Chapter 9(The Kanes)

Nathan wakes up panicking but was relieved when saw that it was all dream. These were the last words of Ethan and Luiz before they shot him.

It was now a regular dream hence it is now his nightmare. it is always very painful, his last moments. There face kept on reappearing to him.

His doctor had already set up a therapy inorder to help him improve especially his mental and emotional being.

It have been six months since the incident that got Nathan shot. He was in coma for close to five months.

It was like dieing except you know you don't actually die. It was like being trapped in a limbo, a pathway to wherever he was meant to go if he was dead.

The doctor told him that no one could survive such a thing that his strong will to live saved him.

"You must have an unfinished business here on earth" the doctor said

"How do you mean?" he asked

"You were shot in the heart, leg and also at your pancreas. It takes a miracle for one to survive that"

"Maybe I am just lucky" he smiled eliminating the confused strains on his face

"Yeah but I believe there is more to that for no one can be that lucky" the doctor stated

Surely even a fool knows that for he is still alive to finish an unfinished business.

Nathan have made remarkable progress especially on his physical being thanks to an ancient Greek ointment administered to him. He is though still on crutches .

The ointment is a healing portion that was given to the Kane's family years back. It is a powerful and magical oil that heals and improve it's patient.

"How are you doing son?" Mr Kane asked him

"Am doing fine sir" as he keeps up with his exercise.

He continued "How was your night?".

"Nothing special son but it was refreshing though" he answered.

"I am going for a meeting I will back before you realize I am gone" as he left

"Take care sir" Nathan said

Mr Kane whose full name is Nicolas Kane is the head of Kanes Consortium. The biggest organization in Swiss country.

Nicholas Kane has been the head of the organization for forty years and counting. The Kanes Consortium is a family business that date centuries ago.

Nicholas is a very powerful and extremely wealthy man but despite all this he was declared impotent by the doctors.

This ended his relationship with his wife and his consequent marriages. It was painful fate for him but he accepted it wholeheartedly or so he thought until he began to grow into the wrong side of age.

He is three months from his seventy-eight birthday and yet no offspring to show for. The board has already started to disturb him on who will succeed him.

It was a question he pondered on day and night and this made him unhappy. His family linage was about to end with him.

It wasn't always so for the Kanes, they were many once but something happened.

Nicholas Kane is the first son of his father. He had a younger brother, Max Kane.

Max Kane is Nathan's biological father but he was killed with his entire family in a staged accident.

It was a day to forget. Max left with his wife and two kids, Nathan and her sister to go shopping. They were on vacation in France.

On they way to boutique de Paris they had a car brake failure and the rest is history. All died instantly except a five years old boy who came out unscathed.

The five years old boy, Nathan was then taken in by a strange woman who after a year gave him out to the orphanage.

After many investigations the accident was declared staged but by who?

The Kanes had many enemies but how many of them will have the guts to touch a member of they family obviously very few of them.

It was narrowed down to three families; The Xanders, the Kims and the Sons. They were long time enemies of the Kanes

Nicolas Kane tried everything possible to find the only surviving being in his family especially when he was told that he was impotent.

After about fifteen years of intense search he finally found the boy. This was largely due to Nathan infamous incident with the Queens where he was broadcasted all over the country.

Every Kanes have a mark given to them at birth. It is a way of identifying any member of their family. It have been a long time tradition.

Sir Kane saw him on one of those station broadcast when he was still on the run. Mr Kane was already desperate given his old age and a need for a successor he swung into action.

He wanted to find him before the agency could but he was too late for his men appeared minutes after he was shot but still they carried him home.

Mr Kane was in pain for the family's only hope was about to die but thanks to his trained doctors and also his ancient Greek ointment, Nathan was able to make it.

The board was already running out of patience for Mr Kane. They needed him to provide a successor.

Knowing that he had no children or relatives they politically connived together to make sure that he resigns and appoint one of them.

The leader of this set of people, Sir Alphonsus the head of Administrative office in the Kanes Consortium.

Mr Alphonsus, a fifty two years old man is one of the longest serving staff in the Kanes Consortium.

He is a very smart, intelligent but his very ambitious nature always seems to bring out the foolish and dubious part of him.

Mr Kane was given two weeks to provide a heir or appoint someone from the board but little did they know that they careful plans will surely disappoint them.

Mr Kane is very happy after a very long time for finally his family legacy will not end with him.
