Chapter 0: (Pilot)

As the sun sets into the horizon and the darkness prepares to take over the sky, a man drags a cuboid piece of wood half the size of him to a campfire.

"Got another. Luckily I got the damn Geo[1] whilst it was putting itself together, not like we need it but the extra wood would be useful I guess."

There are two men at the campfire, three counting the man who just came. One stares at him in astonishment whilst the other just glances then continues to eat what seems to be a rabbit. The man cried out:

"By yourself?! By whatever gods still care about us, how'd you not lose some fingers? Tell me Isaac!"

The man, Isaac, simply stared and stated as if nothing was wrong "Well I just shot it while it rammed everything around it and I kept dodging while it kept missing. That satisfying enough Joseph?"

Joseph still in astonishment looks to the other man at the campfire eating what seems to be a rabbit.

"Can you believe this, Craig?"

Craig stares up from eating the rabbit, groans, then goes back to eating.

Joseph: "Yeah ok, I should've expected that."

Sitting down by the campfire, Isaac groans and stretches. Lying down he stares into the sky wondering how'd he get here in the first place. Reaching into his pouch, he takes out a book. Its front covered in irremovable dirt and dust yet its font was clear. It read in bold: The Tales of Xovuso.

"One day." Craig says in determination as he swallows whatever rabbit was left in his mouth "One day this will end. If you lose that book, then that's it. We lose."

Isaac smirks and puts the book away.

"Don't worry man, its safe. Plus, unlike the rest of you I can take care of myself."

The fire crackles as the sun disappears entirely from the horizon. Darkness swallows the land. Seeing the ever-growing darkness of the surrounding land, all of them breathe a sigh of relief.

Isaac: "Well, we shouldn't expect any more attacks from now. Lets rest and head out before first light."

The men move out from the campfire to their cramped, damp tent and begin to rest.

[1] Geo: Slang used to refer to the geological entities that appear.

This will be the smallest chapter out of them all as an introduction towards the story. The rest will average at least 3k words.
