Chapter 23: The Court

The hall of the Mage castle of Cynffon Mwnci was silent, all the known Mages sat in reverent quietude, even the younger Mages not making a single sound.

All but one bird was not silent, a white one locked in a large, golden bird cage with the other birds, Unlike the other messenger birds, this one was making a loud ruckus, spreading its feathers all over the cage and flying around inside it, it only settled down a little when Madlen approached the cage to check up on it.

“I apologize deeply, Neifion, but I had no other option; I had to turn you into a bird”.

Neifion Dacus who had been transformed into a brilliant white bird, gazed into the eyes of Madlen as it perched within the golden birdcage.

“We know that you will be the first to run off and attempt to rescue Edwina from the Twr Mage”.

Neifion, in his bird form, gazed at Madlen for a fleeting moment before abruptly taking to the sky and flying around the birdcage with increased aggression.
