Vigilante: The Nightclub Part 2

Riley heard a third voice chip in.

"Didn't you guys hear? That warehouse got hit the other day. Police bagged everything in there."

"Shit, really? I heard we got hit but I had no idea it was that warehouse."

"Do we know who did it?"

"No clue man. We haven't been able to contact the guys who got caught. I hear some of them even have brain damage."

"Fucking hell."

"Yeah. I think the police are saying it was one guy who did it, but I don't buy it. One guy can't take on four of us just like that. It must've been a team."

"Maybe he took them out while they were asleep? I heard that they didn't even bother locking the door to the warehouse. Complete fuckin' idiots."

"The police say there was a struggle. Shots fired, tables overturned."

"Wasn't there a lieutenant stationed there too?"

"Yeah, but she stood no chance either. Even had one of her knives stolen."

"For real? Now I see why you don't believe it was just one person. Those guys don't go down easy."

"Right? Anyway, I'm gonna go downstairs to order some food cuz the fridge is empty. You guys want anything?"

"Na, I'm good."

"Me too."

"Okay. Imma ask the guys inside if they want anything."

After a brief pause, the conversation started up again.

"Right, I'm heading downstairs. You guys wanna come?"

"Sure, why the hell not. Not like anything's gonna happen anyway. Mike?"

"Yeah, sure."

Hearing three sets of footsteps approaching, Riley hugged the wall next to the door. After three seconds, [Shadow Blend] activated and he blended into the darkness.

The door opened, and three men walked out. Riley waited a few seconds for them to leave, then slowly opened the door.

In front of him at the opposite side of the room was an open door that led into another room.

'Based on what I heard just now, there's more people inside that room. Probably the owner's office.'

Closing the door behind him, he quietly made his way towards the inner room and peeked in. Immediately to his left were two couches and a coffee table in the middle. To the far left was an ornate, wooden desk and leather chair. Just behind the chair was a large bookshelf.

Two men were seated on the couch nearest to Riley, facing away from him. One was playing on a Nintendo Switch and the other was browsing something on his phone.

'This shouldn't be too hard. I just knock them out and tie them up. Better do this quickly before the others get back.'

Without a second thought, he ran into the room. Bringing out his bat with <Quick Draw>, he gave the closer thug a solid swing to the head. Before the other could even react, Riley had already brought his bat back for another swing. In a matter of seconds, both were incapitated. Returning his bat to Inventory, Riley got to work binding and gagging them.

After that was done, he set about investigating the room.

'First, the desk.'

Riley spent a good five minutes inspecting every nook and cranny of the desk, but couldn't find any evidence of illegal activity.

'Of course it wouldn't be that easy. Especially since the police raided the place and couldn't find anything.'

Before inspecting the bookshelf, he noticed some scratch marks on the floor to the left.

"What's this? <Analyze>!"

"Scratch marks caused by the continuous shifting of a heavy object over an extended period of time.

Riley's eyes widened.

'No way.'

With both hands, he grabbed hold of the left wall of the bookshelf. Using all his might, he slowly shifted the bookshelf to the left, revealing a secret door.

'Holy shit that's so cool! I didn't know these were a thing in real life!"

There wasn't much in the secret room: some documents and a few packets of white powder.

'Probably cocaine.'

"<Analyze>!"

"Pure, uncut cocaine imported from Colombia by the People's Brotherhood. Average street value $213 per gram."

'Yep. Now let's take a look at these documents.'

There was nothing too exciting about the documents. From what he could see, they were mostly ledgers and shipping logs for the illegal contraband that the gang trafficked.

'Still, the police should know about this. It should be enough for the police to make some big time arrests.'

Riley photographed all of the documents on his phone. As he was about to forward the pictures to the police community phone number, he realized that he would be giving away his identity by using his personal mobile phone.

Riley exited the secret room and went to pick up the phone that one of the two men had dropped. Using it, he snapped pictures of all the documents and drugs that were inside the secret room and sent them all to the police community phone number, along with the following messages: "the thorn nightclub. third floor office. secret room behind bookshelf. you're welcome."

He knew he was being snarky but Riley just couldn't resist. Twice now he had done what the police couldn't; finding the weapon shipments and identifying evidence of illegal activity within the nightclub.

After he had finished texting the police, he tossed the phone back onto the floor and pushed the bookshelf back into place. Just as he had finished, he heard the outer door open and three sets of footsteps coming in.

After a few seconds, two of the footsteps stopped but the third kept going.

'He must've brought food for these two. This is my chance to take one out and even the odds before the fight even starts.'

Riley quietly made his way toward the door that led to the outer room.

"Hey Joe, I got you your wings. We figured we would wait downstairs and have a drink instead of having them send the food u-"

Just as the man rounded the corner, Riley swung at him. The gangster flew backwards, out of sight of Riley.

"What the fuck!"

'Hopefully that takes care of him. Now for the other two.'

Activating <Extreme Agility>, Riley sprinted out. The two men outside were already drawing their guns.

'Wow they act fast. A normal person would be paralyzed with fear and shock.'

Just before he could point his gun, Riley batted it out of his hand. He then utilized his momentum to shoulder bash the gangster in the stomach, leaving him completely winded and on the floor. He then quickly spun around and threw his bat with both hands at the other man. It hit him in the right shoulder, causing the gangster to drop his gun. Not one to miss an opportunity, Riley quickly tackled the man to the ground.

"The police are coming. It's all over for you."

The gangster's eyes widened, then narrowed in anger.

"Who the fuck are you? Do you know who you're fucking with?"

"Yada yada I've heard it all before. My turn. Where's your boss, George Lombardi? I have questions for him too."

The man smirked.

"If what you say is true, and the police really are coming, then the boss is already long gone. Our contact would've made sure of that."

Riley realized that he didn't have any more time to waste questioning the subordinates; he had to leave before the police arrived. Which is exactly what he did after tying up the three men.

'Mission accomplished. Time to head home.'

Riley stepped into his house, having checked his mission rewards on the way back. He received a total of 740 xp, resulting in 2 level ups, and his <Incognito> had leveled up to 3. After taking a brief shower, he flopped onto his bed and fell asleep instantly.
