This wasn't a glitch but a deliberate feature, plunging the game into chaos. The only ways to escape were to beat the game, die in the virtual world, or take their own lives, risking death in reality. Amidst this turmoil, a unique young boy, who seemed misplaced in this world, stood out. Driven by an insatiable thirst for power since childhood, he possessed immense knowledge, strength, and survival skills. In this unforgiving virtual realm, life took on a brutal and unpredictable nature. The contrast between the ordinary, civilized life they once knew and the harsh reality of a world teeming with monsters was stark. Normal concerns were replaced by constant vigilance, as any moment could bring peril or the loss of a loved one. The once-comfortable routines of everyday life were shattered, replaced by the relentless struggle for survival. Gone were the days of secure homes and predictable schedules. Now, every step held the potential for a life-or-death encounter with the monstrous inhabitants of this digital realm.

Death

The giant worm had barely a fraction of a second to react to the enemy in front of it. Punch after punch was thrown on the sides of its body as it could only continue to get punched into the wall. The punches were thrown at such a high degree of speed and strength that the whole cavern was shaking. Dents and cracks continued to form around the giant worm. It tried to escape multiple times but the speed of the attack left it with nothing to do about it. It left out a scream of pain and agony that echoed throughout the whole cavern. "Screaming now, I see? Do you know... how much of a pain in the ass it will be to heal this!?"

It was hard to believe but every punch that was thrown was with only a single hand. After finishing a combo of strikes, Velios kicked the giant worm straight up so that it collided with the roof, causing debris of rock to fall down. While it was still in the air, Velios jumped up, kicked one of the giant rocks that was shaped as a spike, straight into the body of the monster. It continued to make screaming noises as it fell down. The one-sided fight continued as Velios would not give the giant worm any time to either escape or attack. The giant worm was really fast, but that was really all it was. Its durability was lower than the monster he had fought before which was its biggest flaw. Velios, slowly seeping into a world of his own, completely forgetting the existence of others, didn't drag out the fight because he couldn't kill it but instead because he wanted to see how long he could torture it.

Unfortunately for Velios, the monster had died from the torture before Velios was fully satisfied. The whole cavern was covered in at least a small amount of the monster's blood. The blood was neither red nor did it have the same texture but it was undeniably, it's blood. Velios, after it had died, was just standing there with his head looking down slightly forwards. "You, damn you! I wasn't even done with you, you damn dirt eater! Fight me, damn it!" He was talking to no one but himself. Velios knew very well that he was done and that he had killed the enemy, but now what was he going to do?

There was no room or path to take except the one that led them to the beginning. Velios had no experience with any sorts of games and just stood there, zoning out in his thoughts. Normally, he'd have Yotsuya tell him and guide him on how things like these work and what you're most likely supposed to do, but he was all alone. He kept looking around, turning his head and torso around trying to see if anything had appeared in or close to the room. But to his expectations, nothing had either changed or happened. Velios let out a big sigh as he was walking back to the entrance of the cavern, covered in slimy goo and other remains of the dead monster, but as he tried to walk back, he was abruptly stopped by a sort of invisible wall. Velios tried to push through but just couldn't and when he tried to punch it, nothing happened. "What's this, can't it just let me go throu-"

An unfathomable pressure was surrounding Velios. His senses that had become better, were disappearing and becoming even worse than it did the first time it happened. Velios was immediately brought to his knees and his muscles slowly stopped responding to his muscles in any way. The room's atmosphere had itself turned into complete darkness as Velios' body was slowly moved closer and closer to what was emitting it. For Velios, the pressure alone was like a storm, engulfing anyone or anything that happened to be in its path. Velios had never felt as much fear together in his whole life as he experienced now. He could only ask himself. Is this what it feels like to know that you're dead?

The pressure was now so immense that he could feel his own organs tightening up and almost getting crushed. The air had escaped his lungs and he could barely breathe. Even with all of this in mind, Velios stood up as best as he could, countering whatever it was that tried to bring him down. His eyes couldn't see anything in detail, everything was blurry to him but he still knew that something was wrong. Two things actually. The first was that Velios was not in the cavern anymore, at least not the same one. The floor was completely flat with patterns going around it and the walls and roof was now a perfectly symmetrical dome. The second thing wrong however, was that there was no enemy in front of him or anywhere near him at all.

Then, suddenly, a massive creature appeared not more than ten meters from where Velios stood. Velios did not get any time to react to what had happened as he was brought from a standing position down to his knees and head touching the cold floor. The pressure was rapidly growing and Velios was completely powerless in front of the creature. "I must commend you for defeating even one of the monsters I command. The power you have achieved compared to the other humans is unfathomable, so it's such a shame that you were born a human." Velios just slowly tried to look back up. His face already filled with the emotion of confusion, what he saw shook him to his core. A giant robe was all it had on, a body many times bigger than his own, a face you couldn't see and a scythe in one of its hands. That which was standing before him was the pinnacle of death, a grim reaper.

Velios was too worn out and weak to even react at what he was seeing in front of him. "What do you say, human? Why don't you join me? The powers that you will get and the feats you will achieve will be far more than anything your lowly race could ever hope to achieve." The voice was calm and cold if not only cold. It was serious but still demeaning. "I am but one of the ten Sovereigns of this world, you should feel honored that I'm offering this in the first place." Velios was still on the floor, coughing up blood. "What is your answer?" Velios, with all his might, stood up and faced literal death in the eye. "I would rather die than have my freedom stripped away from me." The serious look from Velios gave away the truth of what he meant. "I see. So I was right about you." The grim reaper still had the exact same tone in its voice. The scythe it was holding was slowly lifted so that the blade on it was facing Velios' direction. "Then die."

Velios' only remaining arm was cut off without a seconds delay. He couldn't even comprehend the scythe moving. Everything was happening too fast for Velios to comprehend. His body didn't even know if it had been cut or not and his senses were still so weak that he couldn't feel anything. Velios felt his body suddenly collapse to the ground behind him, landing on his back. Blood was everywhere around him and blood was slowly going out of his mouth. His dying eyes stared up into the roof of the place as he slowly felt himself fading away. Velios body was completely immobile but he looked as far down with his eyes as he could to look at the reaper of death standing before him. He couldn't see it, something was blocking the view as it stood directly in front of him. Velios strained his eyes to look at the object in front of him as best he could.

Standing before him was nothing less than Velios' entire lower body. His own torso was laying on the ground just slightly behind it. Velios stared up at his own legs, looking at the part that had been cut so cleanly off that it looked like a smooth surface. Even though the legs had no body, they still stood there unknowingly without falling down. Velios couldn't feel anything, no pain, no anger, no sentimental feelings, which was weird. Velios didn't often think about death but he was still curious about it since it was so mysterious. He would be shocked to know how it felt like to die if he could feel shocked. As Velios slowly disappeared into his own thoughts, his eyes were slowly closing up for good. Just before they were fully shut, he could only get out a single, last thought. I'm sorry, Yotsuya.
