Mars plays Shikaku

V.2 Chapter 14

Naruto walks over to Shikamaru and Choji after class ends and says "So, you guys joining us today?" to which Shikamaru and Choji both nod while Shikamaru replies "Ya, but our dads said they would like to join us as well, you think that will be a problem?" as he looks up at Naruto.

"Nah, it'll be fine." Naruto says with a laugh while Sasuke walks over and says "Dobe, you forgot we aren't training today, we have a week off, baka." as he walks by and heads out of the door. "Ahhh I forgot." Naruto says while holding his head.

"Ah what a drag, so we need to wait a week?" Shikamaru says with a sigh as he stands up lazily. "Ahhhh, let's go ask Mars." Naruto says with a decisive look. Shikamaru looks at Naruto and shrugs as he beckons for Choji to follow. The three of them then head down the street as they are led by Naruto to Mars house.

Naruto then juts walks right in, without knocking beckoning the two of them to follow as the make their way into the living room, where Mars is sitting on the couch reading a book. "Ah, Naruto how was school." Mars says while closing the book and looking up and then noticing the two other guest in his house.

"Welcome Shikamaru and Choji, I wasn't expecting you guys so soon." Mars says with a smile as he nods at the two of them and waves for them to sit across from him on the other couch, to which they comply. "Mars, you said they can watch and they want to know when they should come watch and they said their dads wanted to join them and were wondering if that was cool as well." Naruto says as he speaks quickly without breathing.

"Slow down Naruto and breath, sheesh. As for you two, Naruto and Sasuke's training is being postponed for a week as they need a break so yall can come watch then and of course you parents can join. Speaking of, if yall want yall can your parents over tonight for supper, and I can explain it to them, and also give your dad that shogi game he wanted." Mars says as he looks over to Shikamaru.

Shikamaru looks at Mars lazily and then says "Play me first, then I'll go ask my dad." as he wonders where he should get a shogi table. "Fine, one second." Mars says as he gets up and heads towards a shelf I the living room and grabs a shogi board with two jars with the pieces on them. He brings the board to the table, placing it in the middle of the table. "You can go first." Mars says as he sets the closest set of pieces, that are in a jar, next to him as Shikamaru does the same. They both set their sides and then begins the game.

The game goes on for about an hour before Shikamaru sighs and says "I forfeit." as he looks up at Mars in curiosity, not thinking he would be beat by him. "Again." Shikamaru says as he begins to get a bit excited but Mars shakes his head as he says "You should see if your parents would like to come so I can explain it the training." as Shikamarus face goes blank before nodding as he gets up. Choji stands as well, as they both head out of the house, heading to their perspective houses.

Mars watches them leave and then he walks into the kitchen, where he sees Anne cooking. Mars walks over and hugs her from behind while speaking into her ear "We might have guest so cook for more, about 8 people" as he kisses her neck before releases her and then begins to help her prep to cook. Naruto walks into the kitchen as he then begins to help as well. After half an hour, when they are almost done, Mars tells Naruto to go and get Sasuke. Naruto grumbles for a bit before heading out to get Sasuke. After another half an hour, Sasuke and Naruto open the door to the house with Shikamaru and Choji behind them with their parents behind them.

Mars smiles as he says "Welcome, come in." as he beckons them in. He then leads them into the dining area where the food is spread out on the table. Mars takes the main seat at the table while Naruto and Anne sit on either side of him. Everyone else sits and says "Itadakimasu." then they begin to eat. "So Mars, let me introduce you to my wife, Yoshino Nara." Shikaku says while he stops eating and motions at the woman next to him. Yoshino smiles as she nods at Mars.

"And this is my wife, Choi Akimchi." Choza says as he motions towards his wife as she nods at Mars. Mars smiles as he says "Well, I'm Mars, Mars Kuminaki, and this here is my wife, Anne Kuminaki." as Anne bows her head at them at her introduction. "Now that the introductions are out of the way, how about you explain how you plan to train our sons?" Shikaku says as he finishes eating his food. Choza nods as he continues eating with his wife and son. "Well, what I do is train the body to allow one to be able to fully utilize their whole body. This helps one to be able to not only have more options during a fight, but for them to be able to accurately tell damage taken or given, as well as being able to control their stamina." Mars says as he stops to sip his drink.

Shikaku and Choza look at each other and then Shikaku says "Well, no offence, but we train our kids to their full potential ourselves, so I don't understand why they would train with you." as he looks at Mars for a reaction. "Ah, well, hmm." Mar gets a bit stumped, as he goes to tell them he didn't have to train them but he thought about how they could be able to help Naruto and Sasuke during missions, so he decided to give a physical example.

