After Saving

As Hannah moves to reach Mira's hand, one of her feet slipped from the railings.

The people from the ground in front of the building screamed in panic as Hannah began to fall.

Everything happened too fast that before Mira knew it, she was already moving forward. Her body slammed against the railings, just in time to catch Hannah's arm, however, Hannah weight was too much for her. Hannah's hand started to slipped from her hand.

Grunting, Mira's other hand reached to hold Hannah's arm. A stinging pain from her ribs ran through Mira's body, so painful that she felt like she was punched but she held on.

From watching dramas and movies, people probably thought that its easy to pull someone who was dangling and about to fall from a building but that's not true. It is possible to pull someone who is dangling up but its definitely not easy. In order to do it, you need to have a huge amount of strenght and some kind of technique o utilize whatever is around you.

Mira'a mind, however, is completely blank. Her whole mind is focused on the task of not letting go that even breathing feels so difficult to her.

"Hold on." She said, grunting while looking at Hannah's face. She took a deep breath before trying to pull Hannah up, however, Hannah's arm only slipped more from her hands.

Mira felt like crying. Her heart was pounding so much that its the only thing she could hear. Her eyes met Hannah's terrified ones. Mira tightened her hold, but it seemed to be not enough. With wide and panicked eyes, they watched as Hannah's hand slowly slipped away from hers.

"No. No. No." Mira wanted to readjust her hold but cant. She can only helplessly watch as Hannah's hand slipped inch by inch from her hold.

Suddenly, another arm went to hold Hannah's arm, just when Hannah was about to fall. Mira's heart that was pounding furiously started to calm down. As if the presence of the person beside her was more than enough to drive all of her fears and panic away.

With a grunt, Eugine exerted force to pull Hannah up, his right shoulder shaking in protest. Together, Mira and Eugine successfully pulled Hannah into safety.

Hannah sat on the floor, staring blankly at her hands before looking at Mira and Eugine. Then, she started crying.

Mira's leg finally gave in. She slumped to the floor and realized that her whole body was shaking.

Only Eugine was left standing. Clutching his right shoulder, she looked between Mira who was shaking and to Hannah who is crying, not knowing which one to comfort.

He wanted to go to Mira, but it seemed wrong. It was Hannah who almost died and the one who needs to be comforted the most. But Eugine also thinks that it wasn't his and Mira's fault anyway, and that they dont owe Hannah anything.

In the end he went to Mira and ignored Hannah.

The rooftop door slammed open again.

"Mira!" Jamie called while panting, with Kang Jun behind her.

They scanned the surroundings and found the three sitting on the floor. Not long after, the teachers arrived.

No one spoke while they are being led down to the guidance office by the teachers.

"Why dont we bring them to the infirmary first?" A teacher suggested. The faculty present agreed and they started heading to the infirmary.

The four friends quietly followed while walking behind the teachers. When they arrived at the infirmary, they went in without a question.

Inside, Jamie pulled Mira and Eugine in the corner while Hannah was being checked by the school doctor.

"What happened?" Jamie asked in low voice.

Whispering, Mira narrated what happened in the rooftop. They listened quietly, unaware that their own class adviser was also listening to Mira's narration.

After Mira finished talking, the trio looked into each other. It was Jamie who spoke.

"Wow. I dont know if its lucky or unlucky that you were there Mira."

"How did you get there so fast anyway?" Kang Jun asked Eugine.

Eugine grimaced. "Mira went to the rooftop, so when I heard that someone was in the rooftop, I immediately went there..."

Eugine felt embarrassed to continue but Jamie seemed to realized what he was thinking.

"So? You thought Mira was the one going to jump?" She continued for him.

Eugine coughed while looking away.

"Anyway, you're really amazing for the fact that you're already on the rooftop when everybody was just realizing what's going on." Kang Jun laughed and slapped Eugine's shoulder.

The sudden intense pain caught Eugine off-guard. He gritted his teeth to prevent himself from crying out in pain.

When Mira, Jamie and Kang Jun saw Eugine grit his teeth and went pale, their good mood suddenly disappeared.

"Eugine, what's wrong?" Mira found herself asking before she could think about it.

"Its nothing." Eugine answered.

Their class adviser immediately noticed that something was wrong when his group of students suddenly went quiet.

Noticing the way that Eugine was carrying himself, He immediately called the school doctor when he saw that she was done checking Hannah.

Another teacher went in and said something to the principal. Looking worriedly at the 3-A students and to Hannah, he informed them what he just heard.

"Hannah's parents are already in the office. We'll bring Hannah there so she can see them. Can you take care of the matters here?" He asked the class 3-A adviser.

The class adviser of the 3-A is a man named Nikolas. Nikolas has been teaching for only two years but despite of that, he's pretty capable. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in his University and was offered teaching positions from all over the country. In the end, he chose to work in ISOA. The principal felt relieved to leave the matters to him.

Before the principal left, Summer, the school doctor quickly said some words to the teachers. She reminded them to carefully approach and talk to Hannah and reminded them not to show any blame and displeasure to the student, seeing that Hannah's psychological state might still be unstable and fragile. The teachers nodded and took note of her reminders.

Dr. Summer worriedly watched Hannah until they left the infirmary before looking at the teacher and students on the other side of the room.
