Chapter 3: The Orphanage (2)

'We're f*cked' thought the two of them simultaneously.

They looked at each other with eyes telling the other,'We've been played.'

After some minutes of struggling believe it or not Venerius actually managed to put the two mattresses to fit in his room. It now looked like a huge mattress with a line in the middle.

Once done with that he fetched them blankets and bedsheets which they made use if before finally laying down to sleep.

As much as they weren't people free from the curse, they still were tired as the Imperial Empire had left them quite a distance away from Eden as they didn't want to be linked with the four or else their plan would be rendered a complete waste.

In the room's darkness a faint hue of red light escaped a young man's eyes. It was none other than Venerius who was still awake, he couldn't help but think back to the head care taker's question.

'Why are you helping them so much?', the answer he had given, though it satieted the head care taker's curiosity it didn't convince Venerius himself.

'Ah, thinking about it will only make my heard hurt.' concluded Venerius.

The actual reason he helped them so much was actually quite simple, his parents.

In order to not traumatize the little boy the head care taker had told Venerius that his parents had fallen prey to the curse while fighting for humanity in the army, instead of the painful truth that he had been abandoned since birth. That was why he felt for the four of them.

In the time it takes for on to blink, morning had already arrived and the orphanage was already bustling with various activities.

Unlike yesterday when they got here after the kids had already gone to sleep, today they would be here to witness just how more than fifty kids could mess a person up.

Venerius had already woken up earlier than the rest of them as he actually had some work to do unlike his friends who were free to do whatever they wanted as long as it did not harm anyone or anything.

He started with mopping the house before the kids even woke up as he knew how hard it would be if they were awake. He then moved in to doing the laundry, that was quite fast as it was the laundry machine doing the work for him and as the early birds started waking up he was already in the kitchen preparing breakfast.

"All in a day's work."said Venerius as he finally finished the work he was assigned.

He then went to the living room where the kids were busy watching television.

"Alright everyone times up, you've all watched enough for now. So get up and go to the dinning hall cause breakfast is ready."ordered Venerius with a face saying 'I'm not taking no for an answer.'

The kids dejectedly stood up and followed Venerius to the dinning hall to get their breakfast servings.

Once he was finished Venerius went back to his room.

"Oh,there you are, Anna and Amelia have already gone down for breakfast you should go join them."he said,"once you guys take a shower."he added as he finally caught a whiff of how the room smelled.

"Don't worry about clothes I have some which I can kend you for now let's go to the bath cause I also haven't showered yet today."said Venerius as he lead the way to the bathroom.

In the bathroom,

"So what did you plan on doing today?"asked Venerius

"..."

"..."

None of them had any specific plans for the day so Venerius decided to share his.

"Well I'll be going to the dojo to train after this tou can join me if you want."said Venerius

"Train for what?"Christopher asked

"Do y'all live in a rock it something?"replied Venerius

"..."

"..."

"Oh sorry,"he said noticing his mistake,"I'm training for the army entrance exam."said Venerius in an awkward way

The reply he got from the two was a simple and brief,"Oh."bringing an end to their conversation

They left the bathroom and clothed themselves before joining the rest at breakfast.

At breakfast Christopher and Jeremy quickly joined you with Amelia

Anna -the ruthless one and the leader of the group- was busy playing with the kids and believe it or not she was actually smiling.

Jeremy, Christopher and Amelia watched this with shock evident in their eyes.

Jeremy couldn't help himself but ask " Is that the same person offering to help me shut up yesterday. It can't be her right?"he asked the group.

"It's her Anna Earhart in the flesh actually smiling."answered Amelia

"Here I thought it was impossible for her to form facial expressions, and yet there she is showing the biggest smile ever witnessed in the history of Mankind!"added Christopher.

Once breakfast was done with Venerius took the dishes to the kitchen cleared the table and went to wash the dishes."

Meanwhile Anna finally left the kids and joined her group and was back to her usual expressionless self, even the luster that her eyes had seemed to have gotten disappeared as though it was never even present in her eyes.

'How can someone change so fast?'the three of them thought in unison.

Jeremy whi still didn't believe his eyes asked,"Didn't you enjoy yourself with those kids?"

Anna didn't even answer she looked directly into Jeremy's aquamarine eyes that state told Jeremy all he needed to know.

He looked away and gulped in fear,'Damn that woman's scary'was all that was in his mind right now.

Once he finished with the dishes Venerius went and changed to his training suit before prepairing to leave as he passed by the group he asked,"Wanna join me?"

After thinking about it for a while they answered,"Sure."

"Okay, I hope you have a change of clothes with you."
