Chapter 19 The Day Of The Festival

As Wendy waited by the college gate she glanced at her phone and asked "Did he have to cancel." As Wendy glanced to her left she seen Silver running with Amber on his back breathing heavily as he shouted "Sorry for making you wait!" Wendy stared at them and said, "Guess he didn't cancel." Silver stood there breathing heavily as he said "I had... to run all the way here... sorry for taking so long... I got caught up with work." Wendy stared at him and said, "It's fine, you had work to do so it couldn't be helped."

Silver glanced at her and said, "I had to run back to the daycare too, then I had to run all the way here, so just give me a minute, to catch my breath." Amber tapped on his shoulder and said "It'll be easier to breathe if you put me down." Silver glanced at her and said, "Yeah, I guess your right." As Silver set her down he stretched and said "I still feel like I'm forgetting something though." As the boy from yesterday walked towards Silver he put on brass knuckles and without saying a thing punched Silver in the stomach."

Silver took a step back and watched as the kid held his hand and said "I think, it's broken!" Silver lifted his shirt and said, "Oh right, I completely forgot I was wearing the vest." Wendy stared at him and said, "You ran here wearing that while carrying Amber!" Silver nodded and said, "I didn't have time to take it off or I would've arrived a lot later than I have." Amber stared at him and apologized as she said "Sorry, it was my fault you didn't have time." Silver glanced at her and said, "Nah, this all my fault for being in a rush."

Wendy stared at him and said, "Next time my college has a festival you should just stay in my dorm." Silver glanced at her and said, "But if I have to work then wouldn't I just be traveling further?" Wendy stared at him and said, "Then you can let Amber stay the night with me while you go back home for work." Silver stood there for a moment and said "I guess that could work." Wendy glanced at the boy who was holding his hand in silence and said "Ignoring that for a moment, why did one of my stalkers try to attack you?"

Silver stared at him and said, "Yesterday he said it was something about you and he said he wanted to fight me for you." Wendy stared at him with a smug look and said "You were fighting over me." Silver glanced away and said, "Well not the way your thinking but yeah." Wendy smiled and grabbed onto his arm while saying "You know you did it for your love of me." Wendy pointed into the gate and shouted "Now before you try and deny it let's hurry up and go inside!"

Once inside the college Amber glanced at Silver who kept trying to get Wendy off of his arm as he said "You can stop clinging to me." Wendy stared at him and said, "I know but why should I." Silver sighed and asked, "Aren't their classes that are doing some other stuff?" Wendy nodded and said, "Yeah, they have a maid cafe, a haunted house, and even a gaming area for those less active people." Wendy began to drag Silver away as she said "They added some new games and the prizes are winnable."

Amber followed close behind them without saying a word as Silver stared at her and said "Make sure not to get lost, okay?" Amber nodded and said, "I'll be sure to stay close to you." As the three of them stood in front of a counter a girl walked up to them and asked "Would you like to play?" The girl set up some glass plates and said "To win you have to break three without missing once." Silver put money on the counter and said "Sure, sounds like fun." The lady set nine balls down on the counter and said "You paid for three people, right?"

Silver nodded and said "Yup, one for each of us." Amber stood on her tippy toes and said "I can't see." Silver glanced at her and asked, "Isn't there a stool?" Amber glanced around and said, "No, but I think I can still do it." Silver picked her up and said, "Here you, now you just have to throw them." Amber nodded and said, "Okay, I can do it now." After throwing all three balls and missing Amber stared at a cat plushie and said "I couldn't win." Wendy glanced at Amber and said, "Leave it to me, I'll win this no problem."

As Wendy threw the first ball it hit the plate and fell to the ground leaving the plate unbroken. Wendy stared at the plates and asked "Is this rigged?" Wendy threw another ball and missed while shouting "Then I'll go with power over accuracy!" Silver glanced at her and said, "You still got one try to break at least one." Wendy nodded and said, "Right, so I'll give it my all!" As she threw the final ball she hit the plate and chipped the edge of the plate.

Silver stared at the plates and said "They must be sturdier than we thought." Silver picked up one of the balls and set Amber down as he said, "Guess I'll see if I can break them." Amber tugged on his sleeve and whispered "Wouldn't it be better to remove the vest?" Silver glanced at her and said, "That might freak some people out so I'd better not." Silver pulled his arm back and said "I'll give it my all." Wendy stared at him and asked, "Is he gonna do a professional baseball pitch?" As Silver threw the ball it shattered the plate and cracked the wooden wall behind it. The girl glanced at the wall and said "You broke it?"

Silver reached for another ball and said "Two to go." The girl glanced at him and panicked as she shouted "Wait, you don't have to throw them that hard!" Silver glanced at her and said, "But if I don't throw it hard it won't break." The girl stared at him and said "But if you throw it too hard the wall will break." Silver glanced at the plates and said "Then I'll throw it a bit lighter." Silver just tossed the ball normally and broke the plate with ease as he said "Your right, it'll still break even if I don't through it with everything I got." The girl nodded and said, "Yes so please don't break the wall any more than you already have."

Silver picked up the last ball and said "This game was way easier than I thought it would be." Silver tossed the final ball and broke the final plate while looking away and asking Amber "So which prize do you want?" Amber stared at the cat plushie and pointed excitedly while saying "That one please." The girl behind the counter picked it up and handed it to her and said "I hope you enjoy your prize." Wendy stared at him and said, "I think you surprised her a little too much." Silver glanced at her and asked, "What's so surprising?"

Wendy glanced at the cracked wooden wall and said "I don't think she expected you to almost break through the back of the wall." Silver glanced at Amber who was holding tightly onto the cat plushie as he said "Well at least I won the prize." Wendy nodded and said, "Yeah that's a good thing, wanna go to the maid cafe and grab something to eat?" Silver nodded and said, "Sounds good to me." As the three of them walked into a building they saw a girl dressed as a maid waiting by the door.

As they walked up to her she bowed and said "Welcome to our maid cafe master, please stop by and have a meal." Silver stared at her and asked, "Is this how a maid acts?" Wendy glanced at him and said, "This is always one of the most popular attractions every year, it's what guys dream of!" As they entered a man dressed as a butler approached them and said "Good evening sir, please have a seat and I'll be with you shortly." As they sat down Silver's phone went off.

Silver pulled his phone out and said "Looks like a message from Jax." Silver stared at the phone screen and read "Just got word that another one of those people hybrid freaks are coming after you, this one has tracking abilities and already knows where you are, it might be on the campus already." Silver turned his phone off and said "Dammit, guess I'm bringing more work home." Wendy stared at him and said, "Don't you normally kill people?" Silver glanced at her and nodded as she said "Then your gonna kidnap someone and kill them?" Silver stared at her with no reaction and said "What, no what are you talking about?"
