Chapter 26

Next morning

I slowly opened my eyes but quickly closed it due to lights. I could feel pipes and medical wires wrapped around me. An oxygen mask on my mouth supporting me to breath. I could also hear machines beeping around me. I again tried to slowly open my eyes and adjusted it to the lights. I made a little noise which alerted everyone present in the room.

-Luna, can you hear me?

I saw Kevin's worried face. He was holding one of my hands and the other one was held by Luka who was almost crying; having to see me wake up.

-Mama?

-Miss Luna, can you hear me?

An unfamiliar voice spoke to me. I slowly turned my head towards that voice.

-Kevin?

They got excited hearing me speak.

-Kevin, where's mama?

-She's sleeping on the sofa right there.

He said pointing the direction towards her. I tried to get up and see her.

-Mama.

Luka happily hugged me and sat on my lap hugging me.

-Luka, how are you now? Did he take care of you well?

-No mama. He's so nice. He bought me chocolates. And that granny also took care of me almost like you did back there.

-Then she must've liked you a lot.

I smiled and got lost in my thoughts that I was lucky.

Flashback

They went further inside and found a staircase to the basement. They took it and found the victims.

-Luna!

Kevin exclaimed in excitement. Timpson and the others were checking the survivors. Luna and Luka stood there frozen to see him here.

-Kevin? Oh my god, it's really you, right?

Kevin nodded. But he saw that you were acting strange. Not after a moment, Luna fell down on the ground but luckily Kevin held her. He slightly shakes Luna's body but she showed no response. She murmured something and only Kevin heard it. He asked for help from the team. They helped him get her to the hospital and admitted her. The doctors reassured him that she's now out of danger. If she'd been brought here a little late, something bad might've happened to her. Kevin sighed in relief and paid the bills. And all this time out of the basement, Luka was with him in his care.

-Mister, how did you know her?

-Me? I'm her childhood friend. What about you?

-She's my mama.

-What? But how? Ok, never mind I'll just ask her. Just you wait, if you lie to me now, you'll regret it.

-You'll see. Humph.

Olivia came running towards them and asked Kevin where she was and he told her that she was sleeping. She calmed down and Kevin told her everything. She talked with Luka and got along with him. Kevin thanked Timpson for his help.