"Hmm, how about I show you exactly what I mean." Mars says as he gets up and heads to the front door. "We will have to go to the forest, cause Anne will kill me if I mess up the backyard." Mars says as they head to the nearby forest. After walking for a while into the forest, Mars stops as he turns and says "So, what I do is allow one to be able to control their strength, pretty accurately, like say in percentages. Watch." as he turns to a nearby tree and then punches it, making a 'Whack' sound as fist hits the tree while saying "25%." Mars then punches out again while saying "50%" as his fist lands on the tree, causing a few cracks on the tree as well as wood chips flying off it.

"75%" Mar says as he punches the tree again, leaving an indent into the tree. "And 100%." Mars says as he punches the tree, causing a loud crack noise as the tree nearly explodes, causing the tree to fall away from them. "I can control to the single digit, but it took about a few years. Now I show you this not just to show off, but to show you why you would need to be able to do this." Mar says as he heads to a different tree. He then places his hand on the tree and looks at the other then says "You see, once you're able to be able to use 100% of your strength instantly, you can do this." as he closes his fist, taking a chunk out of the tree.

"Now I did that with no momentum, but with momentum and technique one could easily surpass that 100% limit. That is what I can teach, if yall are up for it, though, it'll be hard, so think hard, and maybe you can do this one day." Mar says as he makes his hand go flat and then moves it across the tree in a slicing motion. After that, the tree begins to slide off and fall on the ground. The others stand amazed as they look at the cut, which seemed to be quite a clean cut. "Awesome." Naruto says as Sasuke looks at the root and then looks at Mars with even more determination, planning to train harder.

"Well, up to yall if you want to train under me, but it will not be easy." Mars says as he looks at Shikamaru and Choji. "Now, I owe you a game of shogi, right Shikaku?" Mars says as he heads back to his house, followed by the others. After getting back to his house, he notices, Anne in the kitchen talking with Choi and Yoshina while they did the dishes. "You guys should go help the ladies; don't you think." Mars says as he looks at the kids. Shikamaru and Choji sighs and groans, as they follow Naruto and Sasuke to the kitchen.

Mars takes Choza and Shikaku to the living room where a game of shogi was played. "Ah, you already played my son it seems." Shikaku says as he looks at the board, while calculating all the moves that were done to the best of his ability noticing some of his sons' tactics that were used. Choza walks over and sits on the couch as Shikaku sits on the cushion by the table as he slides off the pieces off the board and then begins to set his pieces up.

Mars smiles at this as he sits across from Shikaku and sets up his pieces as well. "I've taught my son myself so I know you are should be able to handle yourself, so I hope you don't mind if I ask you a few questions while we play." Shikaku says as he finishes setting his pieces and then looks up at Mars, waiting for Mars to finish setting his pieces. "Oh more questions huh, sure." Mars says as he finishes setting his pieces. "Ok first question, why do you want to train our children?" Shikaku says as he makes his move.

Mars tilts his head as he examines the board before making his move and then says "Well, I decided to train your children because of how they treated Naruto. I'm sure you noticed, but I'm a bit protective of Naruto." as he waits for Shikaku to make his move. Shikaku hums as he makes his move. They play in silence for a few minutes which is broken by Shikaku saying "Ok second question, why are you training Sasuke, from what I can see, you're trying to make connections with the last remaining Uchiha and the Nine tailed container, it's a bi...." but is stopped as he feels a pressure begin to way down on him.

Shikaku slowly looks up to see Mars glaring at him. A chill goes straight down his spine but he doesn't back down as he stares back at Mars. Choza stands up, ready to defend against an attack, but is stopped by Shikaku holding his hand up. "Ha, Shikaku watch what you say, I've killed for less." Mars says as he tones down his killing intent while moving a piece on the board while saying "Checkmate, well Q&A is done here, I'm sure you can see yourselves out. Our training session starts next week if you want your kids to join." as he gets up and heads upstairs to his room, planning to calm himself down.

Anne walks out the kitchen, noticing Mars face as he walks upstairs, she then looks over to Shikaku and Choza, to see them standing, seemingly preparing to leave. "Well, it was nice having yall over. Choi and Yoshino, yall are welcome to come visit me whenever." Anne says as he walks them out of the house. She watches them leave. She turns to Naruto and Sasuke who stay and says "You two remember do not train to much over this week. If you do, forget Mars, you'll deal with me got it?" as Naruto and Sasuke both quickly nod their heads and then runs out of the door, heading home.

Anne closes the door and then heads upstairs to see Mars sitting at his desk reading with a smile on his face. "What was the killing intent for?" Anne says as she begins to change into her night gown. "Shikaku was trying to probe me, I thought I'd give him a scare." Mars says as he closes his book, planning to join Anne in bed. "Well, you should keep calm next time around, you could've scared the kids." Anne says as she snuggles up to Mars in bed. "Got it." Mars says as he kisses Annes forehead before they both slowly fall asleep.
