Chapter 12 - Lost

"It's one thing after another after another." Klyde said as he walked inside, the police had now arrived and apprehended the man. While talking with the police Klyde discovered that the man was well known for setting fires ever since he was 12 years old. "World full of crazy people it seems." Said one of the officers. "would appear so." Klyde replied.

They had all gone back to bed but Klyde still couldn't sleep, so he began excersising to pass the time. Morning came and Maddy walked into the living room to find Klyde asleep on the floor, resting peacefully. She didn't want to wake him so she went and got breakfast then sat on the couch, watching him. "He's so cute like this." she thought. "Morning." Klyde mumbled, just loud enough for Maddy to hear it and be startled by it. "Oh you're awake." she said with an awkward laugh as she looked around. "Yeah, I noticed you staring." "I- I wasn't staring I don't know what you're talking about." "I won't tell anyone, plus I don't really mind, kinda my fault for falling asleep here." They both laughed then went for breakfast. After breakfast, off to school they went, however they did not arrive at school that day.

"Where.. Am I.? Klyde? Are you there?" Maddy said, slight fear present in her voice. "Yeah, I'm here. " he said quietly, as if he'd just woken up. "what happened?" asks Maddy. "I'm.. Not sure." "Where are we?" "Again, I'm not sure." Maddy tried to move towards Klyde's voice but was held by something wrapped around her wrists. "I can't reach you I'm tied to a pole." she whispers. "Same here." he replies. Another voice butt in from the darkness. "Ah, so you two are finally awake, about time."

"Who are you? What do you want?" said Maddy to the stranger in the shadows. "Thank you for asking, but I must warn you, you won't like the answer." said the stranger. "I want you two out of the way, permanently. You've caused too much trouble for us." "Us? Who's us?" replied Maddy. "My organisation, that's all the information I'm giving." Said the stranger. "However, because I'm a nice guy I'll allow you to choose your form of death." "Oh how nice of you." Maddy remarked sarcastically, then said, "so what are our options?" "Well, you have the option of being shot, burned, poisoned, strangled, or drowned." "Oh how lovely." Maddy said in once again a sarcastic voice. "Yes well I hand picked the options myself, I'd enjoy whichever you choose." "You psychopath." "Me? A psychopath? Hardly." he then turned to Klyde, "What do you have to say mister silent in the shadows?" "You should've used more rope." Klyde said quietly and immediately jumped out at the man. Taking on all that came on him until one man held Maddy at gunpoint, "Stop, or I'll shoot her." Klyde froze. Just then sirens were heard outside and it distracted the man with the gun just long enough for Klyde to kick the gun out of the man's hand and shove him aside.

The police piled in as Klyde untied Maddy from the pole. "You kids alright?" Said the chief. "Yeah we're alright sir." responded Maddy shakily, "Good, we'll take it from here." "How did you get out of the ropes?!" yelled the man as he was dragged off. "Practise." was all Klyde said before taking Maddy and walking off.

Now you may be wondering how they got kidnapped so let's rewind for a moment, they left the house for school that morning, and took the car as usual, but had to stop for fuel, and that's when the criminals struck, knocking the two unconscious as they were walking in to pay for the fuel and buy some snacks. The man at the counter of course was in on it.

And now back to the story. The chief took the two of them back to Klyde's car and they returned home. The experience they just had was enough to excuse them from school that day.

"Are you kids alright?? I heard about what happened." "Yeah we're okay mum." "Not hurt or anything?" "No just a little shook." "Alright, I'll get you kids something to eat and drink, just go sit in the living room and watch TV or something." "Alright, thanks mum." They sat silently, not knowing how to feel about everything that happened. Then Klyde put his hand on Maddy's knee, she was shocked for a moment but realised it was a form of comfort, she felt a sudden wave of relief.

They had sat for hours, staring at the TV, thinking about everything and linking every encounter like a puzzle in their heads. Maddy couldn't make much sense of it, but for Klyde it soon became clear as day, there was something much bigger and darker going on...

"You kids alright? you haven't said a word in hours" asked Maddy's mother, suddenly waking the two up from there deep thought. "Sorry mum, yeah we're ok, just lost in thought." "Alright, if you say so, just call out if you need anything." "Will do mum."

After another hour Maddy turned to see Klyde was fast asleep. She couldn't help but giggle a little before grabbing a blanket and tucking him in before she herself, fell asleep.

Maddy woke the next morning to the sound of cliter clattering in the kitchen, and found Klyde was no longer beside her on the couch, the TV was on the news channel and her mother was sitting on the other sofa watching intently until she notice he daughter was awake, "Well good morning there sleepy head." "Mum? if you're in here is.. Klyde cooking something?" "Yes he insisted, not really sure why." "Odd, well perhaps he felt bad for you doing it all the time and wanted to do it himself for once?" "could be the case, but it isn't really important, what's important is that he sees to be going all out in there, he's been at it for almost an hour." Maddy's mother said, puzzlement expressed on her face. "Holy wowzers what's he cooking up in there an army's feast?" Maddy said and the two laughed. Just then Klyde walked in carrying a place of pancakes and waffles and a plate with mugs on it, the sweet smell of hot chocolate, pancakes, and waffles filled the house. "Goodness that smells delicious!" Maddy declared as her face lit up with anticipation and excitement. Klyde placed the plates and sat, gesturing for the two to dig in, and then turned his attention to the news on TV. 'there are reports of young people aged 14 to 20 going missing a cross the city and possibly even the country, all victims seem to have been taken in similar situations, as they were all walking home from school, alot of them last seen walking passed the world famous innovative technologies and fuel company headquarters of Merticorp. no one claims to know of any clues as to the whereabouts of the 30 reported missing children, I will share further information later on in my next session, if i have any, Jack robins, signing off.'

"Oh dear, these things just never cease." said Maddy's mother with sadness in her voice. "Yeah, and weirdly has a high concentration here in this city, our city, our home." Klydes only remark was, "Unfortunately."
