Secondary Magician

Soon everyone was separated and Ranjha and the long hair boy beside him followed Hari Sir,

Ranjha couldn´t stand the suspense and finally asked,

"What do you mean he defeated an Attack Magician?"

"Well, you have heard of the Centre for Adventuring and Ranking in Massa right?"

"Yup, you can go there, battle and get ranking or stats, many people use it for better wages and jobs"

"Yaa, so there is a record that he beat an unnamed attack magician, and you know how all battle registrations are made by blood so it cannot be cheated on, yet after the defeat the Attack mage removed their name and only their rank remained."

"So, are we sure he didn´t pull any tricks"

"How dare you, because of people like you the Raven news never printed the story because `he might have cheated´, those bullshiters all his stats are proof he could do it, yet he always chose never to comment on it because he cares about his opponent´s image."

Ranjha almost stopped walking in these old looking hallways upon hearing this, beating an attack magician alone is something even magic swordsmen have a lot of problem with, so a secondary mage winning was unheard off, this is when he heard another voice from the top of the group,

"Keep moving, keep moving and don´t believe everything you hear on unknown leaflets"

This was Hari Sir talking directly to Ranjha, who picked up speed and started walking beside him,

"So, it is false, I knew it no secondary magician can beat a proper one"

"You think I am not a proper magician boy? I never said that story is true or untrue, but I can tell you this much that I am much more of a `proper magician´ than anyone else in this whole academy"

Hari Sir replied with a confidence and menace that shook Ranjha to the core, something inside him already started to respect this man and knew that his claims should not be contested.

Soon they entered and sat down in a small dingy classroom, and yet Ranjha and all his compatriots were just looking at Hari Sir. As Ranjha sat down the longhaired guy pushed through a couple of people to come and sit beside Ranjha.

"Why are you so eager to sit with me, I don't even know your name"

"Don´t take it personally I just want to talk to those two girls you were with before and for that I will have to stick to you, Kunal by the way"

"Ranjha, fine but you know you are weird right"

"Sure, now Hari Sir is speaking don´t disturb me"

Ranjha looked forward and saw Hari trying to count the number of people, we were around 15 people here.

"Ok guys welcome to the academy and the toughest course out here, every other class is talent based but secondary magician doesn´t work like that, it´s all about hard work here"

"Tell me what part of the exam, decides your qualification for this class?"

Kunal stood up and said academic,

Hari sir smirked and said,

"Right but people say that knowing and implementing are two very different things, this year we even have the first ever student to ace the written exam, let´s see how he performs, Ranjha can you stand up for me"

"Ooh its you, so you do know a bit about strategy and field control and still think we are not a "proper magician", I read your application you applied for attack magician, brother I can´t make you an attack magician in this class but I can damn well make sure that you are the best magician out here"

As he said all this Ranjha was feeling awkward yet he stood straight and didn´t really understand his meaning of the word magician.

"Sit down, everyone what are magicians, they are someone who can do something extraordinary, they are someone who can defy the laws of this world set only for those who are not magically capable, a magician is someone who can even turn the unimaginable into reality."

"I will take the example of water, most attack magicians learn how to use water bash, where they take a bunch of their mana convert it to water and hit you with it, powerful stuff but if I give a tank a big enough water bucket, he can do the same, that's not magic that´s just a bit of convenience, whereas we will learn water bullets, to make precise small cones of water and accelerate them fast enough the go through a skull, now tell me who can do that without magic."

"Magic is art painted using mana, but just having more paint doesn´t make you an artist, so all of you learn the intricacies of magic the history the present and make the future, I would not teach you spells and incantations in this class, I will teach you control and usage, I will teach you how to paint"

For the first time Ranjha was happy to be a secondary magician, because he got to meet Hari Sir and screws to a better understanding were moving in his head.

"Now this seems like the only time we meet alone as this class will also be attended by attack magician students but it is an ungraded class for them so half of them are too cool to show up, but get ready for the toughest 4 months of your life, there are 15 of you here and I expect no more than 5 to pass the whole course so best of luck"

It was at this point Ranjha understood that his journey to become an adventurer was just beginning, and it wasn´t going to be easy.

Afterwards the course calendar and the subject lists were distributed and all of them had to take their compulsory subjects, that were for the secondary magician,

Trap and Assist Magic (TAM)

History of Magic

Strategy and Tactics.

They had to register in the magic system with a drop of blood and everyone was allowed to take an additional subject that would remain ungraded. Ranjha started reading through the rest of the subjects: -

Combat

Weapons mastery

Power defending

Attack Magic.

Ranjha though happy still had a lingering regret, in his heart he still idolised attack magicians and thus he poked his thumb a bit stamped on TAM, History of magic, Strategy and tactics and with some doubt Attack magic.

Hari smirked from across the room thinking this time it´s going to be fun.
