Chapter 4 THE NIGHTCLUB

Chapter 4: The Nightclub

***

DIANA STRUGGLED to keep the smile on her face and looked at the man with the beast’s heart as she walked toward him.

“Hi there, may I invite you to a dance?” she asked, her gaze drawn to Raven.

The men around Raven looked at him with envy and jealousy as a pleasant sound of cold air sounded.

Raven raised his head slowly to meet Diana’s gaze.

The original impatient gaze once again touched Diana’s exquisite face.

Diana gave Raven a heartfelt smile and a wink. “May I dance with you, Sir?”

Raven’s chest tightened violently, and he jumped to his feet, knocking over the red wine and tea on the table.

“Who are you?”

Raven received mocking glances and scolding from the onlookers.

“Who exactly is this man?”

“It was an honor for Miss Rodriguez to ask him to dance.”

“Perhaps it’s a gentleman seeking Miss Rodriguez’s favor!”

“This kind of man tarnishes our masculine image!”

Raven’s face grew uglier, and he couldn’t stop trembling with his fists clenched at his sides. “Who the hell are you?! Are you human or ghost?”

Diana handed the wine glass she was holding to Isabel, who was already standing nearby.

“What are you talking about, Sir?”

“Who the hell are you?” Raven inquired once more, noticing the confusion in the woman’s eyes—a pair of ruby eyes that were not Diana Barrett’s eyes. ‘But why do I see Diana on her?’ he wondered.

Diana frowned as she observed Raven’s reaction. “Are you an alien, Sir? Have you not heard about me?” She leaned in slightly, her voice was light, and her smile was a little sneering.

Raven looked around him with a hint of bewilderment and asked, “Who is she?”

Although no one had seen Eloise Rodriguez’s face, a black veil couldn’t hide her beauty, and the ruby eyes that had never been hidden made them certain of her identity.

“She is Ms. Eloise Rodriguez,” the crowd did not hesitate to speak in unison.

Raven looked around in fear at the people around him.

“Mr. Carson, she is Ms. Eloise Rodriguez, the hostess of this nightclub,” the client who accompanied him to the nightclub said quickly.

“Not even Ms. Rodriguez knows where this man came from! It’s a pity!” Raven Carson was pushed by a man who appeared to be cynical.

Raven then fell to the ground and asked Diana, “Are you really Eloise Rodriguez?”

Diana raised her hand, pretending to be perplexed, to cover her red lips. “Who do you think I am, Sir? Look how terrified you are. Do strangers consider me to be a demon?”

Diana smiled and tossed a white handkerchief in Raven’s face before leaving.

Raven snatched the handkerchief from his face and gazed at the lovely figure. “How does she resemble Didi so much?”

Isabel, who was still standing to the side, looked at Raven. “Are you insane? Do you not think you’re ridiculous? How dare you treat our hostess in this manner?”

Raven was taken aback. He stood up and dragged Isabel, who was about to follow Diana.

“Is she your lady boss, Miss? Is she the Privilege’s hostess? Are you not mistaken?”

Isabel shook Raven’s hand angrily. “What exactly do you mean? You jerk, I’ve known Eloise for ten years!”

Raven was rendered speechless by her words.

Isabel called for security. “Get rid of him!” she commanded.

Raven was then dragged out of the club on his shoulder by security guards.

Logan Fowler stood in the corner quietly watching this scene and quickly called Heinrich Davis.

“President, you must visit Privilege and meet the woman who resembles Ms. Diana.”

Heinrich then drove all the way to the nightclub, his eyes gloomy and cold.

“Where is she?” he asked Logan.

Diana stood in the corridor of the second-floor dance hall, looking down in the dim multicolored light. She observed that Heinrich appeared thinner than a month ago.

At midnight, the streets are bustling with people.

The nightclub hosted a semi-monthly stone betting event. Three middle-aged men stepped aside as the staff moved a three-meter-long oak table and the tools needed for gambling stones.

Heinrich sat quietly in the corner, his gaze fixed on Diana.

She had the same face and body as Diana, but the woman in front of him had ruby eyes. Based on Logan’s information, he discovered that she was the owner of the largest nightclub and used to wear a veil to conceal her beauty.

Heinrich couldn’t understand how Eloise Rodriguez, who had always worn a black veil, could remove it and reveal her face.

He couldn’t believe Diana had died in such a tragic way. Diana’s death, according to his sixth sense, had another reason. But what was the story with Eloise Rodriguez?

Eloise had just greeted him in the reception room with the most proud and indifferent posture and sternly warned him as he approached. (“Don’t cause any unnecessary trouble, Mister. Otherwise... I’ll have security send you out.")

Other women, including Diana when she was still alive, would never say such a thing to him. Nobody ever spoke to him as she did.

In that case, he stayed and sat in the corner, watching what was going on.

“I didn’t expect to see your bare face today, Ms. Rodriguez. You are more stunning than a goddess!”

One of the three middle-aged men addressed his compliment to Diana. These three are in the gambling stone business and have gone out on numerous occasions to retrieve batches of it.

Privilege has been thriving for five years, and the three men decided a year ago to collaborate with the nightclub to hold a stone betting event every half-month at midnight.

The people who come to play at the nightclub are famous, and both sides have made a lot of money in a year.

The audience fell silent as a dozen workers carried stones of various sizes to the center, where they were carefully placed one by one on the table.

Diana’s eyes seem to shine brightly, and an image of Eloise playing gambling stone appeared in her mind—standing on the sidelines as a spectator, watching others gamble with their lives.

People who play with stones frequently expose their usefulness.

Some stones have been purchased at a high price, and the jadeite cut out may not be worth the price; in short, gambling on the stone is an unpredictable fate, people’s hearts are suspended in mid-air, and wandering is extremely dangerous.
