Chapter 2

Helena Point Of View

Abena approached me one day after I had an argument with my boyfriend on her staying with us. She has the intention of going to the big city to find a noble job and earn for her education. I did not want her to leave me because she has been the only source of happiness and the reason I persisted when our parents died. I survived in the dark hours because of her.

She has been devout and acknowledge me with the respect that I deserve as an elder sister. Abena is a good girl and shouldn't be involved in my problems with Ato. He detest Abena's presence in the house. Ever since my only sister came to stay with us after completing high school, Ato was always on her neck and was making her to distant herself from me. Abena is a beauty as our mother. She took after our mother in every single way.

Her bright eyes, velvety skin colour, her small pink mouth, her curvy shape. I mean her physique was mind blowing. At age seventeen, Abena has already assume the body of maturity and I don't want her to be a victim of Ato who is an activist of sexual immortality or euphemistically a rapist. Abena didn't know about Ato's abysmal behaviour and didn't also know the reason behind his hate for her.

Life In The Big City

Now, Abena has already been to the city of Accra. Life has began for the young lady. Mrs Arthur, the woman that Helena gave her address to Abena had moved out some months ago as I have already said.

"No matter the situation, survive for surviving is winning" Abena remembered a quote that she learned back in high school. She vowed to survive no matter what goes down.

It was then that she found her friend called Andrea who was also from a town in the Eastern part of the country. She came to Accra to find a noble job but only the Almighty God knows the kind of job that she got as being noble.

"Hey girl" Andrea called.

"Yes madam" Abena responded.

"Stop calling me with appellation or whatever you just called me.

"Just say Bouncer and stop that madam and please stuff" Andrea reckoned.

"Okay Bouncer" Abena said.

"Here you go. I have brought you some food" Andrea said and gave Abena the food that was wrapped in a polythene. Abena sat still for sometime before making attempt to dig into the food.

"It is not much. Just some small rice with tomatoes stew" Andrea added.

"Don't worry about that, I can be satisfied with it" Abena said and thanked her new friend for her kindness towards her.

"No need to thank me for anything. Besides, I was once like you then" Andrea said.

"To be frank with you, life here in this big city is not easy. This city is full of 'wahala' dear. When you are here and have no work to depend on, you will starve" Andrea said.

"I'm here for work so I would do what it takes to find a noble work in this environ" Abena said.

"It is going to be hard dear but you have to keep your head above water" Andrea said and Abena nodded her head approvingly.

"No matter the situation, whenever and wherever, I will held my head high and fight" Abena said with a smile.
