Adoption day..?

I was woken up by Dori, who took care of the orphanage and children within it. I could barely make out what she was saying since I had just woken up suddenly. What I could make out was "Adopted" and "He's waiting."

I got up and she left my room to go get everything ready. I got dressed in a slightly brown oversized hoodie, some ripped grey jeans, and my black converses. I walked out and saw a bag of some clothes that were mine from the drier and some personal items. I grabbed it, of course, and went downstairs.

I see Dori talking to a very tall man. He looked at least on his 40-50's, which was an unusual sight to see because it would mostly be younger people adopting overall. I walked over, and Dori smiled at me. She spoke, "This is your new guardian, Mr. Dowell. He's a big businessman, and he has chosen to adopt you!" She said happily. I frowned a bit because I didn't get to meet the man before I was adopted, but I went along with it and spoke, "Yayyyy...." I say in the most enthusiastic way possible.

Once all the papers were signed, another man, which I suggested was a bodyguard of some sorts, led me out to a nice Maroon Mercedes-Benz and opened the door for me as I crawled in the back. I sat there for about five minutes before Mr. Dowell got in the back as well on the other side.

I stared at Mr. Dowell, as the car started up and began to drive out of the parking spot. I tapped the seat a bit. "Why did you adopt me?" I ask Mr. Dowell. He stayed quiet till he turned to me. "Because you were the only one older than 15 in the orphanage. Also, the lady wanted to get rid of you so bad even if she had to pay. So I decided to take you in and have you work for me." He then turned away.

I was shocked a bit and looked down. I felt a lot of emotions after knowing the truth. I wasn't going to be a part of a family. Not at all, and maybe never...
