Back to Work

I woke up early this morning I had a feeling after our short break from work it was going to be busy. Mondays are always busy. I showered and dressed in my uniform which consisted of black camo style pants and a plain black T-shirt, matching with my army style boots. I'm not one of those women who wear makeup as an everyday thing, I prefer to look natural there is nothing better, so I put my hair in it's every day ponytail and headed from my room to apartment kitchen I share with Jackson. He was already up and dressed ready for the day, the smell of coffee hit my nose like a shot of adrenaline.

"Good morning little ninja, your eager to get back to work I see" He winked at me

"You know I hate you calling me that. Just because you're taller than me doesn't make me little you know!" I grumbled and he laughed the kind of laugh that makes anyone around smile hearing it. We sat in comfortable silence for a while why we drank Two cups of coffee each and two rounds of toast. Half an hour later and we were on our way to the facility. We chose to walk why it wasn't to cold or hot this early on a morning it was just right.

"You know this is the quietest you have been, is everything okay Octavia?" Jackson asked unexpectedly. Truth be told I wasn't even paying attention to anything my mind on other things. I couldn't wait to get to work but sometimes I couldn't help but wonder if dad would ever approve of the kind of work I do. He had always been a good man wanting to help anyone who needed it, serving in the army to protect the people in our country. I couldn't ask for a better father but here I am taking away peoples right to live by literally taking their life.

"Yeah I'm okay Jackson just thinking about my dad. You know I'm not sure he'd approve of the work I do" I replied sadly

"Your dad would love you know matter what kind of job you had Octavia he was a good man". He was right my dad had always been a good man and didn't ever judge anyone for what they wore, looked like, how they chose to live their life or what job they had. I told Jackson a thousand times about my dad ever since meeting him, I would always share some kind of story.

When we reached the huge facility building which looked like any other normal kind of office building. The only difference being that the walls and windows where bullet proof and security was tight. They also had a very unique high end security system installed in case the security guards couldn't handle any intruders themselves for what ever reason. Once activated it would shut down the entire building any where a door or window was it would close and lock in an instant. It's never had to be used as off yet not in the entire 7 years I've worked here anyway.

"Good morning Laura, anything we need to know since our break" I asked the security guard on duty as we swiped our ID badges to enter through the main doors.

"No nothing as far as I know Octavia it's been quiet around here since you two left" She smiled at me as I walked through the now open doors. We took the elevator to the 5th floor, why Vincent had to have his office and ours up there was beyond me. He did however insisted he needed his best team within reach in case of emergencies, when I moaned about it once and of course that was me and Jackson.

"You two my office now" Vincent called out just as we reached the doors to our own office. He was dressed in his usual black suit and tie but today he worse a blue shirt instead of white, his usual scruffy blond hair was combed to the side and he wore a small smirk on his face. This couldn't get any stranger could it, I mean what had happen to this cold man who never showed any emotions let alone smiled even a small one.

"Is everything okay Vincent sir, we were just going to put our bags in our office set up and come join you?" Jackson questioned. He looked just as unsure as I felt, it's good to know I'm not the only one that thinks this is most definitely odd.

"We have much to discuss young ones. My wife Lillian will be staying in the facility apartments for a while as she will be doing some work here. Please take a seat" Vincent gestured to the two chairs in front of his desk.

"We have been requested by the government to assist on a rescue mission. Yes before you say anything. I know this is not something we usually take on but I believe we need a change around here and this mission is the kind you can have details on." He paused giving us time to take in what he said. A rescue mission is not something we have ever accepted he's right, were hitters it's what we do best are we even capable of rescuing people. What am I saying we have had non stop training every single day we have at least an hour or two unless we are on missions. Jackson was the first to speak up.

"Sir I think it's a good idea, I don't believe this facility was started with just one focus in mind especially given the training we receive". I couldn't agree more at this point people far and wide would hire us if they knew we were capable of multiple things.

"I agree with Jackson on this one sir. One we get to know a bit more about the people involved in this case with a rescue mission we know who we are saving giving us the motivation to do so without fail. We still may face trouble along the way which is indeed exciting for me can't beat a bit of action. We have training of all kinds so I think we are always well prepared for anything no matter the mission. I do have a suggestion if I may sir"

Vincent seemed to be observing me for a moment, I do hope I hadn't said anything out of line I don't think I did. He nodded after a moment for me to continue.

"With the right resources, I believe this facility already has access to, we can take on private investigation missions to if we are to branch out and cater for many different clients that is. Everyone will possibly want something different. Maybe open requests for missions we have not yet taken on if the case was to ever arise. Giving our clients that option might give them reason to reach out to us." I took in a deap breath after rambling on for so long. I was now regretting what I had said it sounded stupid but I couldn't stop once I had already started.

"I will most definitely consider what both of you have suggest for now go get settled in your office we will meet shortly to discuss the mission, you will be leaving today. I want only my best on this mission that means you two" He stated. with that we all parted.
