The Sculptor

In the far past, there lived a Sculptor. The Sculptor worked with mud and stone, creating dolls and jars. This was at a time when sculpting was limited only to pots, jars, and dolls. No one had made sculptures of people or animals, grand statues, before. The Sculptor, however, decided one day to create something extraordinary. The Sculptor took a large block of marble and created a figure of a man. When the Sculptor finished the sculpture, they were filled with love for their creation. Because of the Sculptor's love, life rushed into the sculpture, giving it a soul. Shocked at the turn of events, the Sculptor befriended their creation, caring for it in the new world that it had been thrust into. But one day when the Sculptor and the Statue were at the beach, the waves dragged the Statue into the vast sea, dooming the Statue while the Sculptor could only watch. After its creation was lost, the Sculptor spiraled into sadness as deep as the sea the Statue had been lost in. The Sculptor attempted to create another statue, but unlike the first creation, it was lifeless and still. Today, all statues stand still, glued forever into their actions. But maybe, if a sculptor who loved their creations as much as the original Sculptor, life could flourish in the stone blocks dotting the world.
