Chapter 50: Congregation

The drive through Manhattan was … unsettling to say the least.

The street was empty of other cars but was filled with people heading in the direction of central park. Anyone not already heading in that direction was quickly added to the horde and joined them.

For the first time since this began, I understood how Felix and Linc could compare this to a zombie apocalypse. Seeing so many people who’d had their minds taken over by thoughts and false memories of me was something I no longer enjoyed.

The smiles plastered across their faces certainly made them look happy, but they really were just the husks leftover from the people they used to be before they fell under my spell.

They couldn’t stay like this; I knew that now.

And now there was a solution.

I lowered my gaze to Felix’s mana trap, its crystal blue color even more vibrant since drawing my magic out of Linc.
