Chapter 42 Are you alright?

The Chimera had the head of a lion with a blood-caked mane, the body and hooves of a giant goat, and a serpent for a tail, a ten-foot-long diamondback growing out of his shaggy behind.

The rhinestone dog collar still hung around its neck, and the plate-sized dog tag was now easy to read: CHIMERA – RABID, FIRE-BREATHING, POISONOUS – IF FOUND, PLEASE CALL TARTARUS – EXT. 954.

The snake lady made a hissing noise that might've been laughter. "Be honoured, Andromeda Jackson, Jakob Thorsson. Lord Zeus rarely allows me to test a hero with one of my brood. But the chance to face an Aesir? now that's something. Along with Lamia, the sea monster and daughter of Poseidon. For I am the Mother of Monsters, the terrible Echidna!"

"Looks like you're meeting one of your many sisters, Andie." Jakob said to the demigod Daughter of Poseidon.

"Echidna... isn't that an anteater?" Andromeda suddenly asked.

Jakob snorted and snickered in amusement.

Echidna howled, her reptilian face turning brown and green with rage. "I hate it when people say that! I hate Australia! Naming that ridiculous animal after me. For that Andromeda Jackson, my son shall destroy you!"

"Oi, can't you learn to fight for once?!" Jakob interjected. "Don't be a pussy and send your son! Come and fight!"

"…Sonny, kill them. Right now. Lamia, you too."

"Don't order me around, Echidna." Lamia snarled, her voice sounding beautiful. Now that Jakobthought about it, with her revealing nature, she was quite hot. "I'll decide who I kill. I think I'll choose the Aesir." Here she looked towards Jakob, smiling with her fangs. "I wish to test the son of the mighty Thor himself."

Echidna snarled. "Fine! But make sure he suffers!"

Jakob thought of a plan quickly. "Andie, you take the Chimera. Watch out for its fire breath and snake tail. Don't rush in blindly. Echidna won't do anything. I'll take care of Lamia."

"Right, thanks," Andromeda responded, thankful for the knowledge. She took out Riptide. "Be careful."

"I'm the last person you should be saying that to." Jakob said with a smirk.

Before Andromeda could say anything, the Chimera charged, its lion teeth gnashing. They leaped in opposite directions, avoiding its bite.

As Jakob was about to raise his sword and attack, he saw Lamia slithering unbelievably fast towards him. He just had a second to react before he rolled out of the way, narrowly dodging her claws. Huh, so she had claws, too. Damn.

Jakob decided to leave Andromeda to her own devices. She could handle herself He did train her for a bit after all. He turned his attention towards his opponent.

"Stay still, child," she hissed teasingly. "I'll be sure to make it worth your while."

"Sorry, you're not my type." Jakob retorted.

Lamia shrugged, causing her breasts to jiggle. "Shame. Guess I'll have to force you to comply... I always wondered how great an Aesir would be in bed."

"And you'll be waiting for more centuries to find out." Jakob said, pointing the Leviathan Axe at her. "Now shut up and fight."

Lamia hissed like a snake and sprung like one, which Jakob rolled out of the way but he nicked her with the Leviathan Axe as she passed, causing her to hiss in pain. Jakob charged and rammed his shoulder into her, taking her down. Lamia snarled and swung her claws, but Jakob backed off, recalling her claws being poisonous.

Lamia came at the Son of Thor again, but he sidestepped, ducked and dodged her attacks before clobbering her right in the face, then grabbed her left arm and twisted hard to dislocate it, which made her shriek in pain before Jakob kicked her right in the face and knocked her onto her back.

Lamia sprang once again, mouth open, ready to sink her fangs into Jakob but he caught her by the throat and channelled some lightning through his hand and into her body, causing her to scream in pain before Jakob clenched down hard and crushed her throat, her body dissolving into golden dust soon after.

When the gold dust settled, all that was a large fang. It seemed to be coated with a small purple substance that he knew to be poison (AN: Think of the basilisk fang from the second Harry Potter book, in the Chamber of Secrets).

Jakob picked the fang up and looked it over before putting it in his backpack. Suddenly, a scream from Andromeda made him whirl around and his eyes widened when he saw the snake tail bit of the Chimera bite Andromeda in the calf. The floor next to them was torched, the carpet set on fire. The snake tail retracted, leaving Andromeda to kneel in pain.

Before the Chimera could do anything worse, Jakob ran up and rammed into it Rugby-style, sending it flying and sliding along the floor. The Son of Thor quickly turned to the Daughter of Poseidon.

"Andie? Are you alright?" He asked worriedly.

"It hurts..." Andromeda whimpered in pain.

Jakob glanced around, seeing there was nothing that could heal Andromeda of her wound... but there was water outside.

"The water outside." He muttered to her, causing her to look at him. "I doubt you're strong enough to will that much to you just now... you'll have to jump into it."

"Yes, do so!" Echnica cackled, causing Jakob to glare at her. "If you are the daughter of Poseidon, you would not fear water. Jump, Andromeda Jackson. Show me that water will not harm you. Jump and retrieve your sword. Prove your bloodline."

"What about you?" Andromeda muttered to the Son of Thor.

"I'm going to shut this bitch up." Jakob growled, sending another glare at Echnida who just smirked at him.

Andromeda looked down at the water, then her expression became one of determination and she nodded at Jakob before willingly falling back and off the platform, falling towards the water. Jakob watched as she hit the water and sunk beneath it, knowing it will do it's job in healing her.

Now, he had a couple of monsters to deal with.

"And then there was you." Echnida cackled as Jakob stood and faced her, Leviathan Axe gripped tightly in his hand. "I must say, I never through I'd see the day where an Aesir would care about anyone other than themselves, especially a Son of Thor!"
