Chapter 16

We walk into the principles office and sit down. Headmaster Zelen looks up from his work, staring at first Chara and her wounds and then his gaze switches to me who is out of breath still. Looking between the two of us, his eyes get bigger.

"What happened?" He asks, setting down his old fashion quill. Giving us his attention Chara explained.

"He went past his limits. With the necklace you gave him he can't use all of his powers. It limits him to three of his elements. He used fire, earth, and wind to attack me in our advanced magic class. It was a trial and he won. He could have killed me if he wanted to." She said, sighing. Why is she saying these things? I ask myself. I watch as Chara pulls out three Chocolate bars, opening one she broke it into half. She ate two rows, giggling. Shrugging I grab two scones off of Headmaster Zelen's desk.

"I didn't mean to hurt her this bad." I mumbled, chewing on a scone.

"I'll heal up in a few minutes, don't worry about me." Chara says, looking over at me. I look over at Chara and see her watching me.

"It's still not okay though." I say, sighing. I wish I didn't have to hurt her, she is family after all. Chara looks at the headmaster with pleading eyes.

"Please don't punish him. He didn't do it on purpose. He wanted to not be a liability." She said, smiling shyly. I continue to stare at Chara as she continues to stare at the headmaster with puppy dog eyes. She turned to me and smiled.

"It'll be fine. I will heal up soon. How are you though? You used a lot of mana in our fight." She asked. I looked at the headmaster and sighed. Looking at Chara I stand up.

"I am fine, I just need some rest." I say, smiling weakly. Sitting back down I look at the headmaster.

"Well Wolf, you sure have proved yourself. No one else in that class could have combined four spells at once and cast them. You're sure you are all right?" Zelen asked, looking at me curiously. He opened his drawer and pulled something out, handing it to me. I reach out my hand to take it but instead drop my hand as intense pain shoots through my chest.

"Shit!" Night screams, in pain. Whats happening? I ask him, wincing in the process. Chara looks over at me, watching me with eyes filled with worry.

"Is he evolving?" She asks, wincing in sympathy. I slowly turn my head to look at Chara.

"Evolving?" I ask her, grimacing. She nods her head, looking up at the ceiling.

"Yes, evolving. Night is trying to keep up with you at the moment. He is growing stronger to keep you in check and to make it so you can't go berserk." She said, standing up. Walking behind me she puts her hands on my shoulders. I could feel her body heat as it filled me with a sense of security. What is she doing? I thought as I grow tired. I try to turn around to look at her but my body fails me.

"What are you doing?" I ask, as I feel power flood through me from her. Laughing she puts her face close to my ear.

"Making sure you don't pass out from the strain of having a pure blood dragon evolving inside you." She said, pulling her head away from me. My eyes feel heavy.

"It's not working... too well." I whisper, feeling myself fade. BANG! I slowly turned my head towards the sound and find that the headmaster stood up so fast he slammed his chair away from himself. I watched as he walked over to stand in front of me.

"Wolf?! I am going to try and help you now." He said, laying his left palm onto my forehead. I feel energy flow into me from where he touched my head. My eyes flooded wide open.

"What did you do?" I ask, feeling energy flood into me from Chara and Headmaster Zelen. Zelen looked at me with kind eyes.

"I merely helped you by weaving mana into you." He said, taking his hand off from my forehead. I straighten up and watch Zelen go sit back down. Chara took her hands off from my shoulders and whispered into my ear.

"Come see me tomorrow. He is asleep for now but not for long. He might wake up tomorrow morning or he might stay asleep for a few days. Anyway I need to help you learn how to gather enough mana to sustain yourself while he is doing this." She said, grabbing my arm and helping me stand up.

"I'm going to take him back to his room if you don't mind Headmaster." She said, helping me out of the Headmasters room and towards my room.

"I don't mind. Please keep an eye on him Chara." He said, sighing.
