head and his eyes closed. Soon enough he felt a boy behind him tap him on the shoulder to which he opened one eye to see that he was next.

Yu steeped up to the giant screen and followed the spoken directions. "Insert finger into slot..." an automated female voice droned. Yu did as he was told, inserting his finger into a small slot in the screen. He sure hoped it didn't read his prophile out to everyone. Too his dismay it did exactly that. "Yu Izanami..... RANK-D... gifts none.... martial art...none."

The whole room grew silent and Yu tried desperately to hide himself. Murmers seemed to echo around the room. "Did you hear that... he's RANK-D..." "how do you even score that low...." "no gifts either....." different voices of students said piping up. " Please grab your registration card.... and proceed to your room." the robotic female voice said, apparently oblivious to Yu's embarrassment.

Yu turned and snached his card from the Despenser next to the screen and didn't bother to wait for the robotic voice to say "Thank you.." before he stormed of leaving to go find his dormitory. "And welcome to Strynon academy...."
