THE SHOW must Go on

From the deep dark void comes a threat that doesn't want to destroy or conquer, but to bring you into their empire and protect you, the only catch is that you have to join their great show that entertains and streams content out to their whole empire. This show isn't like a regular game show, but filled with brain eating parasites, alien beasts, cannibals, bandits and only 1 rule, keep it entertaining. These aliens have taken over certain cities around the globe and turned them into gaming areas where they give out objective like quests with the promise of rewards including but not limiting alien tech, human augmentation, worldly delights and anything else you can ask for. Follow Sebastion Denning, a broken human being, both mentally and physically, as he tries to blunder through every new horror and disaster that comes his way trying to erode him piece by piece. He has to make his way through with all of the random skills he's picked up through his life along with a massive dose of luck, both good and bad in spades. this is my first time writing so its rough and probably filled with writing errors, but I wanted to give this a shot so if you don't mind don't ripp me too bad for butchering the English language. thanks and I hope you enjoy it.

The moon in the preparation room…

"Mentioning THE SHOW I will now inform you about the terms of finishing the beginning trials, but don't worry the beginning trials are all usually pretty easy baring some random unfortunate accidents that may change the difficulty.", Quirrels eyes shown red with excitement as it finally got to talk about THE SHOW itself.

"The beginning gamer area will start with three achievable objectives for you to complete ranging from very passive way of playing to a more aggressive hardcore style for some of you that may be overachievers! The first and as mentioned most passive is to just stay alive and uninfected for two months, this being the barest minimum to advance in the show it obviously will not grant you as much rewards as the other two. The second is to kill or disable 3 originals, this is the intermediary objective as you will encounter originals no matter what you do so if you decide to stand and fight instead of running this should be achieved quite easily for some. The third is to kill a queen version of parasite 9562 or alternatively a driver queen!", this last was said with a burst of enthusiasm from Quirrel as it held up three of its many fingers, "Queens live in a hive tended to and defended by countless subordinates and thus is not only dangerous but the most entertaining of all the options for advancement, and will give the most rewards in the end!".

"This! This is what it's really about! Go for the gold and burn out as a torch instead of just surviving for someone else to make you their stepping stone, reach out and take as much as you can! The more you gain the better your chances of becoming a legendary myth across the galaxy! The one thing most of the winners had in common was that they were all over achievers and always went the extra mile to get every advantage they could until they had the stars themselves in their grasp!", Quirrel was getting more and more animated, finally just screaming out the last few sentences before thrusting a hand toward the ceiling and making a grabbing motion. Following this energetic outburst everyone in the room was either stunned or shocked into silence from the crazy passion Quirrel just exhibited.

"Ahem um sorry for getting so exited,", Quirrel seemed to realize it was making a bit of a scene, even for it, and so straightened up and started to smooth out non-existent wrinkles In its immaculate suit before continuing, "talking about THE SHOW which I have made my life's work to share to any and all of those willing to watch always seems to get to me."

"Now where were we? Ah yes that's right, upon completing one of these objectives you will be brought immediately to our gamers lobby back here on the moon to collect your points and get any upgrades or gear you want.", after Quirrels off hand comment about everyone being on the moon the room became a buzz with whispering and questions aimed at each other asking if they heard him right.

Seb for his part upon hearing that he was on the moon tossed his spoon up into the air only for it to fall back to him at what he presumed was a regular earth gravity, he also promptly fumbled it causing it to clatter away from himself earning him glares from those nearby.

Staring at his spoon lying a few meters away there was only one response Seb felt was appropriate in this situation, and so he said with feeling, "Sh!t…", after that heartfelt statement Seb reflected on the objectives, it was all like a video game in a weird twisted way including rewards and difficulty levels to boot.

"Difficulty levels…", Seb was quite confident in his ability to cause violence and take a beating, but that was all back in a world where he could get patched back together by professionals and didn't actually have to kill the person he was beating the crap out of while trying his best not to become a parasite horror story himself. If he was going to survive even a day he needed to team up with people…which he was not looking forward to, but well he might as well start perusing those around him anyways to see if he could try and form a group from any of those around him.

While looking around Seb had an uncomfortable thought that caused him to stop for a second as he looked at all of those around him… what if they didn't want him as a part of their group just because of the regular bias he was used to encountering in life normally…

As Seb was worrying about how he would make it in a zombie like game show all by himself Quirrel was moving on to the ending of its explanation, "Regarding upgrades there will also be drops periodically left at random in the gaming are filled with varying items such as weapons, armour, sensory technology, chemical stimulants, biological modifications, food, water and much, much more besides. ", opening its hand a small metallic rectangle with a single circular button and black screen enlarged enough for everyone to have a perfect view of it.

This is a chest and these will be announce by coloured light denoting the rarity of the contents as well as the general area the loot will be hidden. The rarity have different light colours depending on their classification and the rarity scales and starts with white denoting the most common of caches, from white it scales up through green, blue, purple, red, and ending on yellow for the highest rarity containing the most coveted loot that could literally change everything for the one who claims it!", as Quirrel listed off the rarity not only did its eyes return to that excited red glow, but pillars of light flashed into existence behind it as it listed off each consecutive level jump in rarity with each become wider as the rarity increased.

Looking back at the different sized light pillars Quirrel continued, "Of course as you can see the higher the rarity the more you'll have to search the area for it, which will more than likely bring you into contact with others looking to secure the very same loot, be careful and manage your greed.", the last was delivered with another wink towards everyone.

"Of course your species is rather primitive,", Quirrel sneered waving to indicate the fallen soldier where he lay, "the loot will have to be scaled down to a level that wouldn't immediately create a massive power imbalance right off the bat as the sorry state of your advancement would just wilt in the face of even mid-level advancement or tech, this obviously can't be allowed in a beginner area that will have more additions spawning in at irregular intervals.", throughout disparaging Earths advancement Quirrel was poking and prodding at all of the soldier's gear causing everyone to back away as far as possible from the capricious alien as it floated down at their level.

Tiring of poking around the soldier and evidently bored with what it had thought might be mildly curious and worth exploring Quirrel once more levitated up and addressed the captive audience again, "Regarding the loot some of it will effect your overall power score, but that will only be for some of the higher tier gear and all the other loot will just count as forage thus not reflecting on your overall power score.", upon hearing the new term power score more murmuring broke out amongst the crowd.

"I've mentioned power scores a few times and I know it must be a little confusing but honestly it's quite simple, power scores determine your overall lethality and power taking into account accomplishments, gear received as rewards and any modifications you may have received. Power score is all taken into account to determine who and what you will play with and against as obviously we can't have over powered people pitted against low power level ones, which all of you start out as by the way. Lowly pathetic little power level ones hahahahaha!", at the end of its address Quirrel was laughing maniacally bent over holding its stomach and pointing at all those before it.

"God damn he's just…the worst…", Seb was having a hard time dealing with these drastic mood swings of Quirrel's and it was making him uneasy, in his experience people like that were the most dangerous as they were unpredictable and usually had no qualms of resorting to violence one second only to act as if nothing had ever happened to begin with right after, "F*cking crazy prick…".
