The Seeker System

After the 'Century of Phenomena', humanity had declined by more than two thirds it's population and eventually pushed back into 'Zones' where they were forced to live in 'District Cities'. The world outside the zones had become desolate wastelands inhospitable for them. The 'Century of Phenomena' brought plagues and destruction. Turning most plants and animals into horrid mutant beasts, unleashing monstrous creatures from 'Gates', and turning undead, the fallen population of humanity. But, it also brought hope for the survivors to endure the warped landscape. It brought forth an explosive advancement in technology and filled the earth with magic. Humans even experienced 'Evolutions' only seen in fantasy. It took half a century before that Hell unleashed and forced humans back. Now, evolved/awakened humans are known as 'Seekers' that delve into the wastelands within their zones to scrounge for treasures, artifacts, and anything useful. They also clear 'Gates' to procure the same. Life within the 'District Cities' was almost the same as before the Phenomena. Seekers are the heroes of society, and hold much influence. Connor W. Michael is one such Seeker. But, he is the weakest to ever awaken. Abused as a lowly 'Porter', he endures things worse than any mutant, monster. or zombie... Human Cruelty. But this is his beginning, the beginning of his journey from The Weakest to The Strongest.

Century of Phenonena and Life After

In the year 2022, humanity experienced a world altering Phenomenon, the first of many, a red sky accompanied by a equally red mist that seemed to envelope the entirety of the world. At first, nothing seemed to happen, and humanity quickly went about their daily lives. Many experts attempted to study the red fog, but couldn't identify where or what it came from.

2 years later in 2025, the second world altering Phenomenon shocked humanity. Odd multi colored 'Gates' formed within the mists. At the time, no one approached these odd doorways to who knew where. When experts once again attempted to study, they only found that one could not enter or pass through these odd phenomenal gates.

These gates appeared at random, each lasting a few days at a time before vanishing. This too became normal and ignored. The third came swiftly after the arrival of gates. It came in the form of 'Evolutions' or 'Awakenings', in which some humans would become several times stronger than normal.

The fourth phenomenon was the sudden dispersion of the fog and red sky. It vanished as quickly as it appeared. The fourth was accompanied by the fifth, gates were now able to be entered. They also lasted longer. With this new discovery, the sixth phenomenon was born, through human hands.

Technology only dreamed of brought humanity to a new age. With the creation of this technology, phenomenon seven presented itself as 'Mana' or 'Magic'. Awakened had this flowing through their bodies, and utilized it, some better than others. It also permeated from almost all vegetation and animals.

Humanity thrived for 40 years since the first phenomenon arrived, peace ensued and humans thought themselves blessed by God. They even went through odd genetic mutations. Hair colors began to vary beyond normal. Pinks, reds, blues, greens, ect. Even eye colors became colorfully vibrant.

But, 2063 brought 'Phenomenon 8'. Gates opened, spilling monsters and demons into the world. It started small, but gradually grew into a major issue that could hardly be contained.

Nine followed up with many plants and animals mutating into horrid beasts, causing further chaos and destruction. Cities began to fall, countries crumbled and humanity became afraid. Then the tenth phenomenon reared its ugly head. A third of the remaining human population mutated. Some became 'Undead' others a variation of feral mutants.

Humanity fell back into mere corners of their once prosperous lands, and established 'District Cities' within 'Zones'. Humans that received Awakenings became known as Seekers. Seekers sought after items, treasures, artifacts, cleared gates, and provided the remaining human race a sliver of hope to survive in the warped new world.

It took decades to finally build the 'District Cities' into safe areas. These cities were quite large, some able to comfortably accommodate a population of a few million. They were fortified heavily with thick walls of steel and concrete and many layers of magic barriers.

Gates only appeared outside the cities, as if acknowledging the cities as a safe zone for the weary humans. Though it did not mean that undead, mutants, monsters and other threats would avoid them. Hordes of enemies would occasionally attempt to siege the cities.

By, 2110, life within the cities almost became like time before 'Phenomenon 8'. But, peace could never be attained in this new world. The barrier skies would always be a constant reminder that humanity was one cursed phenomenon away from extinction.

2111 founded the Seekers Asociation. Replacing governments. 2115 saw the establishment of communications between District Cities. 2118, magic ores were smelted with metals like copper, silver and gold to establish a new monetary system. Copper Magia, Silver Magia, and Gold Magia coins became the new currency. (Latin for Magic)

2120 brought back portal travel between districts even in different zones and countries. Humanity adapted.

2121 Seeker Guilds branched from the Asociations all across the world. 2122 established Ranking systems for Seekers based on their Magic capacity. They also gave them classes.

The ranks were based as so;

F Rank- Less than 20 Magic.

E Rank- 20-119 Magic.

D Rank- 120-319 Magic.

C Rank- 320-519 Magic.

B Rank- 520-819 Magic.

A Rank- 820-1,019 Magic.

S Rank- 1,020+ Magic.

For every ten increase in magic capacity, the basic stats of a human are increased explosively. If an E Rank with 20 magic were to be compared to a normal human, the power in their bodies would be double.

S ranks were considered Monstrosities. If two were to fight eachother, the landscape around them would be changed from the massive output of magic.

The classes were categorized like so;

Seeker:

-Hunter class, specializes in precise attacks, typically with bows or other mid to long range weapons.

-Guardian Class, tanks.

-Assassin Class, relies on stealth and shadows.

-Mage Class, utilizes their magic in the most efficient way and manifests it better, with more power, than any other class.

-Swordsman Class, close combat specialists.

-Healer Class, self explanatory.

-Rogue Class, has no particular set of specific skills, can have a mixture of other classes skill sets.

These were put forth to balance out the teams sent out by guilds. Success rates of these teams were vastly improved. Casualties were rare, and only happened during hordes or C Rank and up, Gates. Occasionally, Seekers would stray too far from their zones and encounter their death.

2125 saw the popularization of Seekers, and the hero treatments they received within society. 2126, Seekers earned higher income due to this popularity. 2127, Seekers gained personal popularity/favoritism based on individual achievements.

2128, Seeker Tournaments established for the public to enjoy, further boosting Seeker popularity. Moral increased, and zones as a whole became safer to explore due to Seekers continuously clearing threats from the areas.

2137, land outside of zones dubbed No Zones or Wastelands, and are unexplorable due to Evolutions of monsters and other threats being to much for even S Rank parties.

2142- Present.

New book! New Idea, had to get it out of my head. Hopefully it's enjoyable. I know I got lots of works yet unfinished, but going on continuously on those singular ideas, drained my creativity, so I had to move on... to this!
