The Mutant Siren

Humans seem simple. Mutants seem complicated. To humans, mutants are like gods. To mutants, humans don't understand the responsibility of power. In a world where half of the global population is made up of mutants, a myth becomes reality. One that has been passed down through the generations of mankind, human and mutant alike. It's always the most simple things that are complicated. (Revised Edition) (The universe in this book will be the basis of stories to come. There are sectors of mutants within themselves, like vampires, elementals and such. However, I don't wish to cram it all into one book. Hence this book hopes to explore mutants as a whole, and in particular, this myth that has become reality.)

Mother's Love

"KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!"

Mrs Andrea Vogue knew her daughter best. Never once in her school life had she come home so early, let alone so urgently. Upon hearing the door, she dropped her drawing tablet and teleported to the door. She opened the door way too fast for the human eye to see.

"Hannah... Darling, what happened?"

Hannah was standing there, the image of a young woman who could end a life with the blink of her eye. She truly had been awakened.

"My....powers....are up...".

She spoke between a whisper and a murmur, painfully aware that she was speaking to her mother and had no intention of using her powers accidentally. Andrea wrapped Hannah under her arm just as a mother owl protects her chicks from the storm. She walks her into the power room in their house.

Given that her family was pretty wealthy, her parents built this room in anticipation of their mutant children. It was unlike the cruel lab testing rooms one could find in the underbelly of the country. This room had the atmosphere of care and attention. Andrea helped Hannah clean up and even prepared a nice drink for her. She sat her down in a small sofa and waited for her to finish drinking.

"So what happened?"

Hannah speaks ruggedly, the rage still coursing through her.

"These sons of bitches. They bully me everyday. I've dealt with them but not like this....just because my daddy didn't bribe the principal or screw my biology teacher, I can't be no. 1 in the chart? They're dirty and they drag others with them....and....and I just snapped."

"What did you hope for, when you lashed out?"

Andrea moved closer to her daughter. Many other parents would be sitting three countries away from their children. Not Andrea. She knew her daughter's pain. Hannah saw that too. It gave her the confidence to answer her mother truthfully.

"I wanted to level them to pieces. I ran home because I loved the feeling. These pieces of shit at my feet. I could wipe them out. But I didn't. So I ran home..."

Andrea pulled Hannah close to her. A young woman of such strong will was a very rare breed, and Andrea couldn't feel more blessed. Looking into Hannah's eyes, she held her shoulders and said...

"Wanna learn something cool?"

Andrea trains her daughter. What happens now? How will this single event affect the rest of the Vogues' lives.
