chapter 21

"Okay look, I need the artifact. I'm willing to offer my service as an adventurer to help you in your time of need," I said.

"even if I wanted to give it to you I can't," she said shaking her head.

"why not," I asked.

"because it is on the deepest floor in the labyrinth, guarded by many monsters," she said.

"that's it? I thought it was difficult," I said.

"except that the labyrinth is always changing, and we don't even have a proper map of it," the fox said.

"that's fine, I have a capable party with me," I said.

"well it's your funeral," she said handing me a map.

"the place is on the outside of town. it looks like a teleportation gate however it leads underground. the monsters are always different, sometimes skeletons, lizardmen, or goblins," the fox said.

I took the map and headed towards the door.

"what's your name," I asked looking behind me.

"you may call me Akiko," she said and I left.

once outside the building I teleported back to the hotel and saw Nero in the room.

"good Nero your here. tell me where I can find this place," I said pointing toward the labyrinth.

she looked at the map before she frowned.

"I'll take you there since I don't trust you going by yourself," Nero said.

"you hear that Fenrir, that's heresy," I hissed at Nero.

Fenrir even gave me a look saying "you know it's true". I felt many emotions. betrayal, being hopeless, and finally revenge.

I teleported behind Fenrir and began fluffing his tail. the labyrinth and evil gods can wait, right now I'm dealing with something of cosmic importance.

when I snapped out of my trance I summoned a big juicy steak for him to munch on.

"good boy," I said scratching behind his ears.

"now then take me to the labyrinth Nero," I said as Nero pulled out the rope of guiding.

I sighed as she tied my hand and guided me toward the labyrinth and I looked at it.

"can you buy me one of those corn dogs over there," I said pointing?

she turned around only to see that there wasn't anything there and by the time she went to look at me, I was gone.

when I entered I looked around and saw hundreds, or possibly thousands of complex hallways.

after getting over my awe, I began going through the labyrinth. there were many doors, and every time you opened them you would have to fight off a horde of monsters.

lizard men. usually have a sword or sometimes both a sword and a shield. their skill wasn't that bad, but if they jump you then it was deadly.

not for me though.

I quickly dispatched and headed forward. where was I going? hell if I know.

a couple of mage goblins appeared, but the only magic they did was fire and sometimes water, both of which were countered by me.

I continued walking forward and picked up a sword that one of the lizardmen dropped.

the walls looked like they were getting older and the enemies were getting stronger.

I didn't use my powers because it was simply overkilled, besides I needed to not lean too heavily on my powers and train my body too.

I walked Infront of a big door that had a dangerous aura coming from it.

when I opened the door I found myself in a coliseum of sorts and a tall knight that stood in the middle with its sword planted in the ground.

its armor looked pretty old, but that doesn't mean it was bad. his armor would still be very capable to protect itself but I was more worried about his sword.

"This knight would like to fight an honorable battle with you," a voice from inside the armor said.

an honorable battle... a battle between two people, however, the battle is only swordsmanship, and magic is banned.

this battle is so you could fight your opponent to the death but it's mainly a form of respect. respect between two people who are fighting.

"I'll accept your challenge," I said as I stopped my powers, including vector manipulation.

I put my scythe away in my alternate space and put away my hidden blades. after all, in a battle of honor, underhanded methods are frowned upon.

I got myself into position and watched as the knight raised his sword.

"start," a voice said.

and the battle began...
